Lol, its definitely something that takes some practice. Sorry to hear boosting later isn't helping. One thing you can try that I don't know if i mentioned is tilting back a little more when you ramp off the ledge. That might be worth trying. Also if you're on pc you can try turning down your fps as gravity will effect you less and make starting to learn a little easier. Hopefully this helps!
This is easier on keyboard and mouse as you only press two keys for direction and you are guaranteed to move that way where on controller you must move the stick in the perfect position to achieve the proper rotation.
Yeah I see what you mean, the added control on controller can definitely be seen as a hinderance, but once you get it down it’s nice to have that extra level of control with relatively minimal button input whereas on KbM you have to keep releasing and pressing the keys which may be difficult for less experience KbM players who haven’t developed that hand dexterity just yet. Either way, both inputs have their advantages and disadvantages but the most important thing is regardless of input both can still learn to fly.
How do you hold LT while pressing LB? Do you use your middle finger for LT, or do you use one finger for both buttons? Normally when I play I use my index finger for both because I don't need to press them at the same time, thanks!
Sorry for the late response, but yeah I use my middle finger for LT and my index for LB. It might take a little bit to get used to if you aren't already, but holding the boost during the slipstream isn't really too impactful. It gives you some speed and a little extra distance, but perfectly timed LBs will usually get the trick done in most scenarios without holding LT.
Sorry for the late reply, were you able to get it down? If not let me know some more about what exactly you think might be going wrong and maybe I can try to help out the best I can.
It could be the direction of your left analog stick. Make sure it is diagonal to the bottom left. Other than that, the slipstream sometimes naturally drifts a little to the right, but the more you practice, you'll develop more control and be able to direct your sparrow to where ever you are aiming at. Another thing that just came to mind is perhaps you are pressing LB too late. I know I said later is better, but if you wait too long to the point where your sparrow is already upright, your sparrow will just be dragged to the left, so be sure to aim for around the spot I showed in the video. Hopefully that helps, but if not let me know exactly what step you think is causing the problem in detail and I will do my best to try and help out.
@@chogg4798 As far as when you run out of dodges, it all depends on where you are slipstreaming. If it's something like the ribbon room in prophecy, I usually stay on my sparrow and keep the form of my roll until I regain my boost, and then once it's full I go back to dodging at the proper times. This only really works if you have a decent amount of space beneath you where you can survive the one or two rolls you'll be doing without dodging. If there isn't the space beneath you, I usually try to time hopping off of my sparrow while rolling to propel myself forward (I believe this is known as a sparrow flick) but it is very easy to die while doing this method because your sparrow can hit you too hard depending on the timing. As far as the video you linked, I think you may be boosting too late/have your left stick pointed too left instead of diagonal, so try a little bit sooner/more diagonal. Let me know if this helped/you have any more questions and I'll do my best to get back to you as soon as I can!
Sorry for the delay, but if you're going to the left, you're most likely pressing LB too late in the roll. I'd say try pressing it a little bit sooner. If you're still running into the issue, let me know a little bit more and I'll do my best to help.
Sorry for the delay, but usually you can only chain slipstreams when you have a decent space to work with beneath you like in the ribbon room in the prophecy dungeon because there is enough space to recover for the lost height when waiting for your boost to come back. In the hell mouth it is a little bit more difficult, but if you focus on timing your dashes to get more height in the first set of boost, you should have enough time to recover enough boost to make it all the way across.
For sure, it’s mostly a timing thing so just try to make sure you aren’t pressing the bumper too early, but if you feel your timing is spot on there’s a few other things you can do to hopefully get you flying. If you happen to be on pc, you can turn your frame rate down and gravity will affect you less which will allow you to fly more easily. Also, if you still find yourself losing height, try tilting your sparrow back more vertically when you go off the ramp initially before you transition into the diagonal roll. If you wanna see an example, my latest sparrow vid talks about both the FPS and tilting back to get more height. At the end of the day it’s just something you gotta get the feel for and if you keep practicing you can definitely get it down! Hope this helps!
