Very cool to find footprints of your relatives up there. My great--something or other was in the Klondike Gold Rush, going over White Pass with all the other gold-seekers, to Dawson. He didn't get rich, but at least survived and came back with a little gold. Someday I'd love to drive up to that area, to see it all for myself. Very cool vid, as usual.
Thank you both, so much, for allowing this older lady to ride in the front sea,t between you, on the trip of a lifetime, I never got the chance to take in MY younger years. This means the world and all to me. Lifes hard, and moves much faster then youth understands. I needed the breath of fresh air, the sound of the many streams, rivers, waterfalls and oceans you have taken me to. I hope there will be room for me to stay with you, for awhile, and not wear out my welcome.
Hands down y’alls best video. The writing and narrating is fantastic! Quality editing, quality photography and an amazing sound track. This should be a show on TV!
It was 3:00 AM when I wrote that script. I got goosebumps too! I could make a whole documentary on this guy. It's quite incredible we've never heard of him before!
It's always cool when you find something interesting about your extended family...but to find out that your family was involved in the Yukon gold rush is simply awesome!!!
29 minutes of beauty. Trials and all! With how calm you guys are, it's not easy to tell when the frustration and stress really kicks in. Good traits to have for great travelers.
Just the right amount of trouble makes for adventure. I remember the best vacations as a kid all involved at least a little trouble... Those make the best stories...
I motorcycle camp and your statement of "being organized for a small space" is true in spaces. Even with just two panniers (hard sided saddle bags) and a "top case" sitting where a passenger might otherwise be and a well stuffed "dry sack" it is so frustrating when you lose stuff! You know it is "there" but have to go through every inch of everything to find it. Drives me nuts. I admire your travels...
wow, what a great family connection to Dawson city and the Yukon, that's an awesome family history, hopefully Alaska will bring better luck with the cleaning process and vehicle problems but a least your still mobile and putting out videos for us, happy trails
Such an amazing story about your ancestor. That heritage is amazing and I’m sure you cherish it as you should. I love researching my ancestors and finding out awesome things they did, but I’ve never stumbled upon a gem like that. So dang awesome.
Another great video! Thank you! Before it ended I ordered a tire repair kit which will be here tomorrow. Monday I leave for Tennessee to test overlanding gear for the big trip in June and work with the homeless in Nashville.
Lifestyle Overland Maybe! Look for a 2 dr Tank Green Wrangler with MissionForHope.US lettered on hood, windows and tire cover. Leaving Massachusetts Monday and will arrive in Nashville on Saturday. Will camp on a different mountain every night on the way there. Will serve in Nashville for a week at homeless shelters. Heading home the 24th and will camp on 4-5 more mountains on the way home.
Great story told well about your ancestor. Never know what you will find on an adventure. Got the same 4Runner as you and the same ARB kit. Haven't used the tire repair kit yet but I will one day. We all do. Nice job. Now super curious about the flashing dash.
Having lived out of a dodge shadow for 18 months I acutely feel your organization pains. Every item left out of it's place forces something else to be out of place and it just avalanches. Organization talent is a must, and creativity is a huge bonus.
JeepCherokeeful cool story bro, I have never been to either location. So it’s just a mistake. Why are you so angry about my inconsistency.. I corrected it so no damage done.
JeepCherokeeful dude, I’m note sure what your on but my GF and I would like some.. I have never been to the creak or city and I don’t know any thing about kicking horse. Now if you want to talk about bondo bashing around the Kuwaiti sand dunes and how the crocks in ST Lucia ZA. I can chat about that.
Heading up the Dempster in 2 weeks in a Forerunner for a bit of winter adventure, and have enjoyed your series and picked up a few useful pointers. Thanks, and keep up the good work.
You have mentioned needing to do laundry in multiple videos. Here is a possible solution told to me by a very well travelled woman at Overland Expo she figured this out on a trans Africa trip. They found an Igloo cooler (the kind used by workmen on their trucks, orange with handles on the sides and a removable top lid) on the side of the road. Strapped it on the roof rack, add water, detergent and filthy clothes, strap the lid on and drive for an hour or so. The sloshing around from travel on dirt roads does the trick. Next do a rinse cycle or two then hang to dry at camp. Not sure how well it would work in Alaska but it is an idea for people on the move and needing to do laundry. Also you do a little at a time so it becomes a habit by not waiting until everything is gross.
Another great adventure. I did the trip from dawson to tok to whitehorse in 1997 it was awesome. No passport required then. Never had a problem with my campsite in dawson but don’t remember what one it was. That’s pretty cool that you found a family connection there. Good luck with the panning. Stay safe.
Lifestyle Overland lol it happens and I understand totally. Ha. Ha. I’ll be joining you in another 4-5 years. No matter what happens, stay positive and hug each other when things get tough it will always work out for the best. Take care.
This is great, love it! I made a similar drive 12 years ago when I moved to Fairbanks for the Army. I was driving a UHaul so I was t able to camp like you did but it was still an epic trip.
i enjoyed listening on your story about jack, tnx for the videos of your wonderful trips, btw you have incredible woman beside you and very cute caroline
nice patch work on the tire. that was slick. We carried that style of patch kit with us on our Central America trip, but always opted to get the tires patched at road side tire shops that will pull the tire off the rim, patch it internal and remount it for less than $3 usd.
Hey my momma bear and I have followed you from the beginning of your adventure and are enveenvious envious. We now have moved movie night to Thursday because that is when we get your post. So awesome. On your way south come through the Kootenays if you can there islets of history here and very beautiful. Most of all keep posting. Wilf
I live near Dawson, actually not far from where you camped. We call McQuestin "ma-kwest-in." You say it quite differently! Enjoying your series. I've also done the Dempster. A great drive to be sure.
We've heard it a lot of different ways over the years. I actually like that way of saying it too though! Jealous of your home base, can't wait to go back.
