Which team (if any) could pull this off? Will Utah or Arizona win it as newbies? How will Colorado fit in? Will Iowa State rebound? What about mainstays like Kansas State, Oklahoma State, or TCU? Kstate makes the playoff and wins it’s first round game this year, but unfortunately Josh is probably right about it being very unlikely a B12 team wins it all in the near future. However, if a B12 team is overlooked and stays healthy, it is possible. TCU ran into UGA, but if OSU had beat UGA, TCU’s odds would have been much better. So, I do believe it’s possible, but it is possible.

    The Big 12 teams will be underdogs against the real heavyweights of college football. I personally would love it if Utah, say, won a quarterfinal at home against Ohio State and then took down LSU in the semis and Georgia in the national title game. It would be like when the wild-card New York Giants in 2007 took out (in order) Dallas, Green Bay and then an 18-0 New England to win the Super Bowl.

    I'm not going to hold my breath waiting for the Big 12 to win a "natty."
    In 2013, Bud Elliott, a national recruiting analyst at 247Sports, created the blue-chip ratio. A college football team’s blue-chip ratio is the percent of four- and five-star prospects (scholarship players only) on its current roster. Elliott surmised that a team had to have a blue-chip ratio over fifty percent to have enough talent to win a national championship. No team without a Blue-Chip roster has won a national championship in the last twenty-five years.
    The sixteen teams that made the cut in 2023 were Alabama (90%), Ohio State (85%), Georgia (77%), Texas A&M (73%), Clemson (72%), LSU (71%), Texas (70%%), Oklahoma (70%), Oregon (67%), Notre Dame (65%), Florida (64%), Miami (61%), Penn State (55%), Michigan (54%), USC (52%) and Auburn (51%). The breakdown by conference is: SEC=8, B1G=5, ACC=2, Independent=1.
    The Big 12 has lost their only two Blue-Chip teams--Texas and Oklahoma. Could a Big 12 team win their Round 1 game in a 12-game playoff? Absolutely! However, do you remember what happened in 2023? TCU, with seventeen 4-star and 5-star players gave it their all against a team that had three times that number of superstars and eked out an upset. "Go Frogs!" The following week, having left it all on the field, they were absolutely crushed by a second elite team.
    The deck is stacked against the Big 12. When the dust settles on the ACC's GoR kerfuffle, the only team outside the SEC and the B1G that will have a reasonable shot at a national championship will be The Fighting Irish.

      TCU did beat Michigan let’s not forget that. Georgia would have boat raced just about anyone. Maybe not as badly as TCU, but they were going home with a ship regardless. Point is, TCU was not as woefully outclassed as people think. Not to mention the fact that FSU got equally as trounced (yes I know players sat out but they still had talent).

      That math is kinda bogus because Saban tipped the scales on everything. Kirby isn't Saban. Even though he's the best in the game now. When you look at the list you have. 80% of those schools aren't winning chips. On top of that. It's a new world. Salary will change the model.

    • @GoHawgs1987
      @GoHawgs1987 4 месяца назад

      @@lorenzohaynes3886 Well, of the ones he listed, 11 of the programs have won at least one national title in the last 25 years. I think the only team that has broken the mold "recently" was 2010 Auburn, who was under 50 percent but had Cam Newton.

    • @GoHawgs1987
      @GoHawgs1987 4 месяца назад

    I am surprised that the NFL and NBA are not doing anything about the severe lack of dedication in the school they have chosen first. The NFL and NBA would look heavily into the dedication an athlete shows in college for building a championship team. Unfortunately, athletes' dedication is up for auction to the highest bidder. How sad! Dedication to each athlete is the basis of winning championships. consistently.
