    I have the original version of the Rush 12 and it’s the perfect travel bag!! In my opinion the upgrade isn’t that big of a deal. I use this bag when I go on a 2 or 3 day get away. It’s the perfect carry on and with all the organization it has it actually has more than my carry on suitcase. Having the different compartments makes finding ur stuff so much easier and the bag is built like a tank !

    I just picked one up in "double-Tap" (basically dark blue/gray). I got it for wilderness day hiking, and it's the perfect size - I also love the quick access pistol compartment, in case I run into an animal that wants to eat me. My only very minor complaint is that there isn't a built-in water bottle holder. But it's covered in molle loops to add one externally.

      There is a side pocket for a water bottle buddy, check the side of the backpack, it's a zipped pocket.

    Bought mine a few weeks ago, terrific quality. Will be testing the pack out next month on my trip to the Caribbean. It is a bit heavy, but that's the trade-ff for having all the molly, padding, pockets etc. Great vid!

    I'm just a little concern that water could get into the concealed area, i don't see draining holes or anything, and i don't think the velcro closure would keep water out in case of heavy rain or something

    • @PNWoutdoorReviews
      @PNWoutdoorReviews  3 года назад +3

      I completely agree with you. It is a major design flaw for those who could be caught out in major rain. The velcro does not completely go the length of the enclosure ( gap in the middle to help open quicker ) and there isn't any drainage for that pocket which sits between the 2 main compartments. Definitely not an ideal backpack for everyday use / or wet climate zones. Luckily I live in the desert portion of the PNW so I don't have to worry to much. I'm planning on making a follow up video on this backpack so I will address this issue.
      I truly appreciate the feedback and thank you for checking out the review.

    Great review. I have the older version of the 24 that I use for travel (back when we did that) and to be honest, I think I prefer the large drawstring pouch on the older model. I could fit a 15" laptop in the bladder section no issues. The inside drawstring pouch worked really well for holding clothes without using packing cubes, etc. Either way its a great well built bag, I also have the 12 (and the 10 sling I keep in my truck) and 5.11 just makes awesome gear. Thanks for the vid.

You can never have to many backpacks 😂

      Not that expensive when compared to other similar companies / brands. I've tried a few packs over the years from maxpedtion and more recently Direct Action. The maxpedtion gear slinger I don't think will ever break on me, but lives in my vehicle. The direct action dragon egg has been used a lot over the years but the organiser pocket has come away and some buckles have broken (which can't really be replaced) after some pretty light abuse. They are both more expensive than this pack, and this has more load capacity. I got one of these on order, Ranger Green. Im going it does me over a decade of use, so worth the money when looked at that way

    Laptop comparment is not really practical because you won't be able to pull out your laptop without removing all the stuff sitting on top of it first. That makes it not airport frendly. It would be better to have additolional zip on top of that compartment for easier and faster access to the laptop.

    • @PNWoutdoorReviews
      @PNWoutdoorReviews  3 года назад

      Yeah your right about the laptop compartment. It's definitely not a quick deployment storage pocket but for the average Joe not doing a bunch of airport travel it's not all that bad. I do agree it should have it's own access zipper or something like that to get to it quicker.

      It's water resistant but heavy rainfall will eventually get through it.

      I bought one and it sure feels different then any other backpack-better. Also i sprayed mine down more than once with Scotchguard. I recommend that you do that if you purchase one of these.

    This guy talks about pockets like it's the first time he's ever had pockets. It's like he lived in a place where only the dictator had pockets, and now he's in the west, where people have so many pockets they don't even appreciate them. Some decadent folks even go around nonchalantly wasting pockets by not putting anything in them.
    He is too ashamed of living in such pocket luxury that he hides pockets when sending pictures back to his family, so they don't think he's become an entitled, spoiled, pocket hedonist.
    He's vowed to himself that when he has children, he will teach them to appreciate pockets. They have to know there are people in the world who have to wait 10 years before being assigned their one lifetime pocket, and pocket crime is so severe that people who have pockets often fear having their pockets stolen by pocketless pocket thieves.

      😂 I really do appreciate pockets and I do appreciate you checking out the review of this backpack that definitely doesn't have enough pockets.
