I used to travel chennai to coimbatore regularly on omni bus till couple of years back. Due to their increased price I completely stopped using omni bus and use my own car which is almost 40% less cost to my family. Most of friends also echo my view and they also use own transport than omni bus. This is high time for them to relook their approach. My parents stopped omni bus because their is no transparency in rest stops. Most of bus drivers behave very rude when elderly people ask for rest stop. My parents start using train which is sometime expensive but they have relaxed travel.
Yes, own car travel might me cheaper, if you missed to calculate vehicle investment, Daily Maintenance, Parking, Ideal time, Driver salery, Cleaning charges, Comfort, Relax, breakdown risk, Depreciation.

I empathize for the people who struggle to travel by paying high price but both Avudai and the other side simply don't understand how economy and business works. Omni owners also have to make profit to sustain their business. His point about government transportation running in massive loss is an excellent example to justify that the government ticket prices are commercially unviable. In the name of socialism, we are spoiling Tamil Nadu. I hope that this trend changes.
Quarterly road tax alone is 1.5 Lakhs. So they have to pay 6 lakhs per yr as Road tax in TN. Insurance, Yearly permit fees, Maintenance, Driver and other labour costs, Land and Office rents are extra.

Fix a nominal rate for the omni buses. Every bus has its own price tag. Govt should intervene and fix a price, for semi sleeper, sleeper not more than this price. Because of this Omni buses flexibly hiking the price. And TN govt should see how Kerala and Karnataka govt handle their Govt buses. Both Kerala and KA has these so called luxury buses (Volvo, Mercedes Benz) at cheap price compared to Omni buses. TN Govt should also have kind of operations. A public service that too in road ways is meant for all class people. It should not be tagged that only luxury class should travel in luxury buses.
