I swear, when John tried to sneak downstairs to go answer the door I was literally loudly whispering "NO! DONT! THE POLICE ARE THERE! YOU HAVE TO WAIT!" He was literally a second away from getting killed cuz if you get too close to the room he's in, he'll charge out and kill you. The police literally did save him there. 😂 Also, for those that don't know. If he'd gone into the parents room after the guy disappeared, he would have seen that the rooms window is open showing that he escaped through there. Another thing, the desk door wasn't open when he left to eat, but when you come back after, the desk door is open. Last one being the back door left opened after seeing the silhouette walking upstairs while eating. This game has some pretty cool little details that could easily be missed. The second episode does too. I hope he'll get to see them.

@@connectyours I think it's more likely they're inspired by stories told on message boards like Reddit or 4Chan, judging by how they frame it. Kravin missed that detail when he played the game so I got mildly annoyed when he thought he just *had* to die. No, the game specifically tells you that's not the correct ending. this game creeps me out because it's so realistic, especially with things like intruders. the creepiest is just not knowing his motivation. did he think no one was home? was he already watching the house? why did he go back outside? Was he after the kid? no idea, it's so unsettling
Well he certainly knew someone was home. It's quite possible he knew the parents were gone, as well. He specifically breaks into the house to get you and when he spots you from the blinds, he doesn't go away and attacks you. He's after _you._ When you come downstairs when Paula's ringing the doorbell he prepares to ambush you, meaning he's willing to risk getting caught just to lure you into a trap, which shows he's ballsy. On top of the fact that he scopes you out while there's still daylight out and isn't very subtle about lurking around the house, even breaking a window to force his way in, which means he's, at the least, more enticed by the hunt than he is afraid of getting caught by anyone.
Maybe the intruder wanted some lasagna too but ran away upstairs in horror, after having watched the kid use only his bare hands to consume an entire container of scalding hot floor lasagna straight out of the oven. But that’s just my theory. 🧐
Seriously ? This isn’t much better than « Hatch » yet you were all trashing it a few months ago. Why is john a muppet now? Why isn’t he complaining more?

