L I S T E N - Interactive Sound Installation

An interactive sound installation by Laura Sánchez and Luciana Morelli
LISTEN is an interactive sound installation that represents the city of Basel through sounds that were recorded in different neighborhoods by the artists. The visitors can choose which sounds to play and thus become the co-composers of an open work that will be different each time. Through this experience, the audience is invited to listen to the city in a different way.
"In a way the world is a huge composition, a huge musical composition that's going on all the time, without a beginning and presumably without an ending. We are the composers of this huge miraculos composition that is going on around us. And we can improve it or we can destroy it. We can add more noises or we can add more beautiful sounds. That's all up to us".

It was first displayed at BScene, das Baslers Musik Festival in April 2022.

You can visit the installation on Friday 27.01.2023 from 19:00 to 23:00, at the Jazzcampus (Utengasse 15, 4058 Basel), as part of "SPIEL! Games as critical practice", an exhibition of works by students of the Sonic Space and Jazzcampus from the Musik Akademie Basel.