Love you guys! Awesome photography! Dear Lord....how would you deal with "normal" life again after all the extreme adventure you've recently experienced? Lol. Wow! You really got him girlz......honking the horn! I cracked up! Continue on with adventure.
Guess I will be holding my breath until the next episode to find out what caused the Christmas tree lights to come on the dash. It always makes me fear expensive fixes. Loved the history lesson and the evidence of adventure and exploring is in your blood.
One thing You might want to look into is VCI based scan tool so you can scan the individual modules. They are a little expensive but they will show you faults of the other systems in the body and chassis control that won't throw a check engine light and that the torque ELM adapter can't read that is more for obdii based codes are more engine run ability and emission related trouble codes. Toyotas factory scan tool is called tech stream which runs off a PC and the lite version is about $1500 plus $999? Each additional year or you can get a stand alone scanner like an Autel Maxisys which can access them as well.
It’s hard for conventional people to understand that drive for adventure and the extent you will go to experience life beyond the comforts of “sticks and bricks.” It’s a great way to do family, too.
How to make an Overland/bush washing machine. Take barrel add dirty clothes, add clean water( cool/cold) it's everywhere. Don't make too heavy! strap barrel to tow bar or rear deck of trailer( bed of truck if you have one). Drive for awhile, and stop by river/creek. rinse clothes and ring them out. Hang to dry. Fold dry clothes and put away. Baths are simple....go for a swim. .
after the massive flood eagle had a few years ago lots of stuff got washed up around town but hey your whole trip so far only one puncture that's great
Your issue might be fixed by now but if not try “carefully” disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it after 30 seconds. This gives you a good reset since no fault codes are showing up.
"A Dog Puncher On the Yukon" by Arthur Walden is a good book on the Alaska/ Dawson gold rushes told from the perspective of a dog musher freighting supplies to the gold camps. He also did some work on Yukon river sternwheelers in the summer months.
That funny, when we were up there in 2016, I got two screws in my truck tire almost in the same spot (Jack Wade Junction) Had to fix it in Chicken...Plan to go back this summer....
when you made a emergency stop you probably kicked up a pebble into the wheel sensor ring (sensor ring is a cog looking thing that the sensor takes a reading from.) for wheel speed used for abs, traction control, & 4x4 systems of your truck. my jeep's cog got muddy and same thing shut off my abs and stability control.
Another great video guys beautiful country there ain't much difference between Yukon and Alaska I imagine never been to Alaska but it pretty well looks the same. 👍👍🇨🇦🍦
I made that same trip 2 years ago . To me it was all about the fishing . My girlfriend was about the gold. As it turned out I had a great time fishing for Grayling but the girlfriend turned out to be not much of an outdoors person . I live for the outdoors and found a few good bits off gold ( about a 1/2 oz ) .That made the girlfriend mad as heck . We went our own way shortly after we got back .Life goes on But I did come home with a new pup that I called Yuka Grayling . Yuka means northern lights in Casken ( may have spelt that wrong) Anyways They are a tribe from the great devide In the Yukon . Have watched you show for some time now and love your footage . Keep up the good work and have a safe trip .Thanks from Alberta . Am going back to the Yukon this coming summer .This time just me and Yuka
Yes I guess so , just got to know where to look. It's so nice to see a young family out enjoying life . While I was there I met a man and his six kids that make a real good living digging for gold. I showed 3 of the kids how to fly fish . He's trying to talk me into moving up there .But at 60 years old I'll have to give that some thought. I have to say , your little girl made me think of mine more than once . I lost her and her mother on her 15 birthday . That was 16 years ago ,but life goes on. You can find me on RUclips as well .If you find time look for my name .But in the mean time take care of yourself and the ones you love .
Amazing I find your videos and one of your ancestors was also in the Yukon. George Washington Carmack who is credited with first discovering gold up there setting off the Yukon gold rush was my great-grandfather's cousin. My great-grandfather was born in 1869 or 1870. My grandfather was not born until.1924. the town of Carmacks which I think you passed through is named after him. My younger brother and I have been talking about for years to go up
Glad you guys were NOT in an accident! Kudos to Sarah! Hope the clitch is easily cleared-up. (I often solved similar problems on computerized vehicles, after hard jolts, panic stops, and tip-overs, by resetting the computer, just as you described, but they were Harleys. Hope yours goes well.)
That's a tough one. You can see the reviews on Google in this particular instance and choose your poison lol... It will probably be obvious which one to avoid 😉
@@LifestyleOverland No matter you guys are doing a great job I don't travel so much anymore but it's always been by the seat of my pants and I've never been very good at keeping my mouth shut when service is subpar. Any way thanks you three
@@LifestyleOverland That particular campsite is right in the middle of Dawson with all the necessary items and services when everything is working as it should. I have paid up for the convenience when visiting the town. No driving into town, a simple leasurely walk and you are right there. They charge a slightly higher charge simply for what they offer. Come to Ontario if you think that was bad....more than double for a single camp spot without anything....so for the few nights at their rates I can stomach it easily. How many other campsites have generators available within the city limits for the off chance power goes out? Sorry but this put a slight bad taste on the whole series .....better to simply walk away and chauk it up to a bad day imho.....they also have the right to close their business down whenever they choose as posted on signs. Their washing and laundry facilities are used by so many around that i expect they require constant cleaning and upkeep. Sorry you had a bad experience, I've been there 3 times now and not one. I'll be there again this coming June. Maybe you were just tired and dirty and it got the better of you? I'm not sure any words you say will upset their usually full campsite or their ratings. Keep up the usually great adventure series.
My jeep jk dash lights went crazy when just got to Lake Tahoe.... turns out my negative cable clamp wouldn’t clamp tight enough... new nut and back to normal...
Welcome to Dawson City! How did you like that twist in the story?!
Lifestyle Overland man oh man this was a fantastic episode! Loooooooooved the history lesson.