16:10 Ringing the doorbell is actually a bait tactic. It's to make people within the house, believe the glass breaking was a mere accident, so they'd go down and check.
I also wondered if it was in case the glass breaking had woken the person up. Hey John, I'm pretty sure these are real stories and experiences from survivors, and the devs just changed a few things to make it seem more “game worthy.” the text at the start is from the narrators POV, that I'm aware of. Also, me at 14: took naps all the time because I was literally too exhausted to do anything.
I love how all the RUclipsrs I've watched play this instinctively go back into their room when Mom tells us it's Paula at the door and see the intruder in Mom and Dad's room to wait for the cops, whereas I tried to sneak pass the intruder in Mom and Dad's room to get down the stairs to Paula and got caught like a dumbass.
John did do the realistic scenario in which he snuck past them. Perhaps u didn’t crouch when walking past or didn’t wait long enough before sneaking past, but it is still possible to get a good ending, just as John did. I’m glad to see there’s multiple ways of doing so, like with Gab she just waited under the bed for a long time and it triggered a good ending too.
@@calphotofilm He didn't sneak past him, John just got really lucky, once the cops come the killer no longer lunges at you for going at the stairs, if he had gone a second earlier than he did he probably would have died there.
Damn that was intense. I guess you only survived in the end because you waited long enough. Good on you! I would have stayed hidden, too, way to scared to leave that room. Hope the next episode comes fast, can't wait
I like the idea of developing interactive horror games out of other's actual testimonies, would like to see this sort of thing more often on the indie scene. Even if there's been attempts with community horror like this before, I feel like it's never been done to this degree and this well. Cool game!
Thank god for John. I've watched 4 playthroughs of this game, and NO ONE critiqued the interior decorating. It's one of the best things about indie horror!
You actually can be caught another way if you go to answer the front door before the police sirens can be heard. The creeper jumpscares you from the parents room as you round the stairs.
I really like the concept behind this game series. I like that it's more grounded in the real world, and I especially love a good home invasion concept
I mean, I’m really enjoying the game and gameplay, but hearing John judge the house’s interior design might be my favourite part of this video! please never stop judging videogame houses, John, you’re too good at it!😂
the creepiest part for me is when the intruder opens the parent's bedroom door and just stands there while you have to go down the stairs. i would have sat there for hours too afraid to move 🤣
this is a good game! the grainy filter, detailing in the sky, cars driving by, and general atmospheric design give it this really cozy nostalgic vibe that's probably relatable for a lot of people--and even if it doesn't remind you of your childhood specifically, it feels enough like a childhood that SOMEONE would have to be immersive and realistic. the pacing is super effective, and it gets legitimately unnerving and tense without a comically exaggerated plot or complicated mechanics. it really does feel like a recollection of something that happened to someone, and even if it's not a true story, it's pretty damn close to real experiences people have had with near-kidnappings or home invasions as a kid. (my favorite detail is actually that the mom refers to herself in third person when she's comforting the kid. i feel like it's pretty common for parents to revert back to the third person they used when babytalking their toddler even when their kid is older if they're scared enough 4 the kid. that one hit on some Childhood Memories for me because it's such human-feeling dialogue)
if john ever broke into a house he might really go " who put this shitty picture in this huge wall !?" then when he gets detained he'd be like: "i may be a petty thief but the real crime here is THAT CHAIR in the corner!"
I’m really glad you’re playing this! Although I doubt that all of this story is actually completely true, I like that they don’t try and make the scenario too absurd or unbelievable.
If I do remember it right, the dev does ask people to tell him their story. And he adds a lil bit of something to add to the horror. But just what's needed. Nothing to kill the original story.
Well it's based on a tell your true story on reddite and those are 95% fake so these are peobably fake too. However i like how these are very basic, very real life like and not too unrealistic.
The fact that it won't let you manually shut the curtains/blinds or lock stuff was an extra lack of security that my mind kept screaming for while watching- what a creepy game! Just forced to walk around anticipating a lurker... that atmosphere was definitely effective. Great video!
This 14-yr-old literally woke up from a nap just to eat AN ENTIRE BAKING PAN OF LASAGNA IN ONE SITTING, do homework, and then go back to sleep. Lasagna is so FILLING too! Did they not eat ANYTHING ELSE all day??? Was the last time they ate something ALSO 8 pm the previous night??? What is your LIFE, child.
Honestly your reactions made this game. It was so funny when you crawled from under the bed to go answer the door but saw the intruder’s shadow and your jaw dropped in silence and you just backed up back under the bed.
I 100% agree, home invasion horror spectacular. It's a very real, very relatable fear that's a breath of fresh air when there's so much supernatural horror out there.
2:00 the only way I fix my sleep schedule, is that I stay awake a little longer each day, so my schedule slowly shifts around the clock over the cours of a few weeks. "morning schedule" means I wake up in morning "afternoon schedule", etc.
I'm a simple watcher of videos. I see John playing a home invasion game and I click it and expect him to roast the interior design choices. I was not disappointed.
I already know what to expect from Kravin's videos on this, but the game still creeps me out effectively the second time around. It feels like the old creeper could come in at any moment.
You think you can get into my house *Second bite of lasagna in, creep is seen walking up the stairs* Yeah I think he can lol, no idea why he then leaves only to come back later but there's evidence he was in your room, homework messed with and your desk drawer open
As insanely creepy as the game is, I really do wonder why you see the intruder go upstairs, only for him to... apparently go back outside and then go in again. ._. I'm guessing the "Mom's so sorry" text was an awkward translation. I noticed a lot of small errors throughout the game that makes me think English wasn't their first language, anyway. Still, this is an extremely solid game for atmosphere and all its small and creepy occurrences.
13:56 I feel like growing up with water that is clean enough to drink from the tap is more bougie than having to drink bottled water, but that could just be me.
Yeahh i'm waiting for next episode John. That was pretty cool. I kinda loved the jump scare , i really enjoy seeing you scared because you don't scare easily
It kinda feels John would be a good big brother, or he's talking to his past self. Either way was pretty wholesome and awesome, I love games like there because they're more real
That was pretty neat! Very simple but effective at creating an unsettling atmosphere, especially considering the length of the game. I'd like to think that things like the person walking up the stairs would be either a case of paranoia or something the narrator added in after the fact (since it kind of spoofed reddit lmao), which frankly makes me excited to see if we get some unreliable narrators in the other episodes!
I was watching for minutes thinking, "Hasn't John played this before?" And then I realized I saw it on Alpha Beta Gamer a while back 😅 another great channel though
Something charming about John's commentary on teenagers, old people, and everyone else. It is near always is the opposite of what I see in my own life. Half the teenagers I know love to be lazy and nap all the time, while many of the old people I know are workaholics who have to be told to rest from time to time. I also will observe that most teenagers around me have the worst sense of home security, flinging open the door to anyone without even checking the peephole, leaving doors and windows unlocked and often open. Then, as if just to screw with my mind, they so often are terrified of the dark, reluctant to go out to do even minor things like step out into the yard for a moment without plenty of lighting. What a wild world we live in.
Helps to always have an open perspective on the world. Sometimes there are some generational + cultural differences that we can't even fathom because we're from a whole other part of the world.
That beeping noise in the beginning is the same feeling as when you just sit down for one second to relax and your mother calls your name to do more chores
So John, this game, these stories, are actual real life stories that people reached out to the dev when the dev was asking for people to turn their survivor stories into a game experience, so these are all real survivor stories. Obviously some things are included for a "bad end" route, or etc, to make an experience more like a game and less like a walking simulator with a completely linear story, but yeah.
You got the good ending because you waited long enough for the cops to arrive. If you had tried to go downstairs the creeper would’ve came out of the parents room and got you

