  • Everhood is freaking phenomenal. It takes the quintessential formula of rhythm games, says, no no, let's do it this way, and you spend the entire game dodging rhythm, not hitting the rhythm like in every other rhythm game. Not only that but the story is surprisingly deep, evocative, and genuinely one of my favorite game experiences of 2023. I highly recommend you explore it, not to mention: it's short. 10 hours?

Euthanasia Rollercoaster to me is that song that reflects the entirety of the story and your efforts to a figurative spearhead, and it does so incredibly well.
Kinda like a finger that finally points you in a direction and just says "Go get'em".

Just gonna leave this here, but I tried to hung myself a while ago and this song really reminds me of that experience, first I thought everything would end but after sometime a desperation came over me, not long after that I felt like I didn't want my life to end there and struggled to get down, it's hard listening to this song but somehow it's one my favourites too.

The Euthanasia Coaster is a hypothetical steel roller coaster designed as a euthanasia device to kill its passengers.[1] The concept was conceived in 2010 and made into a scale model by Lithuanian artist Julijonas Urbonas, a PhD candidate at the Royal College of Art in London. Urbonas, who has experience as an amusement park employee, stated that the goal of his concept roller coaster is to take lives "with elegance and euphoria".[2] As for practical applications of his design, Urbonas mentioned "euthanasia" or "execution".[3] John Allen, who served as president of the Philadelphia Toboggan Company, inspired Urbonas with his description of the "ultimate" roller coaster as one that "sends out 24 people and they all come back dead".[4] - Wikipedia lol. I feel the inspiration behind the title of the song alone adds a great deal of meaning! This song and final fight are a final ride- its exciting & joyous yet precarious and melancholic. The universe knows it must end, but it chooses to go out with a bang.

This song is the embodyment of the end of the world for Everhood.
You, Pink/Red finally are about to complete your main objective, you're the only one who can end the cicle of eternity that that world has lived during god know how much time and the universe instead of just letting you finish it with a blow says "fk it, one more fight, the last fight, i don't care, you're going to win anyways but let's go with a blast" and my god, it's a blast.
The glitches are the world starting to end and that magnific song ending in nothingness.. my god, peak.
    "There are no absolute truths.
You are free to wrap your half-truths into whatever,
that is the true beauty of it.
You can make the rest up.
You still have a long time left
    and some after that.
    Take care of yourself."
    A friend

Euthanasia Rollercoaster is just one of those songs that feels so... purposeful I guess?
If you're listening to this song blind without having context sure it still sounds excellent but the entire piece still feels off somehow
But when you're playing the game every single part of this song makes sense in some from all of the weird glitchy hiccups to each of the tone shifts throughout. There is no way to truly describe how it makes you feel from start to end so if you get anything from Marco's video please know that Everhood is absolutely worth your time, it's permanently on sale for only $10 considering how much of an extraordinary experience it is

There's something so speaking and really resounding about fucking MLG HORNS blasting away at glitches that interrupted whole song AND blasting stronger ignoring beeping sounds of warning.
Like it's as if whoever is playing those horns is trying their absolute hardest to make you ignore literal world falling apart around you and keep your focus on their composition, on their last breath.
Same last cry of humanity plays after piano section and it hits just so much harder after piano made you believe that world have gone only to pull you out again and give you last kick on the butt as you watch stars collide and world end in beautiful, momentary flash as song suddenly cuts into nothingness.
It's really just something cool about the way those moments go.

Something I really like about Everhood is the progression in music complexity as you play longer and further. Some of the best tracks (IMO) are right at the end of the game or hidden in secret paths, and it feels like it's a thankful gift, for enduring and persevering. Like the more you play, the more the game wants to be played, and the more it rewards you for doing so, you know what I mean? The second part of the incinerator, the Developers song, the Cat God song, and of course the final story songs like the sun song, Reconciliation and Euthanasia Rollercoaster... and I'd keep naming more but then this comment would get too big hahah

This is the song thay plays in-game when you finally destroy the entirety of the Universe, the ultimate mercy kill of all that ever was.
I wish for this to play when the actual end comes. What a banger to go out with.

Euthanasia Rollercoaster is a legitimate masterpiece. It's just what it says on the tin. It's a journey through the human lifecycle, from birth to death. And you didn't even get to death in the song! 😅

(mild spoiler warning) The title of the song is very fitting to how this plays out in-game and the overall vibe of how the music progresses. Euthanasia is a drug administered to "mercy kill". The whole song and the fight is the culmination of you killing everything out of mercy--even the universe itself. But it isn't just a kind of quick and peaceful fade away into nothingness, it's a rollercoaster of emotion as the story reaches its main climax. As the song begins, things start out very peaceful and cheery, then progress into a sort of nostalgic point, then you have the point where it slows down--a sort of self reflection period--when it then speeds back up and reality then slowly falls apart. It's as if you're actually fading away from euthanasia, but all of the excitement, nostalgia, reflection, and emotion hits you as your life flashes before your eyes before you're on the way out. Definitely a powerful piece and one where, without context I definitely feel some of the message is lost, but after experiencing it firsthand in the game, it is one I have found myself going back to and listening listen to over and over to relive that moment.

Hello there, i've seen that you enjoyed listening to the calamity mod osts, and so i got something that's from a different producer, but its linked to calamity lore-wise, even tho its fan-made, the quality is awesome, its about a song called "Twisted Garden" which is a theme for a deity from the mod, it's super well made and i think you could give it a try when you feel curious about it!

Maybe not the right place, but I’d love for you to play omori. The soundtracks themselves aren’t spectacular other than being overall good, but through context and the way it uses music as the leitmotif throughout so much of the game to make it so emotionally impactful, and how in some soundtracks it intentionally makes it very unnerving is really impactful to me. And I’d love to see you react to it with the context in the game!
(And of course, a couple of necessary battle bangers)
