Prof. Layton, Zelda Phantom Hourglass, AC Wild World, COD4, Mario Hoops 3on3, Custom Robo Arena!
Fossil Fighters and Fossil Fighters Champions!
The DS is a JRPG machine which would be most of my recommendation, but if you want to get another puzzle style game, I highly recommend Meteos
I got my DS Lite in high school and it had me so engrossed unlike any other system up to that point. I played a ton of Game Boy and Game Boy Color games growing up, but I skipped out on the GBA due to some silly idea in my head that those games would not be as good as what I was playing. Thankfully, the GBA slot on my Lite enabled me to finally play awesome GBA games and realize that I had been a fool.
It also helped me rediscover my love of Pokémon with Diamond. I had played the hell out of Red and Silver and I got away from the series for a while during gen 3. I loved how I could use FireRed and transfer my Pokémon to Diamond rather than having to use a link cable. SoulSilver eventually came out and cemented itself as the greatest game in the series.
Mario Kart DS is my favorite of all of them, and I will never forget the fun I had playing online, even when I was being left in the dust by snakers. I loved how I could use the 8-bit Mega Man sprite for an emblem. Some of the best times I had with the game were when myself and three other guys in the morning/afternoon buses would do local play. I also have to mention that Contra 4 is possibly the best in its series too.
So glad you’re doing this, Bo! I actually did the same thing last year, filling out my DS library with previously unowned first-party Nintendo games and inexpensive third-party games that made interesting use of the system’s unique capabilities. I’ve heavily curated my library, which sits currently sits at 86 games, having owned and sold another 30 or so on top of that. Unfortunately, I have yet to get around to playing all of them. However, I’ll drop a few interesting suggestions down below (though it certainly won’t be an exhaustive list). I look forward to the inevitable collection video! By the way, congrats on snagging both Aliens: Infestation and Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective at the bins!

Nice pickups video and good luck in your finds. You will need it.
Your buying DS games meanwhile I'm trying to get 3Ds games!😅
Same even though I’m late on starting my collection lol (I lost mines a couple of years back and just found it in the end of 2022)
It's great that you guys are buying these games, makes it a lot easier for me to sell almost everything off. 🙃
My biggest DS recommendations are definitely the two Zelda games, Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks. I feel like they both definitely get overlooked by a lot of people, and they're both really fun!
Also, for Ghost Trick, I recommend the Switch version just for the remastered soundtrack, they nailed it
It hurts to hear that Pokemon, despite being your favorite franchise...you've seemingly not touched all these amazing spinoff games? Stuff like Explorers of Sky may just be up there with my all-time favorite games in the entire series! I went back to Conquest last year, thinking I'd have the same blast playing it as I did when I was younger...and then was saddened to realize it was way easier than child me thought it was, seeing as I managed to beat it in a bit over 7 hours. I...err...blame my previous knowledge on that one. 😅 But like...Pokemon is my favorite series partly BECAUSE of those excellent side games, man! And it sucks we hardly get them nowadays...and it sucks even more seeing GF become a realtime shitshow developer, too. :(
Sick AJJ hat hehe :) I collected a ton of these a while back-EBA is probably my #1 most nostalgic game, introduced me to rhythm games! Really hope you're able to enjoy it.
Unlike the 3ds cartridges, ds cartridges can keep your data inside of it. You can play with your 3ds without ever worry about cloud transfers because your data is stored inside of the chip.
This makes me happy since I do intend to grow my DS library as well.
Mine still works just as well as a ds.
3ds carts are the same
Actually, quite a bit of 3DS games save directly on cart as well. Some games don't, like Fantasy Life, but a lot do.
I miss this feature on Switch carts.
The pokemon white 2 copy I bought last month has the Pokedex complete and all the Pokemons dates are from 2012/2013 I feel starting my own file but I never played that game before.
Love the DS. Some hidden gems I know of that are fairly cheap, if you're interested: Henry Hatsworth, Cookie and Cream, Disney Friends, Insecticide, Galactic Taz Ball
Really nice DS collection, those visual novels are right up my alley, would love to get my hands on them one day as well!
ghost trick is awesome, the switch port is just the mobile version with a remastered soundtracks, but they’re all about the same
look into 999 and the world ends with you - those both got ports but you’ve gotta play those on the ds
999 is one of my favorite DS games! Played it back in 2016 or so - need to pick up a physical copy again after selling it
The DS is so sick, I personally felt like part of the charm was lost with the 3DS (even though it was also incredible)
If you like visual novels/puzzle games you should definitely check out the Professor Layton games (I think there’s like 4?) and also 999 is absolutely incredible and slept on.
Great video!
3DS is the better console by the fact that it can play all DS games as well.
Plus it has a circle pad.
You should check out Magician’s Quest: Mysterious Times on the DS. It’s basically a re-shin of Animal Crossing Wild World with magic elements. I just purchased it for my own collection recently
I love the DS and handheld gaming in general. That's probably why the Switch is my favorite console right now. Also you have a skill for talking and sharing info on camera. I'm still nervous to talk on camera after years, but then again I guess that's just social anxiety for ya. Keep up the great work dude!
