Thanks for the feedback! Perhaps I’ll work on a Stark or Stark / Lannister video and see how it turns out. I already started prepping some Stark assets, as you could see from the preview in this video. 👍
Thank you very much for this series. It would be a pity if would not continue it. You have a scientific approach to it, which imho is very good. I am personally looking forward to the continuation of this series.
Man, putting these two back to back, really can tell how Bolton's were the first test mini faction, while BwB came later. Definitely feels like the Brotherhood gained more from the experience, their cards coming together nicer. As a Bolton fan and player, hopefully they get another look next update. The season 5 changes were like... the first step in the right direction. I feel like if they made the tactics cards less conditional and more universal that would provide a nice boost.
I suppose that if the Stark/Bara inclusion in Brotherhood works out well, perhaps the devs will do something similar, with Stark/Lann in Boltons at some point. The tactics deck needs some work too. The Boltons definitely feel like the proof-of-concept, but the Brotherhood already feel like they’ve fine-tuned the formula. But now we’re still left with the prototype in a sub-standard state. 😄
Yes been thinking that they are gonna do potentially more of these allies, foes, shifting alliances sort of things. Excited. Roose was best lannister commander for a while there anyways. Thanks for content
Could be pretty brutal, *but* if the dice go the way of Boltons and the Brotherhood aren’t passing their panic and morale checks, some of the power of their army and abilities will deflate quite a bit. Even if that was the case though, the Bolton player would still have a steep climb ahead of them.
In my personal opinion, commander roose is almost unusable. If you don’t draw any of his cards, you don’t get access to the tokens that you’re faction needs to do its job. Plus, his NCU version is such an auto include for the faction. I feel gimped without it.
Really? I always found him to be the safe, if not very splashy, choice. He’s more of a strategic, less aggro style pick. But I totally agree about losing out on Roose NCU. Having those on-demand panic tokens is huge in this faction.
Personally I am very annoyed with c'mon for not fixing boltons... It's not that hard.... give them Bolton only versions of the neutrals they have in faction oh wait that exists... give them back the old flayed men so they have a hard hitting unit. fix the tactics deck, mainly by just remove the conflicting prerequisites from the existing tactics cards. Possibly remove another set of conditions from other card to get it back down to less than 30% of tactics cards requiring conditions. Boltons are only in a bad spot because of laziness within cmon. I don't want top tier, i don't even care if we are toward the bottom... what I don't like is the lazy skornergy from a team that simply does not seem to care about fixing their screw ups.
Yeah, I totally agree. The tactics deck needs some work, resolving some of the issues I address in the video. And I completely agree that Bolton in-house units need to be slightly better than their neutral counterparts. Those two things would go a long way toward making them better.
A potential player interested in getting the Bolton faction box (mainly due to the books, but Ramsey can still die in a tar pit) here. So, if I understand correctly, the neutral versions of the Boltons, such as Cutthroats, Flayed Med etc. have better cards/stats than the dedicated ones for the faction, or am I simply confused? I cannot comment on the cards, as I have not played, but not making the dedicated faction version of a unit better than its neutral counterpart seems incredibly haphazard. Still, I will probably pick it up (I love the models and can use them for other games as well), but that feels like poor design from the start
@patricksundqvist1154 The neutral versions of the Bolton units are currently identical to their Bolton in-faction versions. There are two units: Dreadfort Archers and Dreadfort Spearmen, that are unique to the Bolton faction and are not available to other factions as neutral units. I believe I was commenting on the fact that the “neutral” Bolton units were balanced with ALL other factions in mind since they can be taken in every faction (aside from Free Folk), so those units feel like they could use a little something extra to make them more special in their home faction. Nothing much, just a slight stay tweak here or there, or a new faction-wide rule that helps all units in the faction. It’s a super fun and cool faction, but still needs some development and balancing work to compete at the level that the Brotherhood is expected to.
@@imperialminis857 Thank you for the clarification! I agree with you about adding something extra for flavour and uniqueness. Perhaps more panic or dmg effects? From other experiences, I can understand that the Brotherhood will be more competitive from the get-go. Bolton was the test and all the mistakes they made upon that release have mostly been erased with the next release.
@patricksundqvist1154 Yeah I think Boltons suffered from being a proof-of-concept for the mini-faction product idea. There are many ways the Boltons could be boosted in power level. Some type of extra panicked token synergy, adding one Lannister OR Stark unit to their armies, etc. Lots of paths they could take to improve the faction.
I’m sure I speak for a lot of your fans when I say I’d love to see more commander videos. Great work as always!

Thank you for this Series!
Love the Boltons Flavour!
And the Brotherhood!

Thanks for the feedback. I’m glad you enjoyed the series. I’ll give the Commander Series a test run and see how it goes! Stay tuned.

Please please do faction by faction commander tactics. It's so helpful to know! Also you forgot to do House Arryn.
Thanks for the feedback. House Arryn isn’t in the game yet but there’s long been hope it’ll be added some day! Maybe the next major faction?
Time to imagine a battle report / Bolton Vs noBanner

@@imperialminis857 catelyn wants that rapport
Just got over 1700 with Boltons hell yeah
A mean feat, congrats!
