G-Funk is really under-appreciated these days compared to boom bap.
And to think back in the day, G-Funk and Parliament was considered "simplistic" by the East Coast.

Not really. A lot of light hip-hop fans tend to think G-funk is everything
Cus its a simpler pop oriented sound, i havent heard anybody meaningful experiment with the g funk sound

God rest Nate Dogg, what a vocalist. I remember that day in college when we heard he died. Tragic. This is in the top 10 of Hip Hop songs ever, easily.

I never understood what he meant by "the rhythm is the bass and the bass is the treble." I always thought the bass was the bass and the treble was the treble 😂
Where rhythm is life and life is rhythm
He was referring to the fact that, in his G-funk style, the bass drives the melody, which is usually what the high-pitched elements ("the treble) do. If you think about it the main melody throughout Regulate is indeed the bassline.
