First of all, (after having written and edited what followed) I am now convinced I hear the note that you speak of at exactly 1:47.
Fascinating suggestion that fits my current discovering harmonies. You might be right, the G sharp might be the very note that leads to "something different". To me, it's a 7 of the V to D major which is the "relative" major to the b minor indicated in the title. I know of no textbook wisdom that i might have "reflected". Cheers!
