When i saw the title u thought it was just some high speed wobbles. But when i saw the damn wobbles i was like "damn those are some death wobbles alright."
Perfect example of why an r7 is the perfect bike power and weight class. Fast enough to say oh shit, not scary enough to make you shit. Fuck the freeways this is what riding is all about.
I would never ride without a good steering damper. My KTM RC8 would have killed me already. Your friend was exactly right about dealing with it in the moment, and needing a dampener.
I havent even gotten my license or first bike yet, but im 100% sure that i'll get frame sliders + steering dampener before i even take it out of the streets. Not that you need it 99% of the time, but for the 1%. Also, that sun is why i bought a helmet with integrated sun visor (in half-way position too so u can just lean your head forward to block it)
Glad ur good bro🙏My very first backroad scenery cruise I was at 80 mph basically where u were and I got the same thing as I was going through a tight corner I hit a couple big random bumps and it popped up and I let my hands go slight loose and as the tired landed back down the death wobbles hot so hard thankfully I kept grip but loosely and let the wheel do its thing then gained control and ouuuuu it was a lil lesson on being ready for stuff like that
There are many conflicting viewpoints on what to do, and it’s simple. Don’t death grip obviously, and if it’s severe wobbles, put some weight forward, let off completly, and apply footbrake while gently counteracting the forces of the wobble brings it back straight easily
I also got the death wobbles on the R7 at about 110mph cresting a hill. Gotta be careful when cresting hills. Get light on the bars and let it straighten itself out.
Dude if you get the wobbles, release the throttle apply some rear brake to slow speed and let the handlebars adjust. Don't speed up. That's why I had a big accident.
I dunno know man, from a lot of people i heard you should give it full power so the front wheel lifts up and calms down but only if you arent too fast and the bike can lift the wheel, if you are fast than release the handlebars and grip the bike with your knees letting it do what it needs to do to calm down.
@@nisbo4198 Unless you're really talented, no... Don't do that. Any loading or unloading of the front suspension will disrupt the oscillation causing the wobble. So what's better, as it's more controllable is to shift your weight forward by throwing yourself tightly over the tank, loosening your grip on the bars so you don't magnify the oscillations yourself, and rolling slowly off the throttle until the front wheel stabilizes. If you're going to crash, it's better to crash going slow. Ultimately, there's no easy hack to correcting your way out of 100% of death wobbles. Maintain your bike well, understand the way the road and inputs effect your suspension, and don't ride public roads at wreckless speeds and you'll avoid 95% of situations that'd start a death wobble. In this video for example, the dude upshifts and then slams the throttle open again right at the crest of a hill. That unloaded a lot of the weight from the front tire, and the tire lifted at the top of the hill and wasn't in alignment with the rear tire when it touched back down, initiating this wobble. The only reason this happened is because he ignored the road conditions or didn't understand bikes enough to be doing what he's doing. I'm glad he learned the lesson without hurting himself but guys, this is as perfect an example that exists to demonstrate the value of your information diet. Do not consume 100 of these videos to every 1 video you watch that's informational about bike physics, practice drills etc. I know twisty roads are fun. But they're also a graveyard for a lot of riders with more confidence than experience. Please, please, please do research into how bikes behave and practice so that in the case of a real emergency, the solution is muscle memory and you can get yourself the best outcome possible. Which may still be a crash, but a crash you walk away from is better than a crash you get driven away from.
I think every aspiring biker should start on a small dirtbike 125cc and get used to being out of control at low speed. Or at least some cheap little Honda 250. Learning on a fast bike right away seems like a death wish imo. I’m glad I crashed in dirt mud and grass learning to ride two wheels
Ive been waiting for Yamaha to drop a 700cc for fkn years and years!!! They really made this thing sound as limp as possible.. As though they were afraid to "offend" a safe spacer.. Either way Im still gonna consider buying one...
On a brand new bike like that how does that even happen? It must be a problem with your tire or front end. I don’t see how a bike could even be legal to release to the public if that’s just considered normal.

Thank god you're okay!! You should get a GPR damper cos you are starting to go fast :)
Not a bad idea at all :))
You don’t need a dampener you just need to keep your weight off the handlebars

@@08tundy kinda, there are other causes for death wobbles

Lost my licence riding that exact road. Ride safe.

Your commentary is legendary bro! I really enjoy watching your vids!
Appreciate this comment 😌
Big scare, and that sun is brutal. Luckily not had a tank slapper on my R7 yet.
Scary, glad you’re okay!
r7 inceleme çok efsane olur abi

@@firacingast Wow man thanks for the effort put into this comment. A lot of info.
You did a good job. It wasn't as bad as I thought.
Also want to lean over the gas tank more to help compress the front suspension.
Hey! May I feature this video in my new episode? Watermarked and linked to your channel of course.
Sure!
No way motostars
@@frissonyt Thanks!
Do you already have a vid detailing your POV camera setup? Love you're videos bro. Really quality content! Keep em' coming

Does the r7 come with a dampener ?
Nope 😵💫
i originally order the 60th addition r7 but ended up going for r1 didnt realise it had one till I got it
I almost died cause of a downhill death wobble, I just let go of the throttle and relaxed and that saved me
Thanks for this comment, hopefully these stories help other riders avoid this situation.
Ain’t you got a stabiliser it 700 would recommend not worth the death wobbles 50 to 200 £ or dollars
Like horor movie cam
