As a local and flight enthusiast I’ve been so excited that Hal got their first one
Great review. HA could position themselves as a hub for Aus /NZ flights to secondary US cities avoiding the dreaded LAX transit. This plane really elevates their service.
Congrats, thanks for the video, looking forward to flying it and reviewing it next month myself!
Always enjoy and love your videos, but especially your commentary. Thanks P.S. from a fellow SF Bay-er. :)
Awesome video, don’t let the haters get you down! Love the content, subscribed!
Thanks man! I appreciate it!
Good morning Patrick!
Good video to wake up too this Tuesday morning.
Great review. i was also on this flight in extra comfort and was really comfortable.
Oooo I've been waiting for this one! Yaaaaaaaas!
Great video! I can't wait to fly it next week :)
Awesome! Safe travels bro!
Love the video!
Great video Patrick! What an EXCELLENT VIDEO! Definitely a step in the right direction for international Business Class or as it was sold domestically as First Class! Also I love seeing 1-2-1 seating on Hawaiian 🌺 Airlines finally! Also a B787 is always a treat and the Hawaiian 787-9 has my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE livery of any US carrier right now and maybe of any 787 anywhere worldwide! That’s saying a lot as I’m quite a livery snob! 🤣
Cheers 🥂 my friend
A friend of mine sent me this video of yours and I loved it so thanks! 🙏
Awesome! I’m so glad you liked it! Hawaiian’s 787 is totally beautiful and the inside is even better! I’m super excited for this chapter of Hawaiian Airlines!
Way to put this out with the quickness! Dope product.
Thanks!
Great review Patrick! Roll on the London service, and I will be on it, in Business Class for sure x❤
I just hope it actually ends up happening!
Great video dude 😊
Thanks!
Looks really nice.
That economy cabin looks AMAZING!!
Agreed! Much better than the current A330 offering
A330 economy seats are 2.2 inches wider
love flying with you greetings from the netherlands
That was quick work posting this presentation. I actually saw that plane take off about ten hours ago. Somewhat rare takeoff from Runway 26R. Kona winds today.
Great video!
Thanks! The 26R departure is always fun, bummed not to have the window seat for it though! Oh well… maybe next time
beautiful!
Finally a video were Paddy gets lei’d! Love your work ❤
Ha! Thanks!
Amazing Video! Hawaiian Airlines can really improve themselves with these new aircraft!
Amazing livery
Totally agree! Excited to see where they go with this new fleet addition
Life long Kamaaina here can't remember the last time take off wasn't from the reef runway
Totally rare 26R departure… made me miss a window seat for sure!
I remember when Hawaiian Airlines had a few L1011s servicing between California and Hawaii. Yes I’m that old. I loved the L1011 Tristar Jets that were used by Delta Airlines.
What a great 1st class product! Thanks for the info + video!
Thanks!
You spoke of the new wing of the HNL: airport as a renovation, which is not actually correct. There was a one story building there but it was completely torn down and this new wing built there.
Nice job !! Nice business class cabin
Thanks! It’s a great looking cabin!
🤩 Wow you're fast! The first review I've seen of this!
Nice job! I have BOS-HNL booked for January 2025, but it's on the A330. Hoping that route eventually gets the 787. I also came to compliment your choice of entertainment. I just saw that same episode of Young Sheldon this week!
That should be a fun flight with an actual set of bedding! Always a shot it gets the 787 if enough are delivered by then. Safe travels! (And long live young Sheldon)
Flew from HNL to SFO yesterday on the new 787. Nice flight. People couldn't figure out the window shades and most were left open. Need to give it some time.
Interesting. The 787 has been around for a while. I guess I figure most people would have come across them at this point with the amount of domestic flights they’re used in
I like the all-black New Zealand 787 best & also Air Canada 787 livery.
Terrific flight review Patrick.Nice new plane type for the airline.
Thanks!
Patrick's always the man 😁. Another great video.
Thanks man!
The last airline I can say I truly enjoyed was TWA (their L1011 Tristar wide-bodies in particular (yes I'm that old! Haha), but loved the Hawaiian experience a couple years ago. Wonderful flight attendants!
This particular Boeing jet is sleek and gorgeous!
Dang! What a story (and chapter in aviation)!
I would of bet $$$ you’d be on this flight! I almost booked it to do the inaugural with you.
Man thats a nice looking cabin. I hope they bring these birds to longer routes
Sounds like Japan and Australia at least! Still hoping the London route ends up working out for them
One of my old friends is an HA 330 captain. And yes, he has flown us from HNL to New York! But I think HAL will be using the 787 on the route and, since he plans to remain on the 330, we won’t see him much anymore. 😢
I haven’t been to Hawaii in five years, so I wasn’t even aware of the airport renovation. Yes, the outdoor portion was great on a sunny day. But if it was raining, the whole terminal became so dreary.
