Pish, crap, garbage and a splash of Red label sounds delicious! I'll be treating my friends next time they call around with the toast " stick it up yer arse"! Great stuff 😂👍🇬🇧
So much this!
I appreciate the health advice about plastics and sugar, but they're also saying now that no level of alcohol consumption is safe for our health. Not to mention many other kinds of food and beverages.
Judge not lest we be judged, lol. That’s true.
Well aye, but everything fun reduces your life expectancy. Alcohol damages your liver, smoking damages your lungs, drugs damage your brain, so many foods increase your risk of heart disease. Frankly I'd rather live a short life filled with little pleasures than live a century as an ascetic.
aye, love ralfy, but it's quite something to rail against carcinogens after 1000+ reviews of various spirits
well exactly, were trying to make up for it 🤣🤣
Great rant! Be careful with paper straws. It's been revealed that many contain a PFAS coating to prevent the paper from getting soggy :)
Invest in a kit of stainless steel straws. They are not that expensive. Wash them, use them over and over again and pass them on to the next generation if you like... I did. 😉😄
@@Velodynamic We have some stainless steel and glass straws. Cheers!
I will argue I'm getting into cocktails, mostly the classics; Martini, Negroni. I tend to favor gin, another quality spirit produced by new distilleries. To that end, I recommend the Rob Roy cocktail. Its base sprits is scotch whisky!
I like negroni, gin martini, French martini, and margarita.
I’ve actually always heard to add the spirit last, because if you mess up part way through you won’t have to toss out the most expensive part. Though I suppose with loose leaf tea and red label that’s not necessarily the case 😅
I have a margarita recipe that is clean, authentic, and good:
A pour of tequila
One full lime’s juice
A teaspoon of agave nectar
One ounce of sparkling water
Ice
This is proof that cocktails are not a universal evil and once you try this you will probably agree.
Sir Ralfy, I follow your channel as I mainly drink good quality single malts. But I must say that a Whisky Sour prepared with a good old bourbon always is something very nice to drink 🙂
And a fun journey, to figure out which bourbon works the best!
I was very much hoping for a Ralfy Rusty Nail, but now I think I’m too scared to ask for one 😂
Ralfy!! You've gotta get your hands on a finally standout Canadian Whiskey, I'm usually ashamed of my countries whiskey.... but Signal Hill Founder's Overproof is amazing 😊
I know this is going to sound crazy. I was at someone home. There not really whiskey drinkers. More gin and tequila.
The did have a bottle of Canadian club 12 yo. I have had the regular cc. Never had the 12.
I was pleased with it. To the point I got a bottle myself.
I never been that big on Canadian whiskey. That what my dad and his friends drank back in the 70s. The real good ones to. Lol ( hunter, mist, black velvet and r@r)
I went to Bourbon. That might be why I like the 12. It says it was aged in Bourbon barrels.
I agree about Signal Hill , though sadly it doesn't seem to available in Aus. at present.
As much as I like most of my whisky neat, you'll take my Manhattans away from my cold dead hands 😆
Annual bourbon cherry making with local cherries is an annual tradition. They only get used in Manhattans.
Love a good rye and Antica vermouth Manhattan, 2 oz rye, 1 oz Antica, 2 dashes bitters, stir strain and plop in a homemade bourbon 🍒 and I'm a happy man.
Ralfy, not only showing us a new refreshing cocktail, but giving us PSA's to save our lives to boot; well done sir & thank you!
‘PHILISTINE’, I haven’t heard that for a while 😅

Smoke (unless intentional like with lapsang) is typically actually a bad quality marker in tea, it shows that the production methods weren't that great and there's likely PAH's on them, which you pull out in the infusion so be aware of that. Having said that that goes for most smoked products out there. Just like with many things it's a matter of dose.
Wow lets gooooooo!!! I love Ralfy about as much as anybody but ive always been thoroughly stunned that he couldn’t appreciate a well-made cocktail, with fresh citrus and a small amount of simple syrup, maybe an egg white, maybe some bitters, and completely agree with him, *never coca cola*….. now i finally have my answers!!!!
Very humorous video.