Check out one of his recent videos talking about his 2 new channels
@@spikespiegel4928
"You spend millions on your house and this is your bed?! Couldn't be me."
I can't wait till the next upload
@@spikespiegel4928 He meant his own house
@@spikespiegel4928 what's the name of the channel
The sounds this protagonist makes while eating makes me hope he gets caught.
@@antonywayne8487 ohh ok, cuz there was still a shadow at the parents door tho when John sneaked past, so it seems like the killer was still there
Honestly the tension in this was really well done, cant wait for the next episode!
havent felt genuine tension like that from horror game in a while
The second one has even more tension. An hours worth
When you walk past the parents room and the door suddenly opened i was scared shitless… home invasion is definitely the scariest theme ever
Damn that was intense. I guess you only survived in the end because you waited long enough. Good on you! I would have stayed hidden, too, way to scared to leave that room.
Hope the next episode comes fast, can't wait
“I’ll fix my sleep schedule someday,” John says, as I weep watching this at 5am having not slept
I like the idea of developing interactive horror games out of other's actual testimonies, would like to see this sort of thing more often on the indie scene.
Even if there's been attempts with community horror like this before, I feel like it's never been done to this degree and this well. Cool game!
Protip, always lock all your doors and windows. Doesn't matter how "safe" your area is... crazy people wander. I've heard too many stories.
Same I always like my doors, even my bedroom door at night
Thank god for John. I've watched 4 playthroughs of this game, and NO ONE critiqued the interior decorating. It's one of the best things about indie horror!
Naps are the best once you get older, nap after work, nap after the gym, nap after a nap. *TIME AFTER TIME!*
You actually can be caught another way if you go to answer the front door before the police sirens can be heard. The creeper jumpscares you from the parents room as you round the stairs.
I really like the concept behind this game series. I like that it's more grounded in the real world, and I especially love a good home invasion concept
YES!! Been hoping to see your playthrough of this John :) I also hope you'll take a look at episode 2 when you have the time!
I've been wanting him to play this so bad
@@KayleighB13 same... almost everyone played it (other than cory) and john was left... the last one...
I think ep 2 is a way more better than ep 1
I mean, I’m really enjoying the game and gameplay, but hearing John judge the house’s interior design might be my favourite part of this video! please never stop judging videogame houses, John, you’re too good at it!😂
I thought it was weird why is this dude so bothered by interior design. Must be GAY!
@@garrysmith5562 Well jsuk hes not. He has a wife. Not like it would matter if he was though.
"Unlike you old people who always need to be asleep."
Ouch. Why you gotta do me like this, John?
John out of everyone playtroght he was the only one that didn't get caught for the first time playing.
Well done
the creepiest part for me is when the intruder opens the parent's bedroom door and just stands there while you have to go down the stairs. i would have sat there for hours too afraid to move 🤣
Man I’d have to jump over the railing and hope for the best lol
@@triggatrey2112 also a fair move LMAO
this is a good game! the grainy filter, detailing in the sky, cars driving by, and general atmospheric design give it this really cozy nostalgic vibe that's probably relatable for a lot of people--and even if it doesn't remind you of your childhood specifically, it feels enough like a childhood that SOMEONE would have to be immersive and realistic. the pacing is super effective, and it gets legitimately unnerving and tense without a comically exaggerated plot or complicated mechanics. it really does feel like a recollection of something that happened to someone, and even if it's not a true story, it's pretty damn close to real experiences people have had with near-kidnappings or home invasions as a kid.
Probably because the developer based this on real experiences he was told.
@@xFlareLeon oh sick, that's a really neat premise for a game :)
Hey havent watched your videos in 7 years, sandman series. Nice to see how large your channel has grown.
if john ever broke into a house he might really go " who put this shitty picture in this huge wall !?"
then when he gets detained he'd be like: "i may be a petty thief but the real crime here is THAT CHAIR in the corner!"
It was fun to see John's reaction to this. Can't wait for EP2!
However i like how these are very basic, very real life like and not too unrealistic.
watching this in my new house. home alone. while my fiancé is at work. this is fine.
The fact that it won't let you manually shut the curtains/blinds or lock stuff was an extra lack of security that my mind kept screaming for while watching- what a creepy game! Just forced to walk around anticipating a lurker... that atmosphere was definitely effective. Great video!
Most let's players are absorbed in the horror of the game. John is absorbed with the horror of this house's interior decorating.
Other YTers to the monster: "What the F is that?!"
John to the home's interior design: "What the F is that?!"
I love John's sassiness. Helps take the fear away lol
I'm rewatching John's horror gameplays videos!!! 😍😍❤❤ So exciting! John will always be one of my favorite..
Same! Bedtime with John Wolfe and psychological horror games❤
@@attentivechair3248 Definitely!! 😍😍 I hope John will play horror games again... 😍
Honestly.. this is how my kids operate too.. and I had the same messy schedule as a teen. It's awful, lol
That last jumpscare got me good! Simple but effective
The transition of emotions. Walked into parents room, heard the dog and saw someone "WHO'S THAT GUY? YOU SEE THAT GUY?" 😂 Idk funny to me.
Hell yeah I’d been hoping John would play this series for a while. Now I just need to finish work so I can actually watch it 🥲
I highly recommend the second episode it's so very good and it's even scarier it's my favorite out of the two
Do you know how to fix Skyrim data files and controller use?
@@matthewboyajian9593 what a strange place to ask this, are you on PC?