Brooo you’re the man 🤙🏽🔥
You actually came thru when I suggested it that you do this inaugural flight. 10000+ likes right here 🤌🏽
Thanks homie! This one was fun!
Looking great, what is the next flight review?
I guess you’ll have to wait for Sunday to find out 🤫🤫
What timing. Im wearing my HArd Rock Cafe Honolulu shirt today, lol. That new biz class can't come soon enough. People need to be separated. Last OCT, I did HA from HND-HNL on the A330, and guy seated next to me had that dirty, untidy room smell about him.
I think your 'Homies"did A good job as did you. I like how you included the history lesson. Beautiful interior. I watched it l take off on Reverse Ops and land on Cali planes
Thanks! Always appreciate the help of strangers. Bummed not to have a window seat for reverse ops though
I think that the planes with the flowers and lady on the Tail section need to have the leaves painted green to fulfill the total Design. draw one out to see how cool that would be.
As someone with lots of Alaska / OneWorld miles, I look forward to using them with HA!
That will be a great use of points!
Hawaiian’s got the best 787 livery
It is definitely gorgeous
The 330 are going to be freighter for Amazon =D
I am going on 787 on Friday out of Phoenix.
1st world problem: I always find that when Airlines create a cubby for storage and a place to hang your headphones, they tend to be very inconvenient, provided the wires for headphones can get tangled up, given that the headphone jack is placed somewhere random. However, HA seems to have heard my criticism and placed the headphone jack in the cubby, so storing your headphones and all the wiring is super easy. Well done!
I do like the location of the plug, but I couldn’t find a way to shut the cubby door without jamming the cable in it
Great video! Fairly quiet plane which is nice. Food looked decent.
Nice to get the history of the airline as well as potential growth.
Thanks! Glad you liked it! It’s definitely a great product
Looks like your taxi footage is from a Hawaiian A330?
I saw this plane do test flights out of San Francisco International Airport.
I saw this plane flying over my school
I like Air Tanzania's 788's. Sky blue lettering and the giraffe on the tail.
I'm glad to see HA improved its first class product to make it once again superior to any domestic first class in the US.
I’ve got that Air Tanzania 788 booked for this year. Those are some great looking planes!
Good morning from Papua New Guinea.
Great review on HA's new 787! Like you said, HA used to have flights to Manila, but "high fuel prices and low fares" were the reasons behind the abrupt end of that service. With the incoming 787s and the merger with Alaska Airlines, I hope the management would consider bringing back MNL-HNL flights in the future, as only Philippine Airlines serves non-stop flights to Honolulu from Manila.
Anyway, I already flew Hawaiian 4 times, all of them from Honolulu to Kahului, Maui and back, and all of them are in 717s. Those were a unique experience back then, and I'm glad I've flown that narrow-body aircraft type before it's eventually be phased out.
Definitely would make sense for the Manila route. Just has to compete with Philippine Airlines which definitely has cheap fares although in my opinion, Hawaiian offers a better product
Love your channel man makes me want to travel every time. Sometime soon to Honolulu from Sydney - on Hawaiian maybe?!
Heck yea! That would be a fun trip!
I like the Kenya airways 787-8
Qsuite still has the best door of any airlines. I changed into PJ without going to the washroom😂😂
lol… I guess we could say that that’s one of the benefits of the high walls
That is not the "renovated" part of the terminal, it is the NEW part of the terminal. I am excited to try the HA 787, my local airline and my favorite plane. BTW, check out Japan Airlines 787 economy seating, 2-4-2, incredible!
Thanks for the correction. Still looks nice! That JAL 2-4-2 seating sounds great!
Great Video.. and Channel I Subscribe Aloha 🤙🏾🤙🏾
Thanks! Welcome!
@@PatrickSheaAviation Aloha 🤙🏾🤙🏾
Fly Hawaiian quite a bit, and I was sad when this was delayed. Just need to know when it will hit the Tokyo-Honolulu route.
Sounds like it’ll live on the Tokyo route soon
@@PatrickSheaAviation great to hear, I'm looking forward to flying it as soon as I can.
Great vid, glad I could photobomb it at 3:15
But seriously, I'm gonna have nightmares about those turbulences. Thanks for coming out to the Islands 🤙🏽
Ha! Great seeing everyone out there for the party!
No doubt about it, the HAL livery was meant to be on the 787! But my personal favorite would be Vietnam Airlines' livery.
