Dear Sir, I have a long time experience in shoe polishing but let me first congratulate with you for your stunning results. I thought mine were very good but I must admit you are on another level. Maube you can help me. In My experience new cordovan shell "spits out" white after the usual polishing (Saphir with the tecnique you use and it has always worked perfectly on box calf)
Very cool. I will have to try the finger shine. I have gotten great results with a lot of brushing but man oh man is it a lot of brushing. If this is any faster Ill go with it.
Hi There Preston ! What To Use After Saphir Renovator : Saphir Pommadier Cream or Saphir Pate de Luxe Shoe Polish ? Many Thanks For The Knowlodge You Share. Best Regards ! Ed São Paulo 🇧🇷
Preston, quick question, I remember someone once said that Pate de Luxe because of the solvents it has might damage the shell so they recommended the Mirror Gloss. But in your experience, Pate de Luxe is safe to use?
Hi Preston! What about high solvents in saphir high gloss shine, that can penetrate in the shell structure and destroy its unique features? Heard like using it directly on shell cordovan might sort of compromise shell structure
Indeed the only wax you should use on cordovan is the mirror gloss as it almost doesn't contain solvents . Pate de lux is very rich in solvents and will damage the membrane structure. Sure it won't happen immediately..but within a few applications the membrane will start expanding...untill it rips..
Preston! Thanks for the video. I have some questions. I did this to my shell colour 8 viberg service boots tonight. I felt that the wax darkened them a bit - has that been your experience with this method? I had a hard time shining areas where two pieces of leather in the boot overlap (it's thick!). I ended up just cramming extra wax in the corners, retrieving the excess, dabbing with a brush, then re-shining the area with my fingers. It sort of worked. Do you have a similar challenge when you do this method? How close to the welt to you get with your fingers? Finally, do you finish off with swirls or straight back and forth from your fingers? Thanks again Preston! We love you.
Hi Preston, another great video, I found a a pair of Johnston and Murphy Aristocraft for $9.99 I shine them-with your technics and they look like new, great score!
Hi I'm going into the work force after this shout down and have had to change line's of work I now have to dress up and have never owned dress shoes what do you recommend for a budget and longevity wise in a dress shoe
Two questions: 1. Would you use Saphir Mirror Gloss instead of or in addition to the Pate de Luxe? 2. If I’ve already done the Renovateur whole shoe coat, Saphir Cordovan Cream whole shoe coat and Saphir Pate de Luxe / Mirror Gloss combination toe cap mirror shine, what would be the best way to remove all that before trying this method?
Mirror gloss is a very dry formula so I found it’s just a little harder to try but it works. No need to remove anything. Just just a tiny bit it wax and give it a try
You can use a riny amount of pate de lux after a couple of good layers of mirror gloss.. that way its solvents wont affect the shell..but help mirror gloss melting a bit better.
How would you go about shining black shoes with light brown edges (I hope that's the right word... The bottoms of the shoes where the heals and stitching are). I want to shine my shoes but don't want to risk getting black shoe polish on the brown parts.
I do not apply wax or cream polish with my fingers. A dry cloth with cream and water and a cloth for wax polish. I believe a higher shine on Shell Cordovan would be achieved with this method.
What really annoy me is when looking intentionally on my Shell cordovan shoes when they're catching the light. there're so many thin small scratching lines from horsehair brush. Im quiet sure my brush is soft enough which I also use it with other calf leather shoes. Do you think that is normal? shoes are meant to be wearing, brushing and taking care. but with the price I paid for them I cant get my mind off that I also have ruined them. So sad.
Hi There Preston ! What About Saddle Soap, Acetone and Hydranting Before Applying Any Wax ? Is This How to Work With Shell Cordovan ? Many Thanks ! Best Regards ! Ed São Paulo 🇧🇷
I don't have a pair in shell cordovan and I thought that the natural oils would mix with wax and make it look dull (not unlike grease on work boots makes them hard to polish)
Hi, i tried this method using the same Saphir wax product you used, but the wax on the cordovan got dry pretty fast while I was rubbing it with my fingers… I tried putting on more wax, but same problem persisted. Any tips?
What wax do you recommend for black leather boots. Is for my military dress uniform. I been using kiwi but is not enough, I need something a lot more shiny.... Any good brand you recommend?
Something I always wonder about is if you want shiny shoes, just get patent leather. Otherwise let your beautiful leather, be it cordovan or calfskin, be beautiful (that is well looked after as in cleaned and conditioned with maybe a light sheen but not shined to hell so it rivals patent leather). Then again those are your shoes and you can do with them whatever you like anyways ofc - obviously including turning them into faux-patent-leather - but it just seems incredibly, well, “nonsensical” to me. Maybe someone can enlighten me here…
As a medicine student who should be studyong rn, this is very important to me!
Shoes first, career and life goals second
That shell cordovan is absolutely stunning. What a depth of color. Great job, Preston.
On your recommendation, I used this technique on a dull pair of shell and it worked wonders.
Nice! Glad it helped
Another great video, Preston! Happy Father’s Day in advance!
Worked brilliantly for me, thanks Preston.