Aw, shucks. Thanks!
Just the right amount of trouble makes for adventure. I remember the best vacations as a kid all involved at least a little trouble... Those make the best stories...
What an awesome story about Jack. It's funny how vast the world is and yet how small it can seem at the very same time.

The transitions in this video during the car clean out were awesome!
Excellent episode, well they all are! I love the history lessons, as i love looking at the past. Honestly, this is much better than anything on tv.
The McQueston story was the best part! I tell my students that history is the story of people. You found your story and are adding to it!
It was so awesome to stumble across that!
Great video as always ,looking forward to the rest of your Alaska videos. Will be going there in May.
Love your narration and the story of your ancestor was fantastic! Thanks for sharing!
Glad you enjoyed it, John!
Such an amazing story about your ancestor. That heritage is amazing and I’m sure you cherish it as you should. I love researching my ancestors and finding out awesome things they did, but I’ve never stumbled upon a gem like that. So dang awesome.
Right? Still so blown away by it!
Again, Great job Kevin, I so enjoy watching you three. Your doing it all right buddy. Keep up the great job you two!
Very cool story about Uncle Jack. Sounds like an awesome adventurer. Just like you and your family. Safe Travels and God Bless!
"Luckily we have plenty of day light." Love the optimism, sarcastic or not. ha ha Yall are great, very inspiring.
"... turns out I didn't know Jack." 10/10 I appreciate the advanced level of humor.

One of my most memorable trips ever! I hope you enjoyed it.
We absolutely did!