I swear, John will singlehandedly motivate indie-horror game devs to brush up on their interior designing skills just so he won't make fun of it.
Oh I love when my son sits and handfists lasagna into his mouth while watching TV, reminds me of good times! 😅
Just shovels it down with his hands and wipes them on the sofa is my fave

i dont really blame you for thinking mum's phone got hijacked, definitely seems like they were trying to make you feel doubtful
brilliant! im always kinda proud of you for playing all these home invasion games, because i remember you saying that its your phobia.
2:00 the only way I fix my sleep schedule, is that I stay awake a little longer each day, so my schedule slowly shifts around the clock over the cours of a few weeks. "morning schedule" means I wake up in morning "afternoon schedule", etc.
watched Gab play this, so happy to watch John play it as well!
*Hell yeah* thanks for -finally- playing this 😁
What?! I only watch John's playthroughs. 😁 Hype
Good thing that home wasn't HQ Residential House XD
I'm a simple watcher of videos. I see John playing a home invasion game and I click it and expect him to roast the interior design choices.
I was not disappointed.
I wouldn't be surprised if John becomes an interior designer or one of those house flippers lol
I already know what to expect from Kravin's videos on this, but the game still creeps me out effectively the second time around. It feels like the old creeper could come in at any moment.
John's commentary made this experience so much more interesting/entertaining
Finally!! Always wondered why you didn't play it when some others played it, I'm glad you finally did
You think you can get into my house
*Second bite of lasagna in, creep is seen walking up the stairs*
Yeah I think he can lol, no idea why he then leaves only to come back later but there's evidence he was in your room, homework messed with and your desk drawer open

I feel like growing up with water that is clean enough to drink from the tap is more bougie than having to drink bottled water, but that could just be me.
Yeah, it's more the difference between lower middle class and middle/upper middle class as opposed to between lower class and middle class
I watched this live on twitch, always a fun time watching you live John keep up the good work man
Just hearing the death static sound reminds me of Jolly with him saying, “My children need to beehave.”

I was feeling so bored and I opened my RUclips to this video posted 4 minutes ago 🙌🏻 thank you for the amazing content as always John!
Yeahh i'm waiting for next episode John.
That was pretty cool.
I kinda loved the jump scare , i really enjoy seeing you scared because you don't scare easily
“I gotta lock all the doors! Lock the door!”
*Opens door*
It kinda feels John would be a good big brother, or he's talking to his past self.
Either way was pretty wholesome and awesome, I love games like there because they're more real
That was pretty neat! Very simple but effective at creating an unsettling atmosphere, especially considering the length of the game. I'd like to think that things like the person walking up the stairs would be either a case of paranoia or something the narrator added in after the fact (since it kind of spoofed reddit lmao), which frankly makes me excited to see if we get some unreliable narrators in the other episodes!
John I know this is a horror playthrough but you don’t understand how many times you made me laugh with your damn commentary 😂😭😭😭
@@saveseason For true!
I am so excited for the full series of it. They know how to hike up the suspense!
John is so perceptive! I didn't know you could see the intruder go upstairs whilst on a couch or in the driveway! That's why I love this channel!
listening to john talk about fonts is one of my favourite things
That beeping noise in the beginning is the same feeling as when you just sit down for one second to relax and your mother calls your name to do more chores
So John, this game, these stories, are actual real life stories that people reached out to the dev when the dev was asking for people to turn their survivor stories into a game experience, so these are all real survivor stories. Obviously some things are included for a "bad end" route, or etc, to make an experience more like a game and less like a walking simulator with a completely linear story, but yeah.
You got the good ending because you waited long enough for the cops to arrive. If you had tried to go downstairs the creeper would’ve came out of the parents room and got you
John you are the man. BUT PLEASE stream more Inscryption! I rewatched the first two parts and noticed how much you loved the game, and you're just getting into the thick of it! (and also episode 2 of Fears to Fathom is awesome)
It's so much fun when John enjoys the games he is playing.
