As of the release of this video; a cause for the engine failure of N2843T has not been determined. If jet fuel contamination does turns out to be the cause of the mishap; I'll make a retraction, however, I doubt I will have to do so. More likely causes would include water contamination, or mechanical failure. We will have to see what the NTSB investigation turns up.
I'm no aviation expert (have some papers, though), but even I know the difference. 🙄 Yeah, one can't even trust experts now, let alone news. Great reaction, IFC! 👍🏻
Hopefully more people in the general public see through that nonsense than I'm giving them credit for, but I fear many if not most people swallow it hook, line, and sinker.
I was on the freeway just a few miles behind the landing when it happened, going southbound. One of the worst traffic jams I've ever experienced, all the detours off and near the freeway were on one lane/narrow streets near the beach which already has a ton of car and foot traffic.
The news channel should have called Central. This is all too common in the media in regards to aviation. They call an expert, who is usually an ex military guy with absolutely zero knowledge of general aviation. They should have called a local flight school and got a CFI on the phone.
Yeah. They would have gotten a much better answer from even a bottom tier CFI than they got from this guy. This was just so ridiculously wrong, that I new immediately upon seeing it, that I had to call it out as such.
I just tell them 'we won't know anything until the investigators have searched the wreckage & found the long weight.' 'Once that's been taken care of, the answer's will be right there on the end of it.' (Smile, turn & quickly stride away : )
Reminds me of the navy pilots that were interviewed as "experts" regarding the released UFO footage. Anyone even remotely involved with cameras could immediately tell that the "tic-tac" was a shutter artifact. Same with the other "ufo" which was just a lens flare :).
I never trust the MSM to give reliable information. As an example, the way they routinely botch info on horses and horse racing is hilarious, but it's easy for me to pick up on this.
Yes. Easy to pick up on things with which one is already familiar, but I can only imagine what BS is presented on a regularly basis, and consumed by the general public as fact. None of us can know everything, but the news pretends that they do.

Yeah. People rubber neck when a regular automobile accident happens. Can only imagine the stoppage an emergency landing would cause.

Expert has unfortunately become one of the many terms that has started to lose it's meaning through broad application, and overuse.

@@iflycentral 👍👍
"Aviation Expert"; another potential career path for you?
Clearly I would be better at it than this guy, but that would also probobly mean I'd upset the news agencies, and get booted. XD
@@iflycentral Maybe with some indoctrination training you might become suitable?