I’m making one now, except with J Walker Black, because that’s all I have handy. Thanks. Cheers!
Never would have thought of mixing green tea (or any other tea) with whisky! Will try. Thank you, Ralfy 👍
I can't let go of my bartender side even though I like exploring whiskies. As it was previously discussed with whisky blending, I can really appreciate a well done Penicillin, which saves me some money on the high quality peated whiskies while also being more adequate to some friends of mine, whose taste buds haven't quite grown up to drink straight from the cask.
Effervescent review, Ralphy. I have been nudged in the direction of trying this myself. I'll probably use a splash of some Lagavulin I still have lingering in my little whiskey library. For that matter, I'll try this with a few different malts I have hanging around come to think of it.....
Dragon Well? Johnnie never had it so good-- that's some fine tea. Dragon Well has a round, vegetal, boiled celery -like note that I never liked. But maybe with a bit of whisky it would be just great! Love me some Jasmine Pearls though. I wonder if there's a whisky to pair with that.
Ralfy, only you could make a cocktail video loudly bashing soft drinks and worldwide over-use of plastics and sugar. I've been having a fun laugh at these last 2 videos... and I couldn't agree more!
I concur with the comments about the Long Jing green tea. I got some leaves straight from China and it is delightful. Thanks for the video, Ralfy.
Alex in NYC.
I recommend all peatheads to try this recipe with a smoky yerba mate from Paraguay and a generous splash of peated whisky instead. Great summer cocktail.
The oozing contempt for this entire exercise is hysterical. Thanks Ralfy.
What's the score for that cocktail? 😅
I didn't realize this video is 15 minutes long until I sat down and said to me: I will rewatch this as a 5 minute malt moment. My God, how time flies with you❤
I loved this! Agree 100% about all the toxic crap out there.. not worthy of mixing with fine spirits. I recently got some Caol Ila, I'm going to try this. And you're right.. over here in the USA, everything is loaded with sugar and it makes me sick.
What do you think about adding natural honey instead of cane sugar?
Honey aroma kind of covers anything and stays on the palate for quite some time for me. It's ok if you know very well what you cover, otherwise it gets in the way if you're tasting to get all the subtle notes.
My missus did the best part of a 12 year Bunnahabhain in Old Fashioneds.
Fully aware of what she was doing..
Honestly? They were Fantastic!
What’s your opinion on mixing high quality spirits? Manhattan with a smoky whisky, a beautiful vermouth and a splash of orange bitters… just as an example 😉🥃
A drop of whisky in a hot tea sounds like a good autumn evening warmer
I don't mind a decent whisky sour occasionally
Mine would be with chilled tomato juice, a sprinkle freshly ground pepper and salt with a, squeeze lemon juice from the garden . Whiskey bourbon vodka don't matter too much I guess but a minimum of a decent blend like Ballantynes 12 certainly improves it I warm up with a couple of those in warmer months then after I've limbered up have a couple of single malts as the main event. Anything else seems too sweet for my taste these days I find.
Whisky+Lime?
60ml Scotch
30ml fresh lime juice
20ml simple syrup or honey syrup (or, an amount to taste ...)
1. Pour all in a stainless-steel shaker.
2. Add ice & shake until shaker is too cold to touch ...
3. Strain into a serving glass ...
Ι agree with everything you say about plastics and refined sugar and I try to apply the advice in my life.
However... I would take an Old Fashioned (made either with a sugar cube or a tiny bit of home-made sugar syrup) over any soft-drink- or fruit-juice mixed cocktail. Done properly and sparinlgy the amount of sugar in an OF is not that bad. Occasionally you can have a riff with maple or agave syrup.
I must try your suggestion with the green tea!
Sorry to ask in there. may i know why Ralfy change his glass from Glencairn to ISO glass? is there something i missed?
Cheers from Minnesota Ralfy!
reaking of sarcasm, while making the cocktail. Love you Ralfy.
I saw the title and had to check the date to make sure it wasn't really April 1st....
