- Third time's a charm! This thing finally got hooked up after being restored/sitting in storage for 2 years. As you can see, it definitely hadn't run in awhile, lots of dust blowing out through the horn. This Thunderbolt was originally located downtown at the city building, near US 127 and High street. It replaced a Screamer around 2013. Then about 2 years ago, the building was sold and the 'bolt was removed and restored before being re-installed earlier this summer. It sounds amazing, and they really did a number on the timing so the blower stays on for the entire wind down. Calvin and Bill were of course present.

Two other videos of this same siren, the same test were filmed on this same day, and that day was my birthday. What a coincidence.
Moved to Colorado from Kansas and I never knew how much I’d miss this sound.
The vibration caused the dust to blow out. One thing that i am curious about is... putting a fog machine in front of the blower intake lol.
Did the damn thing die at 1:03? I would have assumed all the dust would be out in the first 5 seconds because so much air.

Guys, it's collected in the storage and it collected dust. The siren makes vibrations so the dust comes out.

Best ever test for a Thunderbolt siren
Well as most rebuilds go. It only takes a little thing like the in take air filter to be missing and ...bam you got mud hornets living in the pipe. Second stupid thing is the shut down order is incorrectly set up on after timer.. chopper should always go off first then rotator 10 sec. Later and blower motor at 20 seconds. This gives sound to chopper slows down.. voltage feed determines chopper speed on all thunderbolts.
I can’t tell which sounds scarier, a 1000 or a 1000T.
I think the 1000T is scarier because the dual tone reminds me of the cold war.

Kind of reminds of the P50 from Rib Mountain, Wisconsin which rotates for longer and stops rotating like 30 seconds after it starts winding down.
The Rib mountain P-50 is Actually a T-135 and ASC made it to where it rotates for a portion of the wind down.

I drive by this siren all the time and it changes positions every month. Unfortunately it no longer has the long wind down.

But the 1000 is louder by 2 DB but I’m not a really smart siren enthusiast but maybe the 1000t’s sound travels farther.
@@Whyyoutubewhy.. I didn't expect anyone to reply to this 2-year old comment. I was young at that time and I didn't know much about sirens. The answer is, both of them are good at rupturing our eardrums. The 1000 is a single-tone model and the 1000T is a dual-tone model. If you compare two videos with one model on one clip and the other on another clip, you'll hear that the 1000T has a second lower tone screaming along with the first high tone.

Yes, should still be up, but it is reported to no longer operate due to... we don't even know, it just doesn't sound for tests anymore

This is a single tone, not dual toned like 1000ts actually. Which means this is a Thunderbolt 1000!

Justin Lynch probably did. What doesn’t help is who ever redid this t-bolt never put a grease gun to them when they reinstalled it.
Cleaning the bearings out with some brake clean would do a lot

it is a 1000, so it is single tone.
