- A week on from "Strictly Bulleid II" at the Swanage Railway, it would be the turn of the Bluebell Railway for a Bulleid celebration, with the rededication ceremony of 34059 "Sir Archibald Sinclair".
Rebuilt 'Battle of Britain' Class - 34059 "Sir Archibald Sinclair" was the 108th locomotive to be rescued from Woodhams Scrapyard in south Wales. Owned by the Bulleid Society, 34059 first returned to service following its restoration in 2009, but would be withdrawn in 2011 due to issues with its firebox; this would spiral into a full overhaul with the construction of a new firebox. 34059 raised steam again in late 2023, devoid of nameplates and with unfinished paintwork, subsequently featuring in the 'New Year's Day Steam Up' at the start of 2024. After this brief appearance, the Bulleid pacific would enter the paint shop at Horsted Keynes for completion.
The rededication ceremony marks the full return to service for the Bulleid pacific, and the welcome return of the Bulleid bark back to Sussex. The ceremony would feature speeches from Roy Watts - Bluebell Railway chairman, and Tim Dunn - TV presenter & historian. The nameplate would be unveiled by Mr & Mrs Roger Cruse - Chairman of the Bulleid Society.

Remember seeing her way back in the eighties parked down the end at SP after rescue and again last August before final artwork. Now she looks absolutely stunning. Full marks to the dedicated team on a fantastic job. Thanks Matthew👍👍👍
OMG! TIM!! 🎉🎉 Glad to see him again! Loved him with Chris and Geoff in their RH&DRy video!
6:05 that nameplate is showing I can see it the wind is blowing against the curtain
Superb footage as always. Sir Archibald sounds crisp and sharp, and not a leaky valve or rivet anywhere to be seen! Indeed a credit to all of those involved in the restoration. Thank you for posting this video 😀
enjoyed watching your awesome RUclips video today.
Thank you
Arise Sir Archie. May you reign your full boiler ticket this time ❤👍
Lovely to see history in motion, excellent videography and to finish on a true English icon the Majestic Oak brought a lump to my throat.
I at 53yrs have done my bit, small as it is, by planting and tending for a Majestic Oak in my garden, whilst in my shed Lego trains do run.
We are but custodians of this world and all we build so let it be said a persons worth is not measured in their lifetime but by the good legacy we leave on history.
Great work as always mate 🙌
Thank you mate
Another excellent video. Another loco I have never seen. Another preserved line I have never been to.
Great footage as always 👏 👍 well done to everyone involved with Sir Archibald Sinclair 😅😂❤
cool trains in this railway
Looks great :)
Nice to see a Bulleid pulling a rake of Bulleid coaches, something sadly lacking at Swanage, which I hope they will rectify if a Strictly Bulleid 3 event ever takes place. As for the paint work on SAS that is very good but not as good the paintwork on recommissioned Clan Line, that has to be seen to be believed.
The first two coaches were Bulleids, the others in the rake were mkI's. Swanage's two require work so are out of traffic, a Bulleid and Maunsell rake would be really good.
Swanage has 4 bulleid coaches,
Bulleid Semi-open Brake Third S4365S Bulleid Composite Corridor S5761S
&
Bulleid Semi-open Brake Third S4366S
I'm guessing that they could build a restaurant kitchen third, as they could loan S1456S
(Bulleid Restaurant Third Open) & an open third, then you'd have a Bournemouth line set.
I’m more so surprised about the 7 carriages with the bullied than anything else.
