River was the greatest actor of his generation and a beautiful soul. Stand by Me, Mosquito Coast, Running on Empty and My Own Private Idaho are all brilliant performances.
River Phoenix was so thoughtful and humble - he caught himself inadvertently plugging his own upcoming movies and switched back to praising the crew & cast on the present film that he just finished. Class act all the way! We miss you, River 😢
I'm sorry about what happened to him, may he rest in peace. A smart sounding person in this interview- I thought- the world has missed out of better films.
How sweet he was when he talked about his band, you could tell he cared, he gives a detailed description from the spelling of the name to everything else. He certainly loved his music more than acting and everything that revolves around Hollywood.
Very sad he passed dude. I was always in love with Juaquin Phoenix as a kid after Walk The Line came out. My grandpa told me Juaquin’s brother actually died irl while watching Walk The Line, but he never told me why. Knowing his brother passed makes the scene in the movie where he’s watching his brother die a lot harder to watch knowing the real Juaquin did damn near the same thing. Rest in peace River
He was pushed into the Hollywood Machine by his mother so that she wouldn't have to work, and he supported a dozen or more people for years. When the pressure was too much and he "checked out", she immediately started pushing on Joachim to be the money machine.
nah, i think he loved his mother, but wanted to die. he had already 'made a name' for himself... he knew he'd be remembered by both his fans and the media and he was done. I think he still endured a lot, like for the time in which he lived he was very intelligent and perceptive so it couldn't have been 'easy'.
Its been over 30 yrs since his death. Loved the movie! So funny! I loved his work in Dogfight even more, and My Own Private Idaho was amazing acting, but as we know, He was excellent in everything he did! I also loved Running On Empty. He is still talked about and greatly loved! He was definitely one of a Kind! Would've been a one of those actors we pay tribute to, & as an older man, decades later! I know. He was a legend in his own time, and still is today. Miss his talent very much, and his love with the earth. ❤For River always.
He was supposed to play Jack in the movie Titanic but passed away. I think Johnny Depp had something to do with his passing. Sloan Bella did a reading on him and it's very interesting. She predicted the Diddy stuff going on and is very reputable. River was a beautiful soul and I love the shirt he's wearing!
"Kind of" "kind of" "kind of" "you know" "you know" He had played his character in 'Running on Empty' so well that people thought he was that person but he was not. His voice is smokey due to his chain smoking that he asked interviewers not to mention as he was leeping up a 'clean living' act. Opposite was true. As his Death exposed. The Real Jude Bottom was the person in the coffin. He often looked very sly. Or like he was testing the interviewer - are you gonna buy this?
3:38: I am genuinely confused. He said here that he was already included in Gus van Sant´s "My own private Idaho", and that he was about to film "Dogfight". In the latter, his hair was very short. In this video, his hair has a medium length, and there´s a famous portrait of his (taken by van Sant himself) where he is wearing an open flannel shirt with a t-shirt under, staring at the camera with his hair way longer than in this video, covering half his face actually. As I understand, van Sant wanted to take that picture before River cut his hair for "My own private Idaho". His hair here is noticeably shorter than his hair in "Love you to death". Did he just cut it down even more shortly after this interview to film "Dogfight" and then let it grow again to cut it just before filimin "My own private Idaho"? Everything in 1991?! Anyway, great hair.
He's always had fast growing hair. Look at when he was in Stand By Me and Mosquito Coast. His hair was really short in the movie(s). But whenever they did behind the scenes interviews or talk show interviews with him his hair was long again.
River was given a speedball lethal enough to kill 2 elephants. And because he drank it his body absorbed it slowly, and he thought he was okay. And that fool flea told people not to get a doctor. So don’t romanticize it. He was killed with a poisonous drink from his rivals.

@@jackriggan8585 That's amazing! ❤️
The best! OMG Mosquito Coast!
@originaltommy Absolutely! Great movie and performance.
Only "My Own Private Idaho" was good.
@@jackriggan8585what were they like? Also what did you talk about?
How can someone be so young yet so intellectual. He’s captivating and truly not of this world
River Phoenix was so thoughtful and humble - he caught himself inadvertently plugging his own upcoming movies and switched back to praising the crew & cast on the present film that he just finished. Class act all the way! We miss you, River 😢
I know 😢❤ he was just too precious for the industry.
Had he lived, River would now be regarded as one of the greatest actors of all time. A great old soul, I shall never forget him. God bless you Rio.
He was too magical for this plane.

Gone too soon, he had so much potential. He'll always be missed. RIP

What a handsome man, he could’ve been saved, he would’ve done so well and fit in today.
he is a special actor
god this guy is/was beautiful .....

I feel like talents like him and curt cobain would hate what the world is now. They're too deep thinkers for this internet superficial world
yes they are quite similar, and equally unique who made their own mark in our world
I see why Keanu and phoenix had a great brother connection two of the same kind so meek
2 down to earth guys with cool/original names.

Could have definitely seen him play Jack in Titanic… but Leo did a great job too
That film was vile garbage.
Never thought of that but ABSOLUTLEY!
@@MissPolice1 It's a racist film.
@@MarkHarrison733 riiiight.🙄
@@MissPolice1 Just the usual Anglophobic Hollywood garbage.
Talented and beautiful.
This may be my favorite interview of his ever

I just came here to cry.
River had a special thing about him. He was a regular guy also. Humble and different.
Very normal/healthy behavior here and then River got messed up about a year later after the making of My Own Private Idaho.
Yes, it was so sad to see the changes in his physical appearance and his demeanour 💔
No, there were issues brewing - else he wouldn’t have needed drugs to escape.
I love you so much my river Phoenix ❤❤❤💕💕💕
He was a Soul ahead of his time
He is perfect as daniel molloy if he hadnt passed too soon 😢
Please post another River Phoenix interview 🤞🏾🙏
He was gorgoeus!!!
I wanna turn back time to save him. Brandon lee. Heath ledger. 😦😦😦😦😦

Could have played Kurt Cobain if he lived n didn't die before Kurt himself.
🥰😘😍
beautiful 😍 but I find it a little strange! sometimes he escapes the gaze and looks elsewhere.
1990? after 3 years I would have been born. 🤦

Over hyped. Is he completely sober here? Dude seems immature and rambles too much.
Why do you care?