This is completely off topic, but I want to know what your thoughts are on the videos that are popping up about all these Nintendo Switch games seemingly being taken off of retail stores.
I'm also buying a few DS games as well!
I love the DS! Lots of good games, really, including some DragonQuest games (DQ V is a $150+ game CIB...I was lucky and found one for $30 at Gamestop!), there's also Prof. Layton, Mario + Luigi games (lots of fun), Radiant Historia (find the soundtrack version if you can), and what's probably the definitive version of ChronoTrigger now.
Awesome video👍🏻👏🏼
To me, the three Castlevania games are hands down the best games on the platform. Highly recommend those if you’re willing to pony up the money.
Glad a hung on to my ds game’s really glad Touch Detective collection is coming out on the Switch soon ❤ still waiting on all the SMT ds games get re released as well and Izumi The Unemployed Ninja 😂
Hotel Dust was my fave game to play! I loved it. Both my husband and I had it and he enjoyed it too. You will definitely enjoy it.
They do have a part two but it’s not in this country and hard to get. I did try to use an emulator to pay it but it kept crashing.
The ds definitely has a great library. You should check out ninja garden dragon sword. It’s a pretty good unique ds game
I love my dsi! I did mod it cause I don’t have a lot of space and it is amazing!!
I started buying up ds games back in 2019 and 2020. My recommendations would be Monster Tale, Henry Hatsworth, Retro Game Challenge and Game Center CX 2. Both those last ones are getting a switch release, so that might be worth getting. Retro Game Challenge is the American version of Game Center CX that was released in Japan. The sequel never came to the US and that's a shame. Such a great game.
Those two were made by the folks who did Ultimate NES Remix, I believe. There is a 3rd game on 3ds, bit it was made by someone else and is considered not as good. Never played that one, so I can't comment about it.
A ds game I'm looking to pick up because I've heard good things, is Lost in Blue. It seems like a very ds Era game if you know what I mean
Of all of my console game collections, my Nintendo DS game collection is the biggest.
Explorers of sky was extremely fun I played it at the end of last year for the first time
Your in for some fun gaming most of the games you mentioned I own and really enjoy I actually have more cib DS games 168 than I do cib 3ds 151 both fantastic systems with lots of wonderful games. I like watching videos like this it reminds me of games I want to play again 😊
I really wish the DS and 3DS had really good 3D platformers. But hey, all the games you pointed out today looked pretty cool
Good video
Where should/can I buy complete DS games w cases?
ive been doing the samething but both ds and 3ds
Great time to buy them! They are still going for decent prices! And the ds line has amazing games!
DK Jungle Climber is the sequel to King of Swing, another REALLY underrated game for the gba imo, the music in both of those games is AMAZING, I’d really recommend you check out King of Swing if you end up enjoying Jungle Climber 🤙🏼
Hotel Dusk and Contact are some great (somewhat) hidden gems. It’s a massively underrated console in a lot of ways.
The d's is foster and if you mod u get to experience even more games that were fan translated or hacked like those fan made Pokemon ones
Check out Front Mission. I think it was the first time FM1 was released in the west. Plus beating the campaign unlocks another one.
Also consider Chrono Trigger and Wizard of Oz; Beyond the Yellow Brick Road.
Guilty pleasure; Call of Duty Black Ops. Surprisingly fun, zombie mode included.
The DS is great!! I just picked up Rythym Heaven, and I'm excited to try it out!
where are you buying them?
Nintendo peaked during the GBA and DS eras for me. I definitely took advantage of their catalogues at the time and bought pretty much everything I care to own back then, but I did go out of my way to fulfill past me's wish and buy Japanese versions of Pokemon Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, Black, and White this year along with a Japanese DSi LL.
Speaking of which, I find it funny that these kinds of things are so cheap both in Japan because they don't seem to care about collecting them in the same way, and in the West because not many people can understand Japanese versions of games. I would've assumed that these specific games would cost an arm and a leg simply by virtue of being mainline Pokemon, but they were dirt cheap and all complete with boxes and manuals. Both copies of Platinum I purchased ended up being first prints from the original manufacturing run and they were about $15 each, and yes they're legit. I even ended up buying a copy of Conquest while I was at it because it was the only spinoff I never physically owned and that was like $5. I can't wait to experience all of these games again in their original states.
If you haven't already, I would look into The World Ends With You. Personally, it is my favorite game of all time and couldn't recommend it more.
I would recommend Mario Party DS, Mario & Luigi Bowsers Inside Story and Mario & Luigi Partners in Time
I don't know what the current prices are for these so sorry in advance but here are some DS games that I recommend getting on your radar:
- Tokyo Beat Down
- Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles - Ring of Fates
- Steal Princess
- Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword
- Commando: Steel Disaster
- Away: Shuffle Dungeon
- Avalon Code
- Lunar Knights
- Thor (Yes, a licensed game)
- Viewtiful Joe: Double Trouble
- Scurge: Hive
- Monster Tale
- Barnyard Blast: Swine of the Night
- Ivy the Kiwi?
