Paul was my first entree back into audio. I even visited PS Audio when i had business in Colorado. They were nice and accepting even though I showed up unannounced. I even got to sit in their listening and hear some great sounds. I appreciate all you do. I hope to save my nickels someday for a BHK based system someday
It's why I love this channel so much. While gracious and hospitable, Adrian, you don't hold back and consistently ask the tough questions and questions I myself would ask - without hesitation. The same can be said for Paul, at PS Audio. Cordial, genial and sincere, Paul never made an effort to dodge or ovoid your questions concerning Garth (at AudioQuest) and the potential weaknesses of the Power Regeneration design. He handed the questions directly, honestly and without becoming detrimental, attacking or negative. You both are a class act. Outstanding interview Adrian.
I was having great difficulties with my set up and I purchased the book and video. Within half an hour of trying Paul’s set up everything changed. Now I’m up until 3 am most nights and regretting it the next day… the music sounds so good. I’m still tweaking it, but it’s absolutely wonderful. Thanks Paul.
Adrian I really enjoy these conversations with people in the industry, and I particularly like the conversations you have with Vilip about the Toronto scene and the changes over the years of the retail landscape and the gear itself
Great interview Adrian. For me on a tiny island in the Indian Ocean I am reliant on these videos to help my decision making and understanding of Hi Fi 🙏 Paul is pure gold.
2 of my favorite audio channels are yours and Pauls from PS audio. I have been out of the hobby and am getting back in. It is a different world . Not as many audio stores, so much information online. Far gone are the days waiting for the monthly publications to see what was reviewed. I must say because of you guys and people like Paul it is better then waiting for those publications. Great interview! Enjoyed every minute. Please keep up the great work because I learn everyday from folks like you and Paul. Thanks again and have a great day!!
The title made me smile. You two are my favorite Hifi youtubers. So, putting you on the same show is just so nice. I stopped everything i was doing to watch. Kind. Funny. Educational. This is so great to see.
I have always enjoyed your videos. This is no exception,Paul,is more than gracious when it comes to sharing his knowledge. He does not dodge the tough questions ,either. Doc BC
Hi Adrian & Paul : Both of you brought me down memory lane from 1962 when I was only 16 years old and got hooked on hi-fi and records (7in./10in./12in.). Quite a number of brand names mentioned by you are no longer in existence such as Sumo, Bedini, Counterpoint, etc. PS Audio was then the most educational then with their simple passive preamps, active preamps with a bigger power supply for better performance. I had to record down on paper a color-coding chart to instantly recognise the value of resistors supplied to match impedance of phono cartridges just in case I got the value wrong. I could not remember how many hundreds of phono plugs I had used and wasted while making interconnects by braiding all kinds of wires I could lay my hands on. My most unforgettable phono box was the PS IIb and passive preamp PS IVa partnering the AEA pre-preamp driving the Magneplanar MG II with a Phase Linear 400 poweramp (with meters) playing records up to the early 1990s. The turntable used then was a modified Thorens TD 150 with Magnepan Unitrac uni-pivot arm and Supex/Ortofon MC 20/30 cartridges which partnered well with the AEA pre-preamp that provided varying gains to match the preamp section in order not to overload the poweramp and speakers. This video brought back fond memories. Thank You Adrian & Paul !!! Regards to Both !!!
