“So typically these sorts of - even if you think about an antiviral program you might run on your home computers, they tend to have very high privileges on the computer,” she told Sky News Australia.
“Meaning that they have sort of master control over the computer.”

Why PoS needs antivirus? It has to be closed system. The same with most other systems. This incident shows major flaw of how those systems are managed - over reliance on 3rd parties, big vendors. Updates at first must go to quarantine environment. Now evidence shows that 3rd party update goes live all over the world immediately. That is pure incompetence.
I wonder whether this has anything to do with the un-reported but significant problems with the latest Intel CPUs used in servers that are failing at a rate up to quite literally 100%.
