As a prior worker for the Marketplace, I can completely agree. I was taxed more at the end of the year than what I made, and they give these weird "encouragement payments" throughout the year that you basically have to pay back later. But that's not the worst thing about it- the worst is that their rules and fat handbook of what you can and can't make is so dense and complicated, there's basically no creative freedom- and there's so many creators on there already making fat bank that they "shark out" smaller creators, basically enveloping smaller teams into their huge teams, destroying any credit to those they're paying maybe $3 an hour to, and then those creators additionally shame and berate any workers that point it out. It's a huge problem and the lack of creativity allowed there is why everything is so trash, because they'll happily allow any kind of knockoff or trash content if it makes them money. It's no longer about building, creating, or reaching your "dream job" anymore, it's about trying to please every single possible person on the planet, leaving you with extremely little wiggle room. Very restrictive and it became so difficult to do anything and cost me so much, I had to leave something I'd dreamed of for my entire childhood behind because of its unstable and restrictive mass of corporate greed.
My advice:
1. If you reach your "dream job", remember that we aren't supposed to only dream once. There's more out there, something else will turn up for you one day so don't sweat it if the first thing you worked your whole life for doesn't work out in the end.
2. The Marketplace is full of corruption. I'd stick to Java Edition if you want cool stuff like the things mods add, they're free and if you want to make them yourself, you can literally do anything. Go where you CAN be creative, that's what's important!
3. In the end, a game is a game. No matter how much we complain, Microsoft'/Mojang's wearing money-crossed goggles and not a word of our commentary is going to reach their ears, much less are they going to listen. If you don't want to get stressed out over a video game, just avoid the drama and play the game wherever you enjoy it.

I'm very sad and disappointment that a game that can be considered the ultimate sandbox for unlimited freedom and creativity has such restrictions on said creativity on it's marketplace, a supposed place to share unlimited creativity. Shame on you Mojang and Microsoft.

I think this only applies only if the ONLY way to get mods is through that paywall, but it is possible to find these same mods for free online, they don’t do anything to stop you from getting it for free, but make it easier to do so through them at a cost.

There are ways to download mods for free on bedrock.
But they don't work on most devices or are really difficult to download.
I usually use mcpe, which does take a while most of the time, but is really efficient sometimes
if it's a .mcaddon file, it can be loaded onto the minecraft app through the files app on iOS, I am uncertain of other OSs, however. I personally use mcpedl, they have many authorized ports of Java mods and even more unique content.

@@WriggleNightbug Eh, for the right model problem, you could install a modchip, though I guess you’re flat out of luck if you’re afraid of bricking your device and don’t wanna pay extra.
For getting banned online, there are many ways to make that outcome highly unlikely. I have exosphere (and something else I don’t remember the name of) on my Emunand, and simply block any connections to Nintendo on my emunand. Didn’t get banned yet. As of updating the save on your Sysnand, yes, that always Carries the risk of a ban. Adjusting a save file on your Sysnand is high risk, high reward, that’s the game.
Microsoft’s lack of quality control has partially ruined the marketplace but there is still some gems. Also bedrock players on most platforms can still download things for free

The problem is that you can charge for it, that floods the market with people trying to make a quick buck, while those making Java mods are only the ones who have a passion for it typically

The most hypocritical part about mods being sold on the market place is the fact that Microsoft will dmca any Minecraft Java mod that is being sold for money, while happily sell mods, my bad, “addons” for large amounts of money.
Most Marketplace purchases especially when their worlds is essentially just a lag fest

MCPEDL has been around for years, it has many many many free mods/addons, please don’t waste your money on the marketplace.
@@RealMagmaDash I got some coins when I first picked up Bedrock and used them exclusively on character items (notably a jacket and back wings), I know better than to waste my money on the marketplace, especially since I've been a modded Java player for years before that.

I pay for realms monthly for a server that is barely ever used by anyone but me, but it lets me use a bunch of marketplace stuff for free at least
The worst part about tan $20 skins, is that you can make your own skins for bedrock as well, it’s just slightly more complicated.

You're allowed to import skins using image for iOS, a place like Skinseed would be a very good place to actually get the image.

Finally, a Java player who recognizes the struggle of bedrock players. I’ve heard Java players complaining about us having the market place and not them. I would trade the mods Java has for the marketplace without a single thought!

Honestly, while I guess there’s no harm in having a Java Marketplace, it would never make it, mainly because I’m 90% sure whatever Mojang has its underpaid developers make is going to be leagues worse that what the community has already made. Java has some g r e a t mods, and I feel bad for y’all.

Don’t forget that buying a ‘marketplace pass’ gives you access to a supposed 150+ of these mods for free, with which about 95% of which having no use at all.
You can't even get a refund for accidental purchase
There are some texture packs that make it to have to verify that you want to purchase something

There is literally no reason to play bedrock, excluding pocket and console edition, now that you get both java and bedrock on purchase
Bedrock is decent. I don't like Java's first person camera, and its Redstone but I do adore their shaders, mods and redstone builds.
Also, we can make a modloader on Bedrock too, but the process of reverse-engineering is a pain.
Edit: personally: bedrock for vanilla, friends, redstone, pvp, coding; java for shaders, mods, community-based events

I recently saw the Tinkers construct mod on bedrock. Not having a computer I got exited, I could finally play with it. I bought it and even set up a realm for my friends. The mod was horrible, the first wrinkle was the forge had a set size you couldn’t make it any bigger. I could live with that but it got so much worse once I built the thing. The first problem is that you can functionally only have one thing in the furnace, if you put say 10 iron into the furnace the increase efficiency gives back 12.3 but the only way to remove iron is in 9 or 3 increments. This means you can’t empty it, this would be fine but if I then melt gold the iron keeps removal priority meaning I it no longer functions. I could have lived with this but when I built another one for just gold I realized it was coded wrong or something because all gold turns into emeralds and all emeralds turn into gold. Still I payed money for this and I was determined to make the most of it I would get put the emeralds back in to turn them to gold. Then I realized the multiplier apply’s to already melted items effectively turn the mod into a duper.
FTB is so bad at putting mods on Bedrock. first Stoneblock, now Tinker's Construct. whats next, an EE2 remake thats just a reskinned crafting table?

Bedrock edition is pretty cool, excluding mojang absolutelly fucking up making even minor updates stable, but the marketplace is AWFULL, like before february there weren't add ons on it, which means, that you could only buy maps, skins and maybe resource packs. Tinker's construct is cool tho, and i understand the appeal of making money from content that would legaly have to be free on java. As always: we're talking about a multibilionaire corporation, so the best us, bedrock players can do, is ignore it or get a resource pack that deletes the button.

It's worth mentioning that, unlike with games like Skyrim, Minecraft modders on Java are not allowed to monetise their mods and from what I understand they can't even set up patreons directly linked to their modding
This is incorrect, I believe. The Aether fork mod has a patreon, the decimation mod pack (that was made out of custom mods) had a donation site, etc. I believe create does too?

It takes some modifying. But as long as you can access root files for console bedrock, you can download add-ons completely free. Same with skin packs and textures. It's a pain in the ass but it works, theoretically...
It does work. I’ve installed addons on my modded switch. However, any large addon will essentially make Minecraft either unbootable, or incredibly slow to start, plus you likely won’t be able to actually use that addon without being forever stuck on a loading screen (I only tested one large addon).
