That was definitely worth braving the weather.

Bad weather usually brings out all of the fish worth catching! Cheers!

I can't wait for the ice to melt so I can get fishing again, great video makes me want to get my float tube out.

Where do you live? Most of the lower lakes here in Utah have melted off. I can't wait for the high country lakes to ice off though. A lot of the streams are starting to run high with runoff, so I'll be hitting up lakes for the time being.

@@FishikiFlyFishing I live in Alaska, most of the water up here still has ice on it.

Thank you! Creeks and rivers will always be my go to but I definitely appreciate and love a day out on a small lake with a float tube. Dry fly action from the float tube is pretty awesome though, I’m hoping to pull off a few trips this summer with some good dry fly action. Thanks, for watching!

I'm new to float tubing for trout! Nice video! Can you tell me what size rod and wt you find works best for you out on the Tube? Thanks

I usually fish with a 4wt or 5wt. My 5wt is 8’6” and my 4wt is 9’. If I’m fishing a high mountain lake with smaller fish, I’ll break out my 3wt. The longer the rod the better on the float tube in my opinion. The higher you can get your line off the water, the further you can cast, which is especially helpful when your fishing dries. Good luck!

I'm new to fly fishing and float tubing. About how far do you cast the fly out?

It really depends on the type of lake that I’m fishing and what kind of fly fishing I’m doing. If I’m using sinking line and dragging nymphs and streamers in a lake >25 feet I will use a sinking line that is rated at around 6 IPS. Sometimes I’ll run out as much as 50 feet of line. On shallow lakes