Totally love it on the 787s. I gotta say that Vietnam’s livery looks better on the A350 in my opinion at least though 🤷♂️
@@PatrickSheaAviation Fair enough man, they both look great!
That's a rare 26R take off out of HNL. Great video as always my dude!
Totally! I just wish I was in the right seat to video it myself!
Personally I really like the new United livery on the 787s. The second would be Korean air 787 livery.
Did anyone notice the truck driving backwards 9:26 😂
Just flew from Inchon to Honolulu on HA, the outdated seats and configuration was painful. But, not as painful as the attitude from half of the flight attendants. They should go through training with Asiana, they are sweet and beautiful not old and bitter.
That kinda sucks! The seats on those older aircraft could definitely use an update. Maybe I’m just lucky, but I’ve had great crews over time with them
I just flew round trip to Maui…..talked to a very senior, very good steward . He told me the first class area is tight and difficult for flight attendants. Also mentioned they have very little garbage space , so they have to put garbage on carts and move it to some area in the economy section. Looks very nice but was not set up well for flight attendants. Also, this was built at the scab plant in S Carolina. I have heard of way too many issues coming out of there.
Interesting info…
Mahalo nui loa for a very good video. Helpful history and current information. I really hope Hawaiian Airlines / Alaska succeeds and is able to expand direct flights to more countries. I hope to fly on one of these 787s before I die. And, hope that whatever possible manufacturing shortcuts Boeing may have taken are discovered and resolved ASAP. I fly from OGG to SFO regularly and whenever possible choose Hawaiian. United seems to use their oldest planes for Hawaii; I guess United figures people will put up with that because they're going to Hawai'i. Am flying American to PHX next week only because Hawaiian doesn't have a nonstop from OGG to PHX. I am hoping for the best but am prepared to be underwhelmed by American Airlines.
It sounds like Japan will see this aircraft the most. Then LA or SF, and lastly would be if they launched the London service they’ve been talking about. United, I do know, is updating the Hawaii fleet as well. Safe travels!
10:55 is anyone gonna talk about that TransAir 737-200🗿
great review - with the merger with Alaska Airlines - will the airline join Oneworld alliance ?
Great question. We don’t know the details just yet, but it sounds like Alaska would be the parent company that owned everything, so I’d think so
Thank you for sharing a very nice flight!!! Looking very nice. I agree with you about the lounge area lacking food to eat.😊 But that celebration service at the gate there looked nice. Well, you seat here looked very nice. And agree with you about that seat door!!! It does not close completely. Hmmm!!😊 And yes, like you I would like the window in general!😊
Thanks! Always fun to be a part of the party!
Hahaha! ☺ You are welcome. Fly safe in your incoming trips. ☺
I Like The Livery.Great Video And Info
Thanks!
9.862 👍
$430 for this seat?! That's amazing
Totally! As long as you stay flexible with dates, you can get super cheap flights between mainland and Hawaii. Under $1k for business class consistently
I first visited Hawaii back in April 2016. I wanna go visit there again.
Starlink is available on all 321s now. The 330s will start receiving them soon. The first two 787s don't have starlink yet, but Boeing is is working with starlink to have the remaining 10 planes delivered with starlink. Then the first two will be retrofitted.
Thanks! Great info
I was just looking for this info as I am flying on the A321 next month and wondered if it would have wifi. Can you tell me where you found that information? Thanks!!
@@dst6517 i have friends that fly for Hawaiian who are pilots and flight attendants.
weird that they didn't take off from the Reef Runway.
Totally! Made me miss a window seat for sure!
Was their Wi-Fi on your flight??
Nah it’s not available yet on these aircraft
Good review but bummer you did not comment on the food on how it tasted or show close up of the menu, Other than that good review
Thanks. The food on these US flights never blows you away, but the local island influence definitely makes it better than the other US carriers at least
You gave to the word crafty a new definition with the footage of an SAS, 737? 😅
Ha! You have to be a little crafty when you don’t get a window seat
I'm hoping the government blocks the merger to be honest. Market consolidation always increases fare prices as competition decreases and the Jetblue/Spirit merger was blocked recently
Yea, it’ll be interesting to see. Although the merger would largely put pressure on AA/UA/DL and hopefully force those prices down
👍👍👍✈️✈️✈️🤙🤙🤙
Runway 26R? That’s unusual!