Insulted? That's funny! If Preston Soto says it works, count on it!😄
I thought the same thing… insulted over a shoe care technique is pretty funny to me.
Fantastic improvement! I have five pairs that need this treatment.
Give it a try. It’s been the method I keep coming back to
Beautiful ❤️
Hey if they don't like the way you shine them they don't have to shine them that way. I personally think they look wonderful! Great work!
Thanks Shelly. Hope you are well!

Amazing tutorial, thanks PS!!
I bought a shell cordovan and it's hard as a rock. How do you make the shell soft to make it somewhat comfortable?
Preston, quick question, I remember someone once said that Pate de Luxe because of the solvents it has might damage the shell so they recommended the Mirror Gloss. But in your experience, Pate de Luxe is safe to use?
Mirror gloss is fine as it’s very dry with hardly any solvents.

Thanks Antonio. Good find!
What do you recommend to cover the entire shoe with as the saphir was better for spot treatment? :)
It looks like you are using neutral on these is that correct? And is that what you reccomend?
He recommends Mahogany in the description but seems to use Neutral in the video. I'm confused too.
Either works fine. Wax has such little pigment and you’d be using so little of it to shine, it doesn’t matter what color you use.
I love trift shop🚀

Will a deer bone, renovateur and saphir cordovan cream be able to deal with water stains on Horween shell?
Love the whole process in this. Really amazing 🙏🏻

Hey Edson. Only use Saphir cordovan cream and Pate de lux, no saddle soap or anything else
Can you add some nuance, change the color a little... custom burnish shell cordovan shoes ?
How do you remove the wax if it built up during the time?
Typical cleaners would damage the leather, wouldn‘t they?
You can use Saphir gentle cleaner, which is very delicate or use hair dryer to melt it off gently and use a rag to wipe it off with pressure.
will wax crack if we do a mirror shine on shell ?
Sir, can i use acetone on a shell cordovan?

You’re supposed to wet your fingertips every now and then.
How can I send you a pair of shoes!? 😢
Beautiful work. Got to ask, why don't you wear gloves when handling the shoes especially the base of the shoe?
I wear them sometimes and sometimes I like to go raw
Wax on stretch or flex points will not crack??
No, it’s not a mirror shine. You’ll get normal
Blooming from shell cordovan but it’s the wax cracking.
@@TheElegantOxford copy that
how do your fingers do that....mine get stuck to the thing
Don’t use too much wax at a time or it can get tacky

Saphir Pate de Lux or Mirror Gloss for sure. You can find some at TheElegantOxford.com
It's good to see you back. I was hoping you are ok--pray you haven't taken jab.

Hell yes :-)

Good to see you again
bone, deer?xx
It’s not necessary with this method. Your fingers can be used to massage folds in the shell. Works just as well.
@@TheElegantOxford I believe you; I just wish I had a pair of shell cordovan shoes o try on!! Glad to have you posting; hope your family are wellx

The way you stroke your shoes with two fingers is almost sexual!
Or is that just me? 🤣

First
I don't use wax on my shoes.
Is it just me or is there a massive puncture in the right shoe at the beginning?!
I thought the same
It’s just dust. You can see there is no puncture on the shoe when it’s done
man your fucking camera needs to focus faster
Take it up with Canon 😂