Are you using the same exact sparrow as me or at least one with destabilizers? If not, this could be why the sparrow isn't rolling like mine. On the other hand, if the sparrow does have destabilizers, perhaps you could be on different controller binds, so maybe check and make sure you're air roll/brake is on RT. Hopefully this helps!
@@Kusunda i was using the taken one, i finally got it after months, i have no idea what i was doing wrong, but now i can do this, and i can control it to go vertical or horizontal and do slip flicks too, its so fun i really appreciate the video, great stuff thank you
If you are going downwards, chances are you might be pressing the wrong bumper or might be pressing the bumper too early or late. Try to get the flap more vertical before pressing LB and that should do the trick. As far as the momentum, it comes from good timing/letting the sparrow pop up, but generally you see yourself improving with more and more practice so just keep at it and you should be going faster in no time. Hope this helps!
It would be hard to say exactly what would help without actually seeing it or hearing a little more, but if you’ve done it a few times already it sounds like all you need is just practice. It takes some time but I’m sure you’ll get more and more consistent if you keep at it.
I learned to go forward and stuff. But the thing is I keep going down. I'm seeing the angle where I'm doing my dodge and is correct. Is it because I'm holding my L joystick? Because I use dodge on the L joystick. I'm on PS4 btw
Sorry if I’m mistaken, but you’re saying you push the left joystick in to dodge? If that’s the case, perhaps when you go to push the analog stick in you accidentally end up messing up the roll. I’d personally recommend just getting used to using the bumper to dodge which I think is L1 for you, that way you can have the analog stick solely focus on keeping the roll clean and controlled.
Yep, all the timings and stuff I talked about will be exactly the same. All that's different is that fact that your destabilizer is Shift (unless you changed it) and instead of holding the analog stick to the bottom left you just hold A and S down to get the proper roll. To boost to the left you just double tap A. There's a lot of great videos with keyboard overlays you can search up if you want to see the inputs for yourself, but if you have anymore questions feel free to let me know.
It takes some time, just keep at it and I'm sure you will be able to get it soon! If you have any questions that you think I may be able to help with feel free to ask and I'll do my best to help you out.
@@Kusunda I got it for the first time about 15 minutes later. I need to work on the spin angle, letting go of all input, and speeding up my rolls and dodges. Had to watch the vid. So many times. But it really helped. Thanks!
@@matthewmitchell4573 Lol yeah, its all about fine tuning at that point. You've proven to yourself that you can do it so the more practice you put in the more consistent you'll become! Just keep at it and I'm sure you'll be happy with the results!
Keeping the boost on for the first few dashes definitely adds more speed, but it can be too much to control when starting out. Releasing the boost slows things down when you want more control which is why I recommend it when starting out/learning, but you will still gain speed through out the slipstream regardless of holding down boost because most of the speed comes from well timed dashes anyways.
I don't understand, I am pressing completely different imputs for the same result. Either I found a new way of slipstreaming or you threw in more inputs then necessary
This is just a time stamp for me to learn : 2:39 Edit: Im trying and getting the first part correct, but cant seem to chain them together and just keep going down. I don’t think im pressing LB too late tho… Edit 2: finally got it after 3 hrs of practice total. Thanks so much, finally jumped the hell mouth. It wasn’t pretty but I got there.
@@BlurRequiem It’s kinda hard to explain what I do, it’s been a while since I figured out why it I wasn’t able to chain but I believe it was me pressing the button too soon. Just repeat the combo back to back but don’t spam because that can mess it up. Also don’t hold the flip button down. Just do it as if you are doing the first one. Best piece of advice I can give is be patient and don’t panic spam the buttons. Also i figured out looking up slightly while slip streaming helps stay up higher.
Sorry for the late reply, but it could be a couple of things. If by "off track" you mean going to the sides instead of straight it could probably be either: 1. The timing of the dash (RB press). 2. Where the camera is pointing. If you find yourself going off to the side a bit, try to aim your camera to the side of where you want to go to counteract the drift. It will take some time until you have full control over the direction so just keep trying different things and you'll eventually get it down. Hope this helps!