Going back about 25 years ago I had a source of cask strength Glenfiddich from a local bottle shop for not a lot more than the regular. Came home to find my flatmate had committed the near life ending (for him) sin of pouring Coke over some of my stash. He then compounded that Sin by saying 'it didn't taste very good anyway'. How I didn't murder him that evening where he stood took extreme restraint
Good lord. Ralfy making cocktails with whisky. this will give me nightmares...what foul demon has taken a hold of your soul to make this? BEGONE SAYTAAAN...
This is very much one of the ways how Shouchu is enjoyed in Japan. This preparation called Ryokuchawari (緑茶割り) and its pretty common.
Im not a big fan of cocktails but there is one I really enjoy and I'll order it at a "hippie wannabe bar" in Vermont when I go up there for work sometimes. Its an Old Fashioned in which they actually burn wood and infuse the smoke into the liquor. Not bad. Cheers ❤
The Brandy Old Fashioned is the State Mixed Drink of Wisconsin. Cheers
Greentea-Red-Label, very interesting. I don´t like paper-straws, I use glas straws. One good idea is also one long Macaroni ...
Great video Ralfy, a good laugh! I have a locally sourced gingerbread spiced rooibos tea that goes really well with whisky. Cheers!
Great rant as usual Ralfy. Agreed on many points. I think many people are aware of plastic pollution, especially microplastics. On drinks; For me personally, I choose to drink "zero" soda drinks like coca cola zero. I like the taste of cola, and love natural colas like fever tree or fentiman's for example but can't have that amount of sugar in my diet or I'll become morbidly obese, and perhaps even develop diabetes. So yes, sucralose it is. Life is full of imperfect choices and calculated risk, isn't it?
P.S: Paradoxically, one of the best natural colas was Red Bull cola. It had little to do with the horrible energy drink, but rather was a fully natural cola where you could actually identify the various herbs and spices used in the flavouring on the nose and palate. Haven't seen it on the shelves in years. Probably didn't appeal to the regular Red Bull consumers.
Fever tree tonic is seriously good stuff, so i'd rather pair it with Tanqueray 10 for a decent gin tonic.
Fever Tree is the only mixer I will ever use.
We've been using agave straws because they don't break down like paper and are still biodegradable
Ralfy, me and my guy friends here in America would love to see you review Cutty Sark prohibition edition, which we make into cocktails all the time here
My jaw has dropped further than David Tennent s in Wild Blue Yonder.
👌 Keeping it authentic as always! Love it 😂! 💯 on the Green Tea.. will certainly be trying this cocktail..
Well done, Ralfy, very
educational in the responsibilty of alcohol.
Being from fl. Whiskey and lemonade is good during the summer and so is rum and some Whiskey mixed with different fruit juice. Like coconut and pineapple lol
But a real old one. Shine with the juice of 1 key lime toped off with cain juice.
That i know goes back in my family 5 generations.
I not that big of fan of un aged corn Whiskey.
But 2 oz of wild turkey the juice of 1 key lime and about 3 oz cain juice. Is not bad. In a syrup cooking. Its hot arnd that in early November.
Recycling glass is dippit.
Re USE glass... like in the olden days.. 10p deposit.. washy washy... fresh bottle.
This I need to try. Both with green and black tea. Have some good quality teas to try out. 😊
Good Morning 😊 Awesome Mate👌🏽 Thanks For Sharing 👏🏼 Have a wonderful day & Greetings From South Africa 🇿🇦
No cocktail mark? Do a malibu and lemonade next. Then a whisky mac.
OMG. You just made iced tea! Mexican Coke is available in glass bottles. Don't know if you can get it the UK.
Greetings Mr Ralfy and thank you for this cocktail recipe. This review felt like watching an episode of Saturday Live Show in its early days. 😅😅. I really enjoyed it, and please no more cocktail.😅 By the way, my Kilkerran heavily peated badge num 9 arrived the other day and will try it this weekend. 🎉yay
problem is, that even if you buy water in glass bottle, chances are that water flows through plastic in the bottling factory anyway. plus there’s the cap, also with a small amount of plastic layer inside. so yeah, glass bottled waters also contain micro plastics (proven) just a bit less. can’t escape that shit… 😔
😂❤The crossover we never knew we needed. This is brilliant
.....well Ralfy, I'm going to try that with my JB.