- C.O.P. The Recruit
I bought Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Sky digitally on the Wii U before the eShop closed. I was curious about it but also not interested enough in the series to drop $120+. I’ve played Mystery Dungeon games a few times but never got too far into them
This was me in 2021 -22. So fun to explore and play these again. But there is a ton of junk on DS that you gotta avoid.
The best games for the NDS in my book are Dual Strike, Days of Ruin, FE11 and FE12.
FE12 is a remake of FE3, with the remade Satellite chapters on the cart. It was never released outside of Japan due to lackluster domestic sales. Also it has has DSi enchancements, is region locking FE12 to JP systems, unless ya jailbreak your 3DS or DSi to play it. FE12 is more than a simple remake. It had all of the original FE3 Book 2 (FE3 actual) chapters, expanded story from a mass amount of the source content released up to 2010ish and a lot of new content that is related to Kris. It also had 3 side chapters to which the story took place between FE11 and FE12 to which is locked behind a server wall for anyone trying to access it now -_-
FE11 is the first full remake of any FE game. It is the best way to experience Marth's story from the beginning without all of the problems associated with the original first game of the entire franchise. But in order to 100% the game's unlockables, ya have to purposely kill off your army and keep it under 15 units at a time, until about chapter 21ish. The reason why FE1 was able to localized so easily is because of this remake. For all they had to do was take what they had already completed in translating FE11 and move all of that over to FE1.
Dual Strike is the third installment to the Advance Wars series for which continues the story a few months after the events of 2 had wrapped itself up. The game more or less utilizes as much of the NDS as it could up to that point in time. It has all of the COs from the first 2 games as well as a lot of new ones that are exclusive to Dual Strike itself.
Days of Ruin is its own standalone game within the Advance Wars series. It is the game that tried to innovate to make it stand out amongst the rest. But for it being so radically different than the GBA games and Dual Strike, it fell by the wayside in sales prompting Nintendo to not resume adding more installments for this series. Also, the game never got a JP physical release from what I recall. As well as two different English Localizations. One for North America and one for Europe. The best part about this game is that ya can replay previous missions without having to replay the entire game to that point to get the best score on that mission overall.
Most of all else released on the NDS was shovelware that even Office Depot at one point had NDS games on the shelves. NDS is still a great system, but it has its own shortfalls.
I have 250 ds games.I been collecting ds games from day one. Try out Henry hatsworth, super robot wars og saga. I am still finding good games for the ds like captain America, Thor, spider man shattered dimensions and Wolverine. Right now I am playing glory of Heracles and green lantern
I think the castlevania, and dragon quest games are among the best available on the ds. For me, I have thoroughly enjoyed collecting the DS. That library is DEEP. Oh, and games have manuals. Thor is way forward as well I believe. Really good.
then you clearly didn't play many games if you think those are the best games... I feel sorry for you
I primarily play rpgs.@@kacperzimowski4626
Bro I have been too lmfao I’m glad I ain’t the only one I bought Zelda and a crap load of others Mario Lego and Star Wars games pokemon I only have diamond as of now
I'm thinking about of buying more physical DS games that I've already owned for my 2DS
Speaking of golden sun the original 2 are gonna be on switch on the 17th!!!
You should look into getting fossil fighters and it's sequel. They are both excellent games.
Glad someone else has good taste in DS games! Very underrated.
I love Pokemon Ranger so much. I'm just sad that with the Switch, the way the touch screen is less precise (even with a stylus), it wouldn't ever really work. I always loved Shadows of Almia due to the main character's real progression in-universe. It's honestly my number 1 favorite Pokemon game, period. Even over the mainline games. And Guardian signs did the "elite four in any order" first! Before Black and White! I think it's so underrated and underappreciated.
Me who doesn't buy then but just uses my 10GB collection of ds games on my microsd card.
Im really tempted by aliens i love metroid and the alien films buts its 65 quid at my local shop? I just don't know if its worth it? I mean DS games are one of the few were emulator's dont really do the trick as a demo
Interesting ♨now 🙏🏼🖤
I collected this already and both Pokemon dsi
I’m trying to buy the mainline ds Pokémon games since I grew up with them but they’re so expensive 😂
he's just like me fr
Because its a dope a** system that I, as well have a list of games I need to get.
Time Hollow!
Get the Japanese version of elite beat agent. It has alot more and way better songs then the us version
I really wish they would make a remake of Pokemon rangers
In my head I always say your channel name as “Botox Games”.

In other words, you had some disposable income and Nintendo DS was selling near your home.
You made a logical choice.
R4 Card.
Coming from a kirby fan: kirby mass attack is not my favorite.
Nintendo DS is not favorite console ever
Zzz
Ds games are cheap pov pokemon games being 100s of dollars
botox games
Why? Content.
Oh, you can get rid of all that case residue with goo gone!
Botox Games 😂 Nice video, this encouraged me to top off my DS collection, realized I was missing the game Contact by Atlus!