"Music is God" as one music 'priest' :) in my home country says. I am a music lover of 30 years and only just building my first speaker system (thank god for headphones all these years!) now that I can afford some starter-fi stuff. I watched a bunch of your videos with Vilip and Jay over the past month or so and it's a great pleasure to hear you just chat away talking about your musical experiences and also showing each other respect for different tastes for "color" and it all. I'm turning into an audiophile-phile haha. Yesterday saw Thomas' video from 3 years ago talking about how he gets tears listening to his friends' high end system. And now this video today talking about the same thing, or same God if you will. Thanks again for sharing these stories, especially at these crazy times. I'd be more than happy to pay for shipping to Australia and learn to get some of these experiences. And promise pay it forward and buy $1000 of gear in my local hifi shop if the luck lands on me. (Will spam email a copy of receipt :)
The room... Like the holes in a flute, the relationship between the speakers and the room is a harmonic formula. The speakers, the room, and your ear ducts are one system.
Outstanding !! So informative, educational and entertaining ! Well done Adrian ! Can't wait for the US/Canada border to open up so I can finally visit y'all in Markham (and get some outstanding local Chinese cuisine!) .. PS. Rumor has it that Vilip is your son ? YIKES !
Great video. Paul's book is entry-level though. I enjoyed playing around with the SACD. I lent it to a friend and ordered Harley's Guide. Even that has left me wanting so I might go for Toole's Sound Reproduction.
Adrian is becoming like the Anderson Cooper of the audio industry with these terrific in depth interviews. I love PS Audio. Their products are high end and perform at the high end and come with great support. I have two PowerPlants that are the hearts of my two systems. I believe a system is only as good as it’s weakest links and it’s foundation. The foundation for any audio or video system is power. PowerPlants provide that clean dynamic power that you need. My P20 powers to of the biggest Canadian monoblocks to drive my Maggie 1.7is. Interestingly, PS Audio is selling Audioquest cables. So these two industry stalwarts are working together. I got my AQ Diamond USB and Ethernet cables from my PS Audio rep. Now I feel like I need to play with the positioning of my speakers! (Please pick me! Thanks!)
I enjoyed the Interview with Paul McGowan who came across as a normal elderly wise guy with his engaging story telling on what he had seen and experienced in his life. Adrian, it was nothing when addressed as “Uncle”. I am 61 years old and my hair is as silvery white as Paul. When I was 58 or 59 and travelling alone in China visiting Zhangye National Geopark (The Rainbow Mountain). I was addressed as “老爷爷” (Old Granddad) by a young mother when referring me to her daughter aged below 10. I was fuming mad inside but still had to maintain a smiling face. Apparently, in China, it is a sign of respect when addressing elderly person as such but that is a phrase that I am willing to live without. Thank you.
Awesome video was waiting to hear this. Building my new speakers (gr research nx otica) and finishing my new music room all myself. Would love the CD and book to get my new speakers in my new dedicated room just right! :)
Definitely 2 of my favorite channels. Never missed any episodes from both. Though I may not be able to afford the PS Audio gear I'd seriously like to own, I do appreciate the daily videos and I do each and every one of them. The Audio Exellence Channel is also one I never miss every time a video goes up. I just love how the discussions go. Then again, I'd never really be able to afford most of the gear you guys discuss but I love your videos. Heck, I follow you on CAM, just in case something used that is within my budget is affordable. Cheers from Calgary! . Loved this video.
Very entertaining and interesting interview. For the first time I heard about the Jennifer Warnes song. Indeed great imaging there. For people who are interested, try Sketches of Spain by The Nits. Excellent imaging in this song. Like to hear your thoughts.
Really enjoyed this video, love learning about the history of high end audio and its evolution. Paul is a great guy and a great contributor to this hobby we all love, Thanks Paul and thank you Adrian and crew for making these videos. Excellent job and looking forward to the next one! 👍
