A few too many uncomfortable silences by Tony. But a great interview nonetheless, of course. From what I understand, Tony Carey is a great person to hang with. Thank you for posting this.
Rainbow rising is pretty much 40 years old and boy has it stood the test of time. That keyboard intro on Tarot Woman alone from Tony .......any other band would kill to have an opening track that good. The fact that Rainbow could afford to not even use this track to open live speaks volumes as to just how good Tony, Jimmy, Cozy, Ronnie and Ritchie were. Tony I salute you sir and your services to Classic Rock. You are a legend.
🥀Tony Carey is a Powerful singer-songwriter. Beautiful Man with a Beautiful Soul! I love to hear how he's doing and what he's doing in the music industry. Wonderful Interview I love this. Take care Tony met you in Atlanta Ga Sound Scape Recording Studio in 85 Blue Highway was your time well spent on it. I love all of his song's! Thank's for posting this🥀☝️🥀🎹🎤🎸☝️
Totally agree. I met Tony outside after a gig, had my copy of Pink World with me...hey...you never know:-) He was standing all alone and I asked if he could sign it. He gladly agreed and took out his own pen, a gold ink pen......and it breaks down and ink pouring out on the record. He is so sorry about it while I just say, "hey, this will be an awsome memory" :-) So a really nice behaviour from him, always nice to see old heroes beeing humble.
I love to hear how well he sounds and I'm moved when I hear him talking about standing in the kitchen and being happy to be alive.. And I love that he really is himself .. So happy for you bubbah! Continue doing great!
+eqsmooth The story goes that during the recording of 'Long Live Rock n Roll' Blackmore played a series of pranks on Tony Carey. They were staying and recording in an allegedly haunted chateau in France and Blackmore scared Carey shitless and virtually gave him a nervous breakdown.
No, the opposite of Narcissism. He could care less what he looks like or what anyone thinks. He scared Tony and he was not 'sensitive' enough to see the guy was really scared shitless. From a ghost? Sure dude. Still, you need to humor the timid.
TheDogpa Quite possibly true. But to scare the man shitless, drive him out of the band, write a song about it and put it on the album was beyond the pale imo.
Everyone criticizes Blackmore for making Rainbow a top 40 band. RB said Rainbow was great but they weren’t making money. Blackmore was paying for the band out of his pocket. Why would anyone blame him unless they were playing for free.
+Igor Flexus Blackmore a true Genius, Just very eccentric, I think he's kool., my Friend opened for Rainbow. after words everybody was dying to talk to him, he didn't say one word.
Interesting; TC said here that he didn´t only wanna play "covers" - meaning the Rainbow back catalogue; that he & JR Blackmore wanted to do NEW music, put original music out...which the other members of OTR didn´t seem to wanna do. Move forward 4 years, & what does TC do? Playing ol´Rainbow covers, with his "Tony Carey´s Rainbow Project". "The only consistency with Tony Carey is that he is inconsistent", to quote a swedish fan.
Cool guy, and a good interview.Hell If you listen to LET IT BE by the BEATLES, McCartney's piano changes register to accommodate Harrison's mid range guitar solo, this was done intentionally and in 1969. Blackmore is no great thinker sorry .
The interviewer doesnt sound like he is from Nova Scotia at all, he has a foreign accent that sounds European. He may live in Nova Scotia but I doubt very highly he is a native Nova Scotian.
I think he joined Rainbow when he lived in California. He latter moved to Germany. I didn't know he moved to Nova Scotia. Tony is a very talented artist. I have most of his music. Chow
30 Solo albums? There's just too much music to listen to for one person, even with the assumption that 95% of the published music is mediocre or complete shit.

Man what player! Incredible soloist!
"Pink World" is a masterpiece. I have several different copies of it on vinyl. I don't do that with a lot of records. Continue to be well Tony.

The intro/outro of Tarot Woman is one of the best synth sound in the history of music.