It's getting hot here in Spain, so that could be a winner mate.
Jonny😎☯️🌱
I wish here in EU there were more of the 'returnable' bottles like there is in Argentina and likely in most, if not all, South America. I really enjoyed buying any of the sodas that are bottled in glass because the taste is miles better than plastic as you've said, as well as the obvious thing; not plastic, though hard plastic 'returnable' bottles also exist in Southamerica.
I know there's a 1.5l glass bottle Coke but it doesn't work the same as in Argentina, however you can still reuse it for your own convenience. Also the plastic part is all correct and the fact it's so widespread and no one really talks about it is sadly true.
Fever Tree Distiller's Cola for my occasional Whiskey and Cola. I use NAS single malts too....am I still a Philistine???😅
I really enjoyed this Ralfy!! Cheers mate!😃
Bless you, and bless us all! We need the levity - cheers!
Thank you for take care us by saying avoid sugar !!! I really like "I not gonna waste even Johnny walker Red label with this garbage" it cool.
Nobody's talking about microplastics? It's all I hear about! That and seed oils
Green tea with a tea spoon of Lagg.. great stuff!!
Come to be amazed by Ralfy making a cocktail, never drinks coke again :D
Another typical Ralfy review. Oh God I love that man.
Rusty Nail
Well, ralfy seems to have progressed somewhat from his long held "It's your whisky drink it how you like" stance. 😀
Cheers to that! Well put. Appreciated
.. 🙂
Is this Ralfy's answer to Roy's hi-ball from a couple weeks ago.
You heard it here first, exposure to plastic Coke bottles rectally is just fine, so long as you're not drinking the contents. That's my takeaway.😁
Really good teas are not expensive compared to other beverages not called tap water.
nice tea cocktail and valid health points, but still funny to hear them from an enjoyer of alcohol, a group one carcinogen.
I'm away to make that with a full fat coke and some 40yo Macallan 😆
Thank you Ralfy, you just made my day!👏
I do think its somewhat interesting to go over all this bad stuff.
While pouring a poison/ cleaner and going on about how good it tastes. 😂
I did not realize I needed a good whisky rant today!
I had a good laugh watching this video - a fine way to end the day 😂
Ralfy poking a lemon onto the bottom of the glass through the ice with chopsticks .. just something I wasn’t expecting to see 😂
Brilliant!
Thank you, preacherman!❤️
Everytime I watch a Ralfy video I seem to have to watch an advert for JW Blue label first. At least until RUclips let's me press skip.
Hi Ralfy, a Rusty Nail is a fine blended whisky cocktail. Paired with Drambuie and with orange zest oils expressed on top. The mix proportion is to taste.
Nick from York
I love you 🩵
You destroyed the monster beverage corporations. 😀
Cheers 🥃
Three wise men - super-sized in Singapore.. The only cocktail to (almost) put me on my backside.
I'm partial to an old fashioned. I think I prefered your Sunny D and Rum yum yum recipe!
Cardboard straws are the literal devil, unfortunately. They melt apart and clog up and the texture rubs my teeth and gives me shocks like nails on a chalkboard. I don’t like plastic either, but paper isn’t an option. Plus, when you’re drinking, all a draw is is an eye gouged for when you take a sip. Best leave the straws out.
Yep , it's a work of art!
Couldn't agree more, Ralfy!
Don’t worry Ralfy, I drink my Pepsi from a can.
Please don’t call me a hero, im not in it for that
Love it! Thanks for a great laugh!
100% classic Ralfy 🤣......love it!
However, absolutely bang on with plastics and sugars (direct and indirectly consumed) - dreadful. The rant was more than justified!
As for cocktails..........NAH 😵, never!
Thanks, i will try it.
🤣 ... all lovely, up & including the up your ars !
ranty ralfy the rambunctious cocktail maker love it
I agree if your going to the effort to make a cocktail why use crap ingredients that will eventually effect your health in the near future. Got to rethink my love of Coke Cola and other sodas in plastic bottles. 0:27
