Through his honesty, he is also a faithful soul on the subject of love, which is not always returned by Columbina (the girl who is in love with Pierrot), which understandably leads him to his sad person. But exactly his hopeful way makes him so special 🙂

this is more of a mime than a pierrot, but they did a wonderful preformance
At some point in history they basically became synonyms I guess.
As far as I know, the pierrot is the ancestor of the modern mime, as the jester is of the clown.