Truly a talented keyboardist, and in my opinion underrated as a singer.. Loved his stuff with Planet P too. Thank you for the great music Mr. Carey.
Now you have your first subscriber metal forever
What a nice man. Saw him at a restaurant in Malmö 🇸🇪 some years ago. And had a chat after the concert. Class act 👍
Have been there, too :) The organizers said, after the concert: "shit, we didn't record this gig." Best live version from storyville this evening.
I love the stuff Tony recorded. This guy and Don Airey. I like how much presence Tony was given on the albums. Amazing artist.
Glad he's in good health again, and sounding good.
I'm missing some organs, but not the Hammond :)))
Sense of humor rules all!
Tony seems like a great dude!
Nice dude.Great musician.Glad he's okay.
Some of the things i heard Blackmore did to Tony were just down right mean no wonder he left Rainbow. Fantastic keyboard player..

eqsmooth No idea dude. Just retelling the story i heard.
+eqsmooth You asked me for the story so i gave it, and i am fairly positive its true.

Tony Carey what an interview brilliant part of rainbow
Glad you liked it.
Tony Carey is AMAZINGLY AWESOME!!!GREAT MUSICIAN
Great job, Jason! I’m a big TC fan and you touched on a lot of things I would, if I was lucky enough to speak with the man.
Thanky you very much.
“We did the whole rainbow rising album in 20 minutes.” Lol!
Tony is a rock star's rock star. A true master
He's great.
The best keyboard player that rainbow ever had. Hands-down, between Sir “J” Lord, Sir “R” Wakeman and Tony!! Robert Mirabilio “TYRANNY”
Great stuff
this guy is a great muso and songwriter
good on Tony Carey, he's sounds like a nice guy, blackmores probably still pissed of sacking him, the first 2 album are the best
don't know much about you but learning thru this interview, I am happy to hear about your survival ...of cancer....so scarey .....so stay healthy
Tony is a cool pulls no punches old music genius guy 😂😂😂 You hear the birds in the backyard 😳

A fine, fine day...
Good interview
Tarot woman, I love the opening..
+Igor Flexus yea its intense, I wonder what Blackmore did to him, that was so bad!!!
LOUIE SALINAS -Yeah! (And I wonder too! Dio mentioned that, but no details. No smoke without fire ya know.
+Igor Flexus Blackmore a true Genius, Just very eccentric, I think he's kool., my Friend opened for Rainbow. after words everybody was dying to talk to him, he didn't say one word.
LOUIE SALINAS.. Cause blackmore was bald dick.. great guitarist.. but dickhead
"I lost a lot of my organs, but not the hammond".... Nice Person.
Birds not pets! Great topic :-)
I don't know everything that happened, but Blackmore is a known jag,so there ya go

And he likes Trailer Park Boys! This guy is cool! B^)
Come on Tony, Didn't Jon Lord put his hammond through a guitar amp long before Rainbow Rising?
Billy Joel of all people did as well, circa 1970.
And what a sound that was! Jon's old C3 through a Marshall Major and two 4 x 12 cabinets... no one's been quite able to duplicate that sound.
A Hammond is not the same as a Minimoog though. On the latter you can modulate the pitch more easily. That's why he calls it a "guitar from hell"
Zed Yago!!! Awesome!!!

tony carey loves tpb
ok i love him

The interviewer is in fact 12 generations from Nova Scotia. Acadian.
The interviewer is from Nova Scotia.
Ah, Acadian!! that explains all now, I should have picked that up having grown up next to Isle Madame. Sorry about that.
Does Tony Carey really live in Nova Scotia now?
I heard that Ritchie treated him horribly! 😱
Vivian Campbell was less than complimentary about Dio.
"controlled by guitarist Ritchie Blackmore"
sometimes German does the job better than English
I heard he had cancer? Probably doesn't like to talk about it.
Most likely does not want to talk about it

Unless you're someone like Todd Rundgren, it's all genius then.
И у Тони рак?!? Да что же это такое? Дио, Лорд и т.д. и т.п. Кэри . Вот вам питание на гастролях. Рак желудка и ку ку. Печально.
Sucks
