There's a lot of backstory to Egotistic and a lot more to the MV than the sexiness that meets the eye on first view. I'll spare you a long essay but it's the 2nd title track in Mamamoo's year long series 4 Season 4 Color where they released one album per season starting in spring 2018. 4S4C is the most complex, ambitious project ever done by a girl group.
We see Hwasa as a gorgeous, mega-talented superstar but she gets a lot of hate in Korea (as does the whole group) and when she was auditioning to get into the industry she was sent packing and bluntly told she was fat and ugly. How she rose to success is another long story.
I hope you're right but I doubt the crap that tops the charts is going away anytime soon. I find most current kpop almost unlistenable, esp the most popular songs, but there are a number of fantastic Korean artists and it pays to keep looking and listening. In addition to Mamamoo as a group, solo or subunit some of my favorites are a bit under the radar outside of S Korea. Here are three in different styles: Yoon Mirae (hip hop/r&b), Lee Jinah (jazz/pop), Onewe (rock band).
