    A few too many uncomfortable silences by Tony. But a great interview nonetheless, of course. From what I understand, Tony Carey is a great person to hang with. Thank you for posting this.

    Rainbow rising is pretty much 40 years old and boy has it stood the test of time. That keyboard intro on Tarot Woman alone from Tony .......any other band would kill to have an opening track that good. The fact that Rainbow could afford to not even use this track to open live speaks volumes as to just how good Tony, Jimmy, Cozy, Ronnie and Ritchie were. Tony I salute you sir and your services to Classic Rock. You are a legend.

    "Pink World" is a masterpiece. I have several different copies of it on vinyl. I don't do that with a lot of records. Continue to be well Tony.

    • @boppefors
      @boppefors 3 года назад +1

      Totally agree. I met Tony outside after a gig, had my copy of Pink World with me...hey...you never know:-) He was standing all alone and I asked if he could sign it. He gladly agreed and took out his own pen, a gold ink pen......and it breaks down and ink pouring out on the record. He is so sorry about it while I just say, "hey, this will be an awsome memory" :-) So a really nice behaviour from him, always nice to see old heroes beeing humble.

    The intro/outro of Tarot Woman is one of the best synth sound in the history of music.

    Truly a talented keyboardist, and in my opinion underrated as a singer.. Loved his stuff with Planet P too. Thank you for the great music Mr. Carey.

    Some of the things i heard Blackmore did to Tony were just down right mean no wonder he left Rainbow. Fantastic keyboard player..

    • @NigelFortune
      @NigelFortune 8 лет назад

      +eqsmooth The story goes that during the recording of 'Long Live Rock n Roll' Blackmore played a series of pranks on Tony Carey. They were staying and recording in an allegedly haunted chateau in France and Blackmore scared Carey shitless and virtually gave him a nervous breakdown.

    • @NigelFortune
      @NigelFortune 8 лет назад

      eqsmooth No idea dude. Just retelling the story i heard.

    • @NigelFortune

      +eqsmooth You asked me for the story so i gave it, and i am fairly positive its true.

    • @TheDogPa
      @TheDogPa 8 лет назад +1

      No, the opposite of Narcissism. He could care less what he looks like or what anyone thinks. He scared Tony and he was not 'sensitive' enough to see the guy was really scared shitless. From a ghost? Sure dude. Still, you need to humor the timid.

    • @NigelFortune
      @NigelFortune 8 лет назад +3

      TheDogpa Quite possibly true. But to scare the man shitless, drive him out of the band, write a song about it and put it on the album was beyond the pale imo.

    Everyone criticizes Blackmore for making Rainbow a top 40 band. RB said Rainbow was great but they weren’t making money. Blackmore was paying for the band out of his pocket. Why would anyone blame him unless they were playing for free.

    Interesting; TC said here that he didn´t only wanna play "covers" - meaning the Rainbow back catalogue; that he & JR Blackmore wanted to do NEW music, put original music out...which the other members of OTR didn´t seem to wanna do.
    Move forward 4 years, & what does TC do? Playing ol´Rainbow covers, with his "Tony Carey´s Rainbow Project".
    "The only consistency with Tony Carey is that he is inconsistent", to quote a swedish fan.

      And what a sound that was! Jon's old C3 through a Marshall Major and two 4 x 12 cabinets... no one's been quite able to duplicate that sound.

      A Hammond is not the same as a Minimoog though. On the latter you can modulate the pitch more easily. That's why he calls it a "guitar from hell"

    Cool guy, and a good interview.Hell If you listen to LET IT BE by the BEATLES, McCartney's piano changes register to accommodate Harrison's mid range guitar solo, this was done intentionally and in 1969. Blackmore is no great thinker sorry .