I know! I love it. Just wish I was in a better spot to video it myself
I always feel that Honolulu has the potential to become next Dubai on the Pacific. It’s just with infrastructure renewal you always can’t expect too much from the government 😅
lol I’m sure if you told a native Hawaiian that, they’d have an aneurysm 😂 it definitely has potential to grow, but they don’t want to make it crazy populous. They try their best at leadt
@@PatrickSheaAviation That also explains why HI is one of the only two states with a total ban on gambling… I thought it would really attract Asian tourists/passengers traveling to Latin America (and vice versa) if there were a casino in HNL while it serves as the connection point 😂
Fabulous Looking Plane. With That Merger Will They Still Keep There Name?? Thanks As Always. Great Work.
As I understand it, even though Hawaiian is merging with Alaska, it's on a corporate level only, so that each brand will operate separately within the single unified company.
You also probably met Sam Shui there 😅
I wish. Don’t think he was here for this one however
@@PatrickSheaAviation oh alright I saw his post on Facebook and thought it was the same one, anyways I'm glad I took a closer look on that cabin in this video thank you for the details as always, the best 😊💪🏻🤳🏻🛬
I doubt they do any flights to London
I guess we will have to see. It’s been in their intentions since they chose this aircraft
Patrick is spotted multiple times in this other video: ruclips.net/video/I-qrgtuW56k/видео.html
Thanks Patrick, a far cry from when I travelled HNL-> AKL in 1981 with Continental. Would it have been a DC10 back then ??
Definitely a fun and different chapter in Hawaii aviation history
Nice review.
Why are some of your runway footage running backwards? Just trying to understand the aesthetic/artistic choice behind it.
Nah not exactly *artistic*… more so that I had to use footage from my arrival that morning or from one of the window seat passengers that lended me footage. Some stuff had to be adjusted just to make it fit in better
What is wrong with US lounges not having food???
Idk about others but this is the only lounge I’ve used in the US that didn’t have food. The rest at least have snacks
Great review, thanks. I hope the things that make Hawaiian special are not squandered by it being acquired by Alaska Airlines.✈
You got the discussion about the economy seats completely wrong. There is nothing luxurious about a 3-3-3 layout on a 787, it is standard and VERY tight at 17-inch seat width. The REAL generous layout on a 787 is 2-4-2 like on Japan Airlines. And, BTW, absolutely NOBODY does 3-4-3 on a 787, it is physically impossible. The Air India aircraft you are referring to is a 777 (not 787). On a 777 3-4-3 is now the standard (and extremely uncomfortable) layout, but Air India kept the older (and more generous) 3-3-3 layout on its 777s with 18-19 inch seat width. It is foolish and misguided to compare a 3-3-3 on a 777 with a 3-3-3 on the MUCH narrower 787.
This comment really helps the case that airlines have pursued profits over comfort.
@@jedwilson95 totally! Boeing always intended for the 777 to be 3-3-3 and the 787 to be 2-4-2, but most airlines chose a tighter layout to maximize their profits (even though they already save so much $$$ due to the 787's fuel-efficiency).
What are your thoughts re: 3×3×3 layout on the A350?
JAL has also kept 3-3-3 in Y on their 777-300ERs.
@@tally1604 because the A350 has a wider cabin than the 787, it allows for the seats to be wider even in a 3-3-3 configuration.
787-9 vietnam airplane ✈️
'and they lei-d each of us' #awkward but funny and yes there will be detractors on your 3-3-3 comment on economy but i always tend to 'lei' my bets on your POV so, agree; brand new cabin looks stunning, you could've prolly hung the lei on the door to hide that ga-- meh. SFO landing was a veritable twilight zone moment. hope you get some rest, mon ami (you sound a tad tired)
Aloha Hawaiian Airlines is Alaska Air going to buy you?
Ha! Soon… soon
How many B787s will Hawaiian Airlines be taking delivery?
I believe the order includes 12
Damn that was quite the speedrun bruh….
@11:03 so we're just gonna casually ignore that 737 200.... 😢 not blaming u just shocked the comments aren't all over it, Hawaiians dreamlike are brilliant, air tahiti nui wins the livery compition in my book cause we'll the entire airplane is awash with vibrant blues.. but Hawaiians sure come in second with the cleanest and most elegant livery I've ever seen. The blue soft undertones on the seats and cabin along with the flowers make this a very very special airplane. Can't wait to fly one!
Great review Patrick -I’m not impressed with the food offering - what’s with US carriers calling business class cabins first class , it’s always mystifying and that HA food was on par with most other carriers premium economy- I guess they can extract more money (if anyone is actually parting with coin) for this
3:04, Hainan, Xiamen air in the United dream livery, ANA in the special livery, Air New Zealand in the all blacks livery, KLM, Virgin Atlantic and Air Tahiti Nui, my favorite Boeing 787 livery with special livery, it looks nice and cool.