I really appreciate it thx for the work👍
How do you hold LT while pressing LB? Do you use your middle finger for LT, or do you use one finger for both buttons? Normally when I play I use my index finger for both because I don't need to press them at the same time, thanks!
Sorry for the late response, but yeah I use my middle finger for LT and my index for LB. It might take a little bit to get used to if you aren't already, but holding the boost during the slipstream isn't really too impactful. It gives you some speed and a little extra distance, but perfectly timed LBs will usually get the trick done in most scenarios without holding LT.
I keep going upside dowm after the firsy rotation
:/ need more tips on the initial rolling Im going to have to take a break because this is frustrating
Sorry for the late reply, were you able to get it down? If not let me know some more about what exactly you think might be going wrong and maybe I can try to help out the best I can.
Is this patched? I tried this for 17 hours straight, I just keep blowing up as soon as I go off the ledge
This was perfect for me thanks!
Glad to hear it helped!
2 hours, 200+ deaths, so close yet so far!
Lol, it's definitely rough in the beginning.
Why do I go sideways sometime
It could be the direction of your left analog stick. Make sure it is diagonal to the bottom left. Other than that, the slipstream sometimes naturally drifts a little to the right, but the more you practice, you'll develop more control and be able to direct your sparrow to where ever you are aiming at. Another thing that just came to mind is perhaps you are pressing LB too late. I know I said later is better, but if you wait too long to the point where your sparrow is already upright, your sparrow will just be dragged to the left, so be sure to aim for around the spot I showed in the video. Hopefully that helps, but if not let me know exactly what step you think is causing the problem in detail and I will do my best to try and help out.
ay ay ay...been tryna learn this for about 6 months now, still can't get it...i swear was easier learning skate timings perfectly than this for me ;-;
I can get the first sequence down but any successive boosts don’t give me any height or speed
make sure you arent holding down the destabilize button while ur boosting
do you have any tips on the transition to the next part of the slipstream (when you run out of dodges)?
)
ruclips.net/video/tHXJxTVUatM/видео.html
@@Kusunda Thanks a lot for the advice, I can now consistently get across the "large hole". Very helpful.
I dont know if it's even possible on ps4 I'm trying it and it's not really cancelling my downward momentum when I dodge left
It’s should work on ps4, just try to focus on the timing of the dodge to where the flap of the sparrow is more vertical and that should help.
Idk what I'm doing wrong but after I press Lb and try to role with rt I just go down
Same
Can u explain what am I doing wrong? I do the first ones right but in the last ones my sparrow starts going to the left and loses it's speed
Sorry for the delay, but if you're going to the left, you're most likely pressing LB too late in the roll. I'd say try pressing it a little bit sooner. If you're still running into the issue, let me know a little bit more and I'll do my best to help.
@@Kusunda No problem Haha, thank u so much I am accomplishing it now 😁😁😁😁
What if you run out of boost? I feel like i can't make it because halfwat in i lose boost
I've been trying this for three days, and I feel like I'm missing something. It feels like my boosts do not give me any height, nor speed. Any tips?
Its been 4 months since i tried and i still dont get it, i pull the stick to the bottom left and my sparrow doesnt even look remotely like yours
@@Kusunda i was using the taken one, i finally got it after months, i have no idea what i was doing wrong, but now i can do this, and i can control it to go vertical or horizontal and do slip flicks too, its so fun i really appreciate the video, great stuff thank you
@@Kusunda I think i may have been pressing left bumper a little early which would always ruin the entire process, i have it down easy now
@@Au-Li- I appreciate the kind words and I’m glad to hear you were able to get it down! Have fun out there flying!
Is necessary have this especiffic sparrow?
Nope, any sparrow that can roll will do but this one is best because it has the most boost.
Does anyone know how to stop from just instantly going down once u press the bumper? And how do u get so much momentum
HOW THE HECK DO YOU HAVE THE THIRD PERSON CAMERA SO FAR AWAY?????!!!?!!
