    Very lovely sounding violin ,You play beautifully, I played violin many years ago and was considered could have a talent for it. I still have the violin that a n old family member made for me . I studied the Mai Bang school , Have you ever read Violins and Violinists , by Franz Farca,
    It was given to me to read by my Luther relative the man the built me the violin I still own, he told me I will give you this violin but you must play it for me after you have learned to play it . He was 85 years old when he gave me the violin, I played it for him months before he died at 89yrs , He was so pleased . You are so very right about playing to wake the violin up. Sad to say this , after he died , he was working on 3 violins new ones he had made , his close family member his son told me that he threw those unfinished violins out burnt them. It upset me still does. Why I stopped playing was I had to make a choice and playing music was bring money in when you have a family on the way and working 10 hours a day . Now at 74 yrs my fingers are stiff. Thank you and I subscribed, My Ancestors name was Brian Baird , worked on the west coast and made I believe over 70 violins mine is number 34 made in 1965 .

      Hi Len, thank you for commenting and sharing your story. I checked out my collection of violin books, and it looks like I do not have that book! I will have to look into it. Thank you for mentioning it. Oh that hurt to read that your friend's unfinished violins were burnt. I am so sorry. I completely understand how providing for your family takes precedence and how time flies. You have a special history with your violin. I hope that you can keep that history with the violin. Thanks again for writing and hope you have a wonderful week. Thank you for subscribing!

    Hello Cheryl, What a touching story about the violin of Hope, for you it must have a spiritual meaning that will make it sound glorious.The 1800's also causes me tremendous excitement, the way you will give it a new varnish and also disguise the old nose repair. I can't wait the next post. Have a nice week

    I am so glad you get to repair one of the 'Violins of Hope'. They should never be silenced. I have heard that many of them are played (yearly???) in a tribute orchestra to the Holocaust victims. The 'Hebrew Minute is Isa...I'll let someone else have a chance to answer it. You are making quick work of the Pochette! Shame on you for making Freddy sleep in a drawer with no blankets! Thanks for sharing another week in your violin shop! Stupidicus.

      Yes, send them all to me! I would love to get them all singing again! You got the Hebrew Minute. It is in Isaiah! Now regarding Freddy, he is very picky. He kicks off all his blankets because he only wants blankets from his friends!!! Thank you for commenting and hope you have a blessed week!

    Beethoven as a go-between? Who'd have thought it!
    To see the mixture of reverence and excitement you brought to your work on the Violin of Hope was just beautiful. Thank you also for speaking so movingly about the Holocaust. It is so important that we never allow the memory of it to fade, and take a stand against those who would deny it ever happened. Bless you.

    Another great video! Great violin repairs and great anecdotes! It's so nice to see a Violin of Hope. Tell Freddie I haven't started on his blanket yet. I'm working on making Resurrection Eggs. Then I'll make a quilt for him. What size do you want? The Hebrew minute is Isaiah 43:7. Have a great week!

      You made me laugh! Yes, I don't usually give out that information because it could fall into anyone's hands and if it is not done correctly, it could ruin the instrument especially if it is a real expensive one!!! Did you study with someone? Where are you from? and what else can I ask you.....Are you making instruments, or repairing, or both? Thank you for your lovely comment!

    Thank you for sharing the story about the Violins of Hope. This violin of Hope is very blessed to have you restore it. I pray the Lord sends more of them your way. I have been learning more about the Pochette since you are making one. Hebrew minutes Isaiah 43:7, I think. I can't wait to hear the violin of Hope!

    Do you enjoy writing in Hebrew? If so in what form(s) do you write, cursive, printed, caligraphic? It's a beautiful writing system.

      @@Violinsforu2Although I don't know Hebrew or write it, it's one of my favorites in the written form looking so beautiful on the page. Fair to say I appreciate Hebrew. I listen to some secular Hebrew music on occasion and enjoy the sounds of the language. I enjoy your Hebrew segment.
      I'm on the edge of my chair over the pochette project. Won't be too long before it's voice will emerge and speak.
      Please say hi to Freddie for me. Whoever raised Freddie is a clearly a wonderful human being.

    How do we know it is authentic?? I have an identical violin. Mine even has the same inlay on the fingerboard. Not all of these violins have anything to do with the holocaust. I bought mine in Long Island, NY for $75 including postage on Ebay.

    • @Violinsforu2
      @Violinsforu2  4 месяца назад

      Yes, you are right. Some of these may have not been in the Holocaust time period or in the area of the Holocaust. The violin in this episode was made in the area covered in the Holocaust and was there throughout that whole period and did not come to the US until a few years ago. You have to know the history of your violin in order to be able to say that it is a violin of hope. I hope that helps and thank you for asking. I hope you have a wonderful week!

    Can any trained violin luthier re-graduate a violin like this one?

    • @Violinsforu2
      @Violinsforu2  7 месяцев назад

      That is a great question. No, they need to be trained in sound repairs also. And, I went ahead and regraduated this one only because it was not finished and is mass produced. We have to be careful not to regraduate instruments that are made by other makers. Thank you for asking and hope you have a great week!