It’s awesome to see two of my favorite people having a casual chat. I bought my PS audio gear from audio excellence and now I have the guy that designed it chatting together with you. Awesome 👍🏻
Great interview as usual, I like the idea of setting up your speakers with his cd. Really enjoyed the memory lane of going back to heydays of audiophile to get to where we are today.
Two of the best audio youtube personalities in one video! What more can you ask for? But you guys kind of tip toed around the direct selling vs dealer model and hopefully can address that next time 😊
What a treat ! Two amazing and very knowledgeable people sharing views . I am a great fan of Paul . I listen to him more than my wife nowadays. Adrian he I had tons of real world experience to understand taste and provide solutions. Thank you for this interview
Starting t @31:00 EEAS has improved drastically since Paul McGowan heard it. What changed? What made it better? What was the magic bullet? The equipment is exactly the same except for two under $100 Radio Shack DJ mixers used for increased gain for a $20 Bluetooth receiver and the phono input in one of them. The change happened because of re-tuning its many controls, discovery of one or two circuit interconnect errors, and learning how to better use its controls for improved performance for each recording. It is now the most convincing sound possible from a recording, utterly convincing. It is based on entirely different principles than audiophile systems are based on. Most of the audiophile system based concepts were discarded as superfluous or just plain wrong. The rest of the equipment that is all still the same is perfectly adequate for its function. Better equipment as audiophiles view it would make no difference, in fact it could only make it worse. The system can shape sound fields to be anything I want them to be and in ways audiophile systems can't such as in time and space. It is based on a mathematical model of sound fields I invented 50 years ago. This model understands the properties of sound fields with exact precision and how to engineer them. This is NOT a simple problem. By comparison the best audiophiles are primitive, crude, and based on naive concepts that just don't work. I'm not an audiophile, I'm a scientist and an engineer. I haven't paid my dues in decades but I was and could reactivate my membership in the American Institute of Physics and the Acoustic Society of America, a scientific organization. I'm also a music lover who wants "concert hall realism." And I know how to get it.
so funny---paul himself said a long time ago the front panel meters were merely eye candy. Now all of a sudden it was an invention to poopoo grey. whatever.
G'day from Australia it's Shane here. Great chat with Paul Adrian I obviously subscribe to both of you guys and look forward to every instalment. Paul is quite the entertainer and most of us will never accumulate the knowledge that that man has already forgotten. I write this in support of your great video channel Adrian with audio excellence, not to try and score a free copy of Paul's book and sacd. Reason being I already have both. Keep up the great work love your channel. 😁👍🎧
Thank you for this informative interview. Watching Paul squirming a couple of times proved that this wasn't powder puff interview. Great Job to both gentlemen. Love it when Paul goes unscripted.
The current state of the Genesis company is very odd to me. It seems they are chugging along ok, even improving designs slightly, yet not much hubbub around them. Are they simply just a limited production volume/ word of mouth type of affair now?
Paul is an active 73 living in Colorado - the high Country, pure mountain air and doing diddly shiiit (his own words) still working on his HiFi dreams. Where has the time gone Adrian since your first Close Encounter of the Third Kind from 40 years ago? Adrian, I admired your intro of Paul and AATB!
Heh, That’s one of the worst measuring DACs ever seen at ASR site. They called it a distortion generator. PSAudio provides zero evidence their products are up to scratch. ASR shows you what is and what isn’t worth buying, objectively. If you follow Paul’s handwaiving nonsense, you get what you deserve.

