When people tell their Andre stories their eyes instantly water up as do mine.
George Allen invited Andre to Redskins training camp in '74..
He made Deacon Jones look like a cornerback.. Allen had the idea that he wanted Andre for the sole purpose of blocking extra points and field goal attempts.. In practice, Andre blocked almost every kick attempt.. Allen wanted to sign him, but Lloyd's of London wouldn't insure him, ending Andre's NFL career..
There's a picture of Andre and 5'11" Joe Theismann on the net from that '74 training camp..
Andre's been dead for 25 years and talk show hosts still talk about him more than they do their actual guests LOL. #LegendsNeverDie

@@wdcegtjdh Certainly not. At least not in Québec. It's mostly a matter of demographic. The younger people don't know him, because they don't seem to care about anything or anyone that came before them :P But people who were alive when André was wrestling, for the most, know about him.
You can tell Andre really endeared himself to everyone in the crew. Robin tells the same story in the extras for the DVD and she gets a little choked up at the end.
Ive heard/read stories that he was not very nice when people tried to get autographs at the airport, but I can definitely understand that, especially if he is in a rush or having a bad day. The story of him flipping over a car that had 4 guys (who were being an ass to him in a bar), and the cops didnt believe them when they showed up that one man flipped a car is awesome. Lucky enough to at least seen him perform live and up close.
Cyrin that's totally understandable if he was so tired of being in the road foe a long time. The HBO docu said, Andre did a great deal of traveling between territorial wrestling matches.
Well, nobody in their right mind would say anything bad about him when he was alive and you can't speak badly of the dead.... so who knows?
I'd let him be right after a plane ride. You can only imagine what he went through every trip.

He would’ve hurt Adam Page for disrespecting people who try to give him advice. Make no mistake about it. Andre wouldn’t have tolerate Page, Bucks, Perry, and maybe half the roster of AEW. Omega would’ve been the only one Andre might have shaken the hand of. Omega has a general understanding of respecting the legends.

It's amazing how much that story still means to her. She told the same one during an extra feature on one of the Princess Bride DVD releases and got very emotional. You could tell she was slightly taken back when Jimmy just outright laughed at the sweet story.

Billy Crystal put out a movie called "My Giant" several years later that was very obviously based on his experiences working with Andre. The movie overall is kind of meh, but there's one scene where Sam, his character, visibly disappears so Billy can come out and speak to the audience: a casting agent describes Max [possibly a callback to the name of his own TPB character] as a "big, stupid beast" and when Sam objects, the guy says, "Well, he looks stupid."
And Billy Crystal visibly squares up and yells, "He speaks five languages! How many do you speak?!"
I met Andre the Giant once. Television or pictures do not do justice to how big that man was.
7'4" and 560lbs. That man was a mountain.

Yeah... she’s had surgery of the plastic variety. Of this I feel overwhelmingly sure. Still gorgeous but she’s probably put more $ in her face then I make in a year. She just had it done well

Really wish some interviewers and reporters would start asking her more about "TOYS" (1992) with HER, Robin Williams, Joan Cusack, and LLCoolJ! Incredibly and Criminally Underrated Fantasy SciFi Comedy/Drama, Way ahead of it's time (why most people didn't get or understand it or it's hidden cultural references and politics) still one of my all time favorites! Plus there just has to be some major hardcore goofy funny and hilarious backstage hijinks/antics and stories, especially with THAT specific rare cast, and the story line and outrageous props and extravagant sets! So glad and happy we still have THIS ROBIN around and successfully working, but WE ALL greatly miss the other one dearly, R.I.P. Williams! And of course as always the Incredible ANDRE THE GIANT

once in the 80's I went to see WWF in Detroit. We had seats near by the entrance and when Andre came out, it was unreal how big he was.
I’m so glad she got to see that side of Andre. Apparently, he drank so much for pain relief that he wasn’t always pleasant.
He once passed out in a lobby of a hotel. Nobody could wake him nor could they move him. Remember he was over 7 feet tall and weighed close to 500 pounds. So the hotel staff put a blanket over him and waited until he woke up

This, folks, is how you rock grace at over 50. There were times where I’d see her pics in the 2000’s on and I was like she don’t look graceful and now I see this and I’m like wtf? Looks like her whole 40s she didn’t look good and now 50 she’s on point. I’m sure she didn’t have any surgery and she looks this fine. Wow. I always had a crush on her when she was Princess Buttercup.

It's still a great movie and it was so wonderful for someone to be able to write a story that gave Andre the stage he deserved to show the world what a wonderful person he was inside that could not have possibly been shown in the same fashion as it was in the years when when he wrestled in the WWF.
