I actually kind of like how it looks, and it sounds better than I expected. I'd consider buying one as a novelty but definitely wouldn't spend $600 on it! I was expecting it to cost about $150.

I have one and really enjoyed it, but it’s major flaw is it’s durability. I agree with you that it’s definitely not for the beginner, but I found it a great practice horn. I love it’s lightness, and even it’s unique tone is an asset; however, with constant use some keys are not reinforced enough and will snap. I even liked the “squishy” key action because it caused me to clean up somethings in my technique. It also was a great “lying around the house horn” that was ready to go with a plastic reed. Truthfully I’m waiting for some improvements before I get another, but found it a good addition to the horns I have. If there was a baritone version that would be a game changer. Thanks for the great review.

It sounds better than expected! But hard to part with $$ for a novelty.

They sell their T1S tenor in a DIY kit that you assemble yourself. I bought and assembled one and it was a blast (for me, anyway). It seems to be easiest to reach Vibrato on Facebook. I ordered the kit directly from them and after currency conversion and shipping it worked out to $486 USD. Is it a great horn? No. Is it a lot of fun and a great discussion piece? Absolutely.

Would be good for a marching band, lightweight and weather proof.

I owned one and sold it to my sax teacher, who wanted to use it as a practice instrument. I can confirm that it is way too light weight and smushy. The company also makes a tenor sax, which I think might be more interesting.

if it was really cheap, yes. But I probably can't sell my YAS 23 for $600 and it's AMAZING. Price tag way too high for this. I'd pay $200.

You could mic and run it through some effects to compensate for dull sound.

That’s what most utubers do anyway. Impossible to hear the. Actual horn . Especially Soprano players 😂

I tried one at a music fair about 15 years ago and I was surprised that it didn't even sound that bad. Was looking for one for a tiny student a couple of years ago and couldn't find one. Do they still sell them?

Grafton 2.0 …. If that was good for the Bird, this would be for a master player… but than again, a master player can make a stove fume hood play like a Mark VI!

I tried one years ago $600 Aus I blew it with a Metal 7 with a 3 reed and nearly blew it apart being funk player. The springs looked like ball point pen springs felt terrible harmonics for get it. 🐊

DeMarius Jackson is one of those extremely talented musicians who can make the lowest quality musical instrument sound very good, and he does so with this plastic saxophone. However, there are better quality brass alto saxophones available in the $600 dollars range, especially if you are willing to purchase used. My opinion? Leave plastic musical instruments on the shelf. There is a reason brass instruments are made of brass.
