Wow, this certainly is a trip back in time, my boys and I enjoyed your short trip tremendously, and the boys still remember it. With my three year old granddaughter joining the ranks of train watchers time marched on to the newest generation! It’s amazing how the internet can reconnect people. A while back I reconnected with an engineer back in Germany who let me ride in the cab of his steam engine, that was close to fifty years ago, there is a movie of this also in my RUclips channel. Thank you so much for posting this. Yes, there I am 26 years ago "breaking the rules" (we were not supposed to give cab rides officially). I no longer work for Conrail or its newer owners, so I don't really care. I remember the cab ride but had long forgotten you had recorded it. Anyhow, that is me (Joel Torres) and the Conductor was Dan Sussman. I am glad we gave you and your sons a cab ride, and that all these years later we can revisit it.
Thats awesome! Conrail was one of the few railroads that allowed cab rides. The crews use to give me and dad pins and hats at North Bergen Yard when I was little. Times have changed for sure
I once got a CR cab ride. Dec. 26,1977 McCook,Ill. on the IHB. the engine? CR 1693. F7,F7,FP7,F7 was the consist. CNW/Wood yd to Elkhart,,,still have the paperwork(form19)that the crewman gave me.
