Her talk gives me hope that there are still journalists like her who dare to make politicians accountable to their words and actions

Absolutely fabulous content beautifully presented. What is wrong with people get watching and right to the end! It's quite unlike staggering into a knitting shoppe in Bournemouth 🤔😊👏👏👏👏👏💐👍💖

This may be one of the best talks i have heard this year! So funny, pithy and mostly true.
I wish she spent sometime outlining some of the reasons there is reduced trust of the media and whether infact any of that mistrust is justified.
Otherwise a really enjoyable talk, perfectly delivered.

Or ever. But yeah, after stating many of her colleagues are lying sexist sexual predators, she says, but trust us! Why should we?

She is right about calling out a lie for what it is a lie to their faces. But then i suppose you would never ever hear a politican speak to an independant reporter. Also she is right that they should be made to explain and defend their policies in serious interviews where fact checking is nearly instantainous and if found to be lying have it pointed out in real time in real language.

Great when people have the guts to name names, but I'd like to ask her what she thinks about her own channel's output now largely consisting of dumbed down soft porn crap (a three part series on Jade Goody a recent "highlight"). Is Channel 4 news objective? I shouldn't be able to guess a news presenter's politics, but I nearly always can.

  • @dailyinterest9340

You can sum this speech up in two extracts: "Let's pretend that Channel 4 employs lots of working class people from the north of England................." (audience laughter) and "...and we can forget the idea that the public can judge for themselves what is true....." - I'd laugh if it wasn't such a sad indictment of the television and media industry. An awful hypocrite who clearly considers herself the wit in the room but in reality is simply out of touch with the majority of people. No doubt there weren't many working class people from the north of England in the audience. Diversity doesn't stretch that far. I suppose you are pretty sure to get the right type if you charge attendees a massive fee for the privilege of sitting and applauding such garbage.