Great that you found your relative in Dawson City. Shame about the tyre and vehicle problems. Looking forward to see how you recovered
Thanks!
JeepCherokeeful yea I realize that. Thanks for the policing of the inconsistency. Changed it

Wow, what a trip to find out where part of your ancestors cam from. Great stuff!
Heading up the Dempster in 2 weeks in a Forerunner for a bit of winter adventure, and have enjoyed your series and picked up a few useful pointers. Thanks, and keep up the good work.
That was a fantastic family find!!!!! You guys rock!😄🎆
I love the family history you found, congratulations.
Recently found your channel. Really enjoying your video's. Alaska is truly a wild adventure, thanks for sharing. Safe travels y'all
Thanks! Glad you're enjoying it!
Once again. Another great video! Thanks guys.
Thanks, Ozzie!

Andrew McAllister that’s a real good idea!
Enjoying this trip North. Interesting to hear you guys used to be fifth wheel campers. May have to check out your early videos.
Unfortunately we didn't capture much of the camper life before we sold it. We may return to camper life one day though!
You guys have great edits on your videos! Looks great and fun to follow along.
Thanks!!
I like what you did there “... I didn’t know Jack.” 👌
Thanks 😉
Another great adventure. I did the trip from dawson to tok to whitehorse in 1997 it was awesome. No passport required then. Never had a problem with my campsite in dawson but don’t remember what one it was. That’s pretty cool that you found a family connection there. Good luck with the panning. Stay safe.
Loved Dawson! Unfortunately we were a bit cranky when things got sideways. We were a bit worn down!
Lifestyle Overland lol it happens and I understand totally. Ha. Ha. I’ll be joining you in another 4-5 years. No matter what happens, stay positive and hug each other when things get tough it will always work out for the best. Take care.
My favorite video so far! Very interesting.
I really enjoy your videos/adventures! Thanks for sharing 😊🌍🗺
This is great, love it! I made a similar drive 12 years ago when I moved to Fairbanks for the Army. I was driving a UHaul so I was t able to camp like you did but it was still an epic trip.
this video brought back so many memories...thankyou
Great video, we love watching your adventures to help us plan a bit more for ours. Keep it up, thanks.
Thanks for the support!
So satisfying getting the rig clean! almost as much as getting it dirty in the first place LOL
It was a great feeling for sure!
Wow! Fantastic story! Love your videos
Great production and episode, keep em coming
Will do!
i enjoyed listening on your story about jack, tnx for the videos of your wonderful trips, btw you have incredible woman beside you and very cute caroline
nice patch work on the tire. that was slick.
We carried that style of patch kit with us on our Central America trip, but always opted to get the tires patched at road side tire shops that will pull the tire off the rim, patch it internal and remount it for less than $3 usd.
Been using those plugs for years now. I've only seen one fail, but just popped another in and kept going.
Your sound tracks are making my collection larger. Keep up the great adventure! From a fellow 4Runner enthusiast.
Thanks, Mike!
I was going through withdrawals waiting for another vid to show up lol. Love the vids, already waiting for the next vid.😊😃🤩
Glad you enjoyed it!
Just started watching your videos. Very inspiring and the music is great.
Great video and narration. Love the music!!
Thanks, Michael!

What a great episode....thanks for sharing:D
Thanks for watching!
Здорово!)))) Природа как у нас, как будто по своему краю прокатился)) Great!))) Nature as we have in the Perm region!))
Love the vids.....I think you found something more valuable than Gold with that Lady and child you have.... Venture ON!!
You have Jack’s spirit in you!
I like to think so... It's so awesome to find that connection.
It’s hard for conventional people to understand that drive for adventure and the extent you will go to experience life beyond the comforts of “sticks and bricks.” It’s a great way to do family, too.

You're welcome, Jim!
Awesome video 👍
Awesome video guys! Thought this time of year there would be snow and cold out guess not .. safe travels
This was in July. Production delay 😉
Wow, go to Alaska and learn some unknown family history. You can't get a larger chunk of gold than that. Great story.
Right? What a nugget!

I’ve been up to Tuktoyaktuk and Eagle twice and never had a flat. However I drove the Dalton up to the Arctic Circle and busted one of my shocks.
Nice teaser for next episode! Our family enjoyed watching and looking at the scenery.
Thanks for riding along!

You may want to read "Klondike" by Pierre Berton. He was a famous Canadian writer/broadcaster actually born in Dawson City.
No no no naming names and problems is what makes life better so others who follow will benefit
Great vid as always. Keep your hands on the wheel, you're making momma bear worry.
