Front breaks on a 400ex are fine..raced 6 years with no issues. If your fast you don't use your breaks hardly at all. Just get aftermarket break pads and your good
For easy addon front shocks that don't require revalving. Use either kawasaki kfx400 fronts or suzuki ltz fronts either being resivor shocks like the trx 450r ones. But are much softer and better for riders under 200 lbs with no need to revalve. .. the dual piston front yfz450r calipers are awesome. To further improve break response. Use braided brake lines. Great video. First thing I did on my 400 EX was buy 450 R shocks and grind to fit.. They are a bit stiff but I have all the adjustments at the lowest settings and it's night and day over stock. I'm 200 pounds so it works out OK for me. The brakes on mine are OK for me but I can see how much rear ground clearance you've gained with the smaller rotor. Good stuff.
Reading these comments, I have to add one my VERY BEST mod I did to my 2000 400EX. A +2" rise steering stem replacement. At 1st ,I ordered a 1", put it on and didn't like it. Why do you not run a swingarm guard? I have an aluminum plate on my 2005 and its bouncing off rocks all the time it seems that would otherwise be bashing my swingarm and or chain and rear rotor.
I think the only thing that should have came factory is the battery starter relay and rectifier and wires should have all been mounted inside the airbox so that it doesnt get wet.
Which Pro Taper bar is that one? I bought a seven-eighths one with CR bend and I had to install a 1 inch rise from it, but I really like that look of not having a crossbar on it.
There are way better shocks to put on that bike, and you don't have to do any grinding. I've been riding for 35 years, and trust me, those things fly, and I'm not talking about on the ground.
Front caliper from trx450 does it have to buy different hub with spindle disc brake? Or can leave same as Honda 400ex then installed trx450r caliper on it?

Love the 400EX and wish they had made in 4wd for those of us who want a sport quad that live in harsh climates.

Do you think a 400ex is a good starter quad for a 16 year old that has little experience on a quad and a pit bike.
Yes
My stock front brakes 14 years old a great they haven’t really worn at all it seems like
Same with my 03.. Never had a problem
Sounds like the guy doing the video does a lot of stoppies

You can get rear skid plates for like 120 bucks instead of doing a whole caliper conversion and not worry about your sprocket or caliper being damaged
The caliper conversion has nothing to do with the skid plate and ALL to do with having dual pistons instead of the stock single...
@@travisbarnes7768 he's talking about the rear one
How many CLAMS...
My 1999 all stock all original . Never had an issue with the 32k hours it has on it . Oil change every 18 hours . Runs and rides like new .
You need to do a video on how to do the conversion
Why do you not run a swingarm guard? I have an aluminum plate on my 2005 and its bouncing off rocks all the time it seems that would otherwise be bashing my swingarm and or chain and rear rotor.
Those guards kill ground clearance too. I prefer those bolt through sprocket guards and an under rotor guard.
Good tips bro! Heres a tip for you, Get a rear skid plate and nerfs. If you ride woods I promise you'll love em! Good lookin ride ya got there
Oh nice. Ill will be doing my front breaks soon. I see alot of calipers for sale.
All these mods but still no Nerf bars...

Yeah no $h1t! You are simply lazy if you are riding without nerf bars.
Nerfs are for people who forget where footpegs are..plus they get in the way on trails
