    There is one catch about some universities. You study engineering it's understandable that you didn't mention this. Some universities have an exam as part of the offer rather than a strict did you get in system. What this means is for some subjects like maths (+stats which is what I'm on), you can get in with an A*A*A but also if you get an A*AA if you do well enough in these exams (that was actually how I got in). Also if you want to do maths at Cambridge, you have to do the interview first and then take the entrance exam which takes place during your A levels. It is for this reason that for cambridge maths, they give out offers to twice as many people as the amount of places they have available.

      I kind of mentioned this when touching upon entrance examinations, I had it for Cambridge with the ENGAA for engineering, but I think you’re are referring to exams that help lower your entry requirements which I didn’t have for engineering

    Passion may not be a good indicator and it changes as your circumstances become different. It is wiser to seek after your purpose and your true strength. For example, you may like playing with Lego, but no one will pay you on doing Lego, since you could be good in maths and you don’t mind doing a bit of computer, you can pursue data science.

    • @denizsancar
      @denizsancar  Год назад +1

      Great point however at this young age very few people would know their true purpose and I wouldn’t recommend someone doing something they are good at if they hate it. It sometimes should be more about happiness than money. But you’re right, if you can find something you are good at, that is a great career and you don’t mind it, then that is a great place to start

    Hi Deniz, thank you so much for making this amazing video!! I'm an international student and i'm planning to apply for ICL in 2025, and i really need help with some questions. I know ICL is located in South Kensington in London, which i'm sure is a beautiful place, but i haven't been to London before so i'm a little concerned whether living there for three to four years is affordable for my family. Could you plz tell me how much money should an undergraduate student have to live a average-standard life in ICL for one year?(not including tuition fee) It would be a great help!!!

      South Kensington is one of the most expensive places in London 😅 1st year you get accommodation with cheaper ones out in zone 2/3 of London but fortunately because of how well London is connected with the tube, you can get accommodation preety much anywhere in London for 2nd year onwards and be able to travel into university 😌

    hi Deniz, I’m applying for ic mechanical engineering in 2024, and i got 3a* for alevel maths, physics and further maths, A for chemistry(phy, chem and fm are predicted grades). But i got really bad gcse grades, i took 7 subjects and only got two a* for math and physics, rest of them were B and a G for Spanish. I just wondered do you think this is a competitive transcript or kind of far reach for IC?😢

    • @denizsancar
      @denizsancar  8 месяцев назад +1

      Hi there, your a-levels are the biggest determining factors, the fact you got a* in maths and physics gcse is really good as I know that’s super important for engineering, I know people in my cohort that didn’t get A*/a/b in all their GCSEs but still got in so don’t let that hold you back especially since you did well in the maths and science based GCSEs. As long as you smash your alevels and the rest of your application is solid you should have a great shot of getting in

      Hi Daiyaan, I am doing an MSc in Computing (Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning) at Imperial, so I can possibly answer your questions. In terms of graduate salary after the degree, Imperial College London is 1st in the UK according to the Guardian, and for job placement, it is in the top 3 (this metric is harder to evaluate though, since Imperial grads are likely a lot more picky about the jobs they want to go into after graduation, personally I think graduate salary is the better metric). In terms of software engineering Imperial is 2nd in the UK according to rankings I have seen with Oxford being first. In computer Science it is top 3 so even if you were worried about specialisation it is top 3 for the general subject. In terms of extras, I think it is important to have something that you do outside of University that makes you stand out but is also related to your degree. For example, I think my background in Visual Effects and Computational Graphics aided my application. Also, in your application make it clear why you think Imperial is good for Software Engineering and also if you do add something extra why you think Imperial is good for that too, e.g. Imperial has a Realistic Graphics and Imaging research group that I want to be a part of which was in relation to the VFX and graphics. Let me know if you need any more information. @@daiyaan4400

      Hi Varisha, great question, studying computer science at Imperial is very much dependent on your Maths grade, I know people in my course that have got into Imperial with 6s at GCSE but I’m preety sure their maths grade was at least a 7. A levels are where it matters most but I’m not entirely sure if GCSE could hinder you, I would double check the imperial entry requirements and reach out to them directly if you still have any concerns 😅