Greetings from Brazil and thanks for sharing this excellent and "long term acquaintance" interview.
Best Regards
Great interview Adrian. For me on a tiny island in the Indian Ocean I am reliant on these videos to help my decision making and understanding of Hi Fi 🙏 Paul is pure gold.
Your kindness and generosity would lend great hands for others that are less fortunate. Thank You!

Two of the good guys in Audio chatting, worth the time, thanks Adrian. I already own the Book and SACD it's a worthy product.

PS : I also experimented with many potentiometers of varying values, including one volume pot that went round not once but 10 times.

Terrific interview with Paul, thoroughly enjoyed it.

Excellent interview. Very entertaining and informative as well. I always learn a lot when Paul shares his insights and knowledge.
Cheers.
A nice and old school talk.
This is an awesome interview with a gifted engineer and inventor. Your bonus footage at the end cracked me up! Thanks for the info and the laughs!
Awesome video was waiting to hear this. Building my new speakers (gr research nx otica) and finishing my new music room all myself. Would love the CD and book to get my new speakers in my new dedicated room just right! :)
Great informative discussions. Happy's Father Day to all the DADs
Great interview. Keep up the good work.
Adrian, Jay sent me here to get the freebies:) Lol! Always enjoy your videos, keep up the good work!

I love the idea of these test tracks but you guys have to acknowledge that David Chesky made CDs with these kinds of tracks on them, long ago.
Best two audio channels! I am still loving the Magnapan LRS speakers I purchased from Adrian. I am hoping to move up to PS Audio gear in the future!
Cheers Guys🙏🙏🙏 I’m learning.., my gear is getting better, and Wife’s foot is taping 🙏🙏🙏 from 🇳🇿
Very entertaining and interesting interview. For the first time I heard about the Jennifer Warnes song. Indeed great imaging there. For people who are interested, try Sketches of Spain by The Nits. Excellent imaging in this song. Like to hear your thoughts.
NIce talk. I bought Paul´s reference guide to set up my WA Sabrina´s X, I would rate it essential.
Just watched this great video. I've been too busy listening to my new Stellar phono preamp.
Really enjoyed this video, love learning about the history of high end audio and its evolution. Paul is a great guy and a great contributor to this hobby we all love, Thanks Paul and thank you Adrian and crew for making these videos. Excellent job and looking forward to the next one! 👍
I miss working at a high-end stereo store. Never got to sell any PSAudio but I did hear some.
I could totally use the set-up CD and book for my Magnapan LRS speakers!
It’s awesome to see two of my favorite people having a casual chat. I bought my PS audio gear from audio excellence and now I have the guy that designed it chatting together with you. Awesome 👍🏻
Love Paul's and your videos.
A very enjoyable, informative video. Thanks for putting it together and sharing it with us.
You are guys my favorite audio channel!!! Thank you for all you do for high end audio...Blessings

I enjoyed this conversation..
I totally remember the PS Audio Regenerator and plugging it into a Richard Gray thing, that was a big deal back then!
Great conversation. I love both of your channels.
Such a cool interview!!
Great interview as usual, I like the idea of setting up your speakers with his cd. Really enjoyed the memory lane of going back to heydays of audiophile to get to where we are today.
What a great interview with Paul, enjoyed it immensely.
I have the book and CD. It is really great and my system now is as good as it can be
One of the few hobbies I really enjoy and two of the better HiFi youtubers out there together! I gotta make it to a good Audio show someday!
Love Paul and educational video series and thks also to Audio Excellence for your educational videos
Thanks for video!!
Two of my favorite channels that I subscribe to… Great Conversation.
The soundtrack for this video is definitely "Giorgio by Moroder" by Daft Punk. Greetings from Good Old Europe. ;)
20K for new PS Audio speakers.... Guess I will hang onto my LRS for a while longer.
I HEAR that!
Oh I so much enjoyed this video, thanks guys.
Two of the best audio youtube personalities in one video! What more can you ask for? But you guys kind of tip toed around the direct selling vs dealer model and hopefully can address that next time 😊

Very nice video I love how Paul channels and your channel teaching as how to understand audio equipment
Thanks for that outstanding interview!
Great interview. Have been watching Paul on RUclips for quite some time now.
Oh Paul casting shade on Bryston.
We need more talks with the "old fellas" before they're gone. Can't talk to the big corps.
This channel is the best

Great Interview. Paul McGowan seems like a great person.
Valuable information(s), thank you both
I figured this would be a great chat👍
Great video interview
Met Paul and Terri at the last AXPONA. Great folks and can't wait to visit PS Audio in Boulder.
Paul you are a breath of fresh air !!!
Nice and informative interview
Great interview
Hey, Paul, nice to see you on other channels!
The current state of the Genesis company is very odd to me. It seems they are chugging along ok, even improving designs slightly, yet not much hubbub around them. Are they simply just a limited production volume/ word of mouth type of affair now?
Great video!
Always enjoy watching Paul..

Owner of Direct Stream DAC. Love it. The on!y DAC that makes me listen to digital with sense of emotions. Thank you Paul.

@@plcamp1 have you heard one? Or just following the blind….
Love watching guys who love there jobs. Goals. I got find a way to afford a whole PS AUDIO set up!
This is a problem low efficient speakers need lots of power where power conditioners have most effect
Paul is the best!
Paul never disapoints!
Adrian your lighting is off. Next time!
Such a great combination of two world!
Paul is funny, but he is 👑 KING
