- I love the DJI Pocket 3 for video, but how does it do in the photo modes? I've had multiple people ask me that question and I never had an answer till now...

I bought the pocket 3 as a camera for stills photography. So far I’ve been very impressed with the results. However, the raw files I struggle with. Can’t seem to get pictures anywhere near as good as the sooc jpegs. But I have found that the jpegs stand up really well to editing, especially in Snapseed. I have zero complaints, even when viewed on my 65” 4K tv. Aspect ratios are pretty subjective. Luckily I’m ok with 16:9.
Honestly would be great if they have great photo capabilities too. I do like the FOV on the Osmo Pocket 3 since in video it doesn't apply any crop like smartphone does which helps it get a wider FOV than a smartphone too. Maybe if they can slap a 12MP, dual stacked sensor from Sony for even better low light sensitivity and then a faster camera processing and it'll definitely have just as good of a photo camera as the videos are. The DJI Pocket 2 did have good photo capabilities.
I was contemplating if 4:3 is a great aspect ratio for videos since cropping into a vertical format would be easier, but maybe just have vertical mode with the gimbal like they did on the DJI Mini 4 Pro 😂.
Thanks 🙏 try shooting in 3x3 panorama mode 👍
I tried a lot to shoot photos with my pocket 3 but all photos looks blurry, even that the camera has a mechanical gimbal. Also this camera has only 9 megapixels sensor, this is not so good for photos if you want to edit those photos. Dji decided to keep this low megapixel sensor because it helps with low light video shoot.
Maybe with DJI Osmo Pocket 4 we'll get at least 12MP unit. Same sensor size, same low light performance, better photos. Maybe the dual stack sensor from Sony too.
I'm surprised you don't have or haven't looked at any of the insta360 cameras within a family environment? Would love to hear your perspective. Great content BTW
Thanks! That is in the works! I’ve never been big into 360 cams but multiple people have asked me so I’m gonna try and test it out this summer
Do you think this is a good camera for a kid? I love when my kids capture their POV, but I don’t want it broken 🙈
It depends on the kid and their age/maturity. This camera is definitely more fragile than the Osmo Action 4 or the Insta 360 Go 2. Both of those cameras offer good POV but are more durable! Here is my video comparing the Pocket 3 and the Action 4.

If you use DJI Pocket 1 to take a photo, when you press the shutter button, it will delay for one second before taking the photo automatically. The photos taken will be clear and free of vibration and blur. Unfortunately, more than half of the photos taken with OP3 are blurry and unsightly. This problem has not been corrected for a long time, which is too bad. Its three-second time-lapse shooting is annoying because it wastes so much time!
Yeah the photos definitely have some flaws, but its hard for me to be too critical on it because I don't see it as a photo camera. It feels like an add on feature
Probably cause it's a 9MP images with no sharpening slap on it like a smartphone.
@@joelconolly5574 NO! The burry image came from the vibration of my figure touching the screen. 9MP image is perfect for 4K monitors or 4K TV screen.
@@raywu6787 ah no wonder. No worries then. But DJI probably still needs to fix their processing time for photos. Slower than smartphones tbh.