I can do it but I can’t get the inputs consistently, and I don’t know what I’m doing wrong
It would be hard to say exactly what would help without actually seeing it or hearing a little more, but if you’ve done it a few times already it sounds like all you need is just practice. It takes some time but I’m sure you’ll get more and more consistent if you keep at it.
@@Kusunda Alright, thanks, I’m gonna keep trging
@@Kusunda ok thanks for the advice
Just started trying it (Hard as heck) but this can work with other sparrows right? As long as they have destabilizers?
Sorry for the delay, but yep. As long as they have destabilizers it should work.
Can this be done with keyboard and mouse?
Yep, all the timings and stuff I talked about will be exactly the same. All that's different is that fact that your destabilizer is Shift (unless you changed it) and instead of holding the analog stick to the bottom left you just hold A and S down to get the proper roll. To boost to the left you just double tap A. There's a lot of great videos with keyboard overlays you can search up if you want to see the inputs for yourself, but if you have anymore questions feel free to let me know.
I need your help please I play on ps4 what are the controls of the last part ?
Sorry for the delayed reply, I don't play PS, but I believe xbox's LB is your L1 and destabilizers/RT should be on your R2.
I’ve been trying this for 3 hours. Haven’t gotten across the hellmouth.
Thanks!
@@Kusunda lol. My luck, I’m either spinning out of control, or flying further than even in your video. I have no idea what changes.
@@matthewmitchell4573 Lol yeah, its all about fine tuning at that point. You've proven to yourself that you can do it so the more practice you put in the more consistent you'll become! Just keep at it and I'm sure you'll be happy with the results!
im always so close but then my sparrow just spins like crzy
If you keep spinning too fast, you can always try to hold rt for less time to keep the roll more controlled. Hopefully this helps!
Does releasing the boost prevent you from gaining speed?
Keeping the boost on for the first few dashes definitely adds more speed, but it can be too much to control when starting out. Releasing the boost slows things down when you want more control which is why I recommend it when starting out/learning, but you will still gain speed through out the slipstream regardless of holding down boost because most of the speed comes from well timed dashes anyways.
Who’s here because they’re trying to get the second vault of glass, secret chest, and can’t land sparrow lmfao
I don't understand, I am pressing completely different imputs for the same result. Either I found a new way of slipstreaming or you threw in more inputs then necessary
I simply tried my best to explain how I do it. Sorry if I confused you, but I'm glad to hear you got it down.
this is the worst mechanic to learn but the reward is worth it...
I still cant do it after trying for about 20 hours
It's definitely a tough one to learn, but you definitely got this!
can you do it to the right? i’d prefer doing it to the right
Yep, just swap the bumpers and hold the analog stick diagonally to the other side and you should be good.
This is just a time stamp for me to learn : 2:39
Edit: Im trying and getting the first part correct, but cant seem to chain them together and just keep going down. I don’t think im pressing LB too late tho…
Edit 2: finally got it after 3 hrs of practice total. Thanks so much, finally jumped the hell mouth. It wasn’t pretty but I got there.
What helped you start the chain? I'm struggling to chain them together aswell
Also, best of luck slipstreaming. Its a lot of fun once you get it down.
Can you slipstream on console or only pc?
It’s possible on both platforms, and both inputs.
Yo my sparrow won’t even roll and I’m doing exact same thing you doing
Maybe your sparrow needs the destabilizer perk. Feel free to let me know if you have any more questions.

You definitely got this, just keep at it!
This has no dislikes impressive
Because its such a good guide
Is it done the same way in D1?
Honestly, I was kind of a big noob back in D1 and I never even knew about slipstreaming back in the day, so unfortunately idk. Sorry.
@@Kusunda ok thanks
Why do I go off track when i slipstream
Same
Sorry for the late reply, but it could be a couple of things. If by "off track" you mean going to the sides instead of straight it could probably be either:
@@Kusunda yea thanks. Been trying some different stuff and Camera angle has been a factor in it thanks
@@xgem5378 Awesome, glad to hear you were able to get it down!
@@Kusunda btw is it normal to go further slipstreaming without boost or?
