The theme bikes always looked like gaudy, tacky looking crap to me. There's a guy on RUclips who purchased one of those bikes from someone who wanted to get rid of it. He said the bike was a horrible ride. The design had him sliding off seat.

His bike, while not as flashy, was quintessentially a “chopper”. It incorporated all of the classic lines, fabrication techniques, and features that a 60s-70s period chopper would have, and it’s “blandness” was in fact the result that it encapsulated the Platonic Form of what people manifest in their imagination what the definition of a “chopper” is. In the larger argument about Discovery Channel and these vehicle flipping reality shows, none of them or Mythbusters would exist without Jesse as the starting point and the later creation of “Monster Garage”. Jesse should just be living off Discovery royalties until the end of time, and in some twisted alternate universe, seeing him in a happy marriage with a Real World cast member from Season 8, 9, or 10, both as recovering reality tv stars would be a cathartic conclusion.

Jessie is a true Fabricator and Craftsman in the days of the ChopperMania I will say it was a good bonding group of shows to watch with my young son , I remember explaining the difference to him about what a true Craftsman was and was not I am a big fan of Jessie James and Billy Lane abilities and didn’t mind buying liscense products of theirs to show my support ironically I drove past the OCC store and shop many times and had no interest in going inside it , Billy Lanes place I stopped at on a trip to Florida where I grew up and lived for several years
I never knew there was a competition between these guys... all I can say, is if I’m going to spend this type of cash for a bike, I would be knocking on JJ shop door for a bike that I KNOW I can take to hell and back... All the hard work, long hours, and just pure dedication and determination JJ has invested into his life is the reason he is so fuggn talented... He can’t build anything that’s crap because he lives his work every day, and takes pride and puts himself into everything he does... it’s hard to really explain, but when you really love doing something you almost actually become the product of what you produce... I also think JJ doesn’t get enough credit for his creativity.... so much talent and life in one man should inspire and motivate other people to want to be as great as they can be, and always be trying to reach that next level... even if JJ sucked at everything he did, he still looks like he’d be pretty fun to hang out with, and go riding and do killer burn outs... 👍🇺🇸
Realistically you'd have Similar issues with some of his production bikes as the occ bikes had. Albeit less bad. Diablo for example is stretched pretty hard core. The bar set up helps and the frame geo is better. Plus he uses at least upgraded motors. Now getting some of his other models would net you a far better experience over all. Besides just reliability and performance. Stretched bikes just have stretched bike problems.
OCC collapsed and went out of business as soon as that show was cancelled... basically because their bikes were JUNK ! Jesse on the other hand was still being stalked by celebrities to get a bike built even after he was off the TV, left the state of CA and took a long break from building bikes. Jesse is, was, and will always be the better bike builder between the 2. OCC turned their place into a restaurant after the bikes failed AND THEY EFEN FAILED AT FLIPPIN BURGERS!

Funny thing is he talked all that shit, but lost both times. I do gotta somewhat agree with him on OCC’s theme bikes though. Those bikes are meant to be display items really. Some of the ones where they notched the frames to make things fit would render the bike completely un-rideable from a safety aspect. They also used prefabricated parts on their bikes they had accumulated over they years A LOT. Jesse at least made his frames, tanks, handlebars, levers, and exhausts all by hand.

I do gotta somewhat agree with him on OCC’s theme bikes though. Those bikes are meant to be display items really. Some of the ones where they notched the frames to make things fit would render the bike completely un-rideable from a safety aspect.
They also used prefabricated parts on their bikes they had accumulated over they years A LOT. Jesse at least made his frames, tanks, handlebars, levers, and exhausts all by hand.

And yet, he's the one who's still in business while OOC is a memory. Funny how actual quality lasts and flash fades. Sure, OOC made prettier bikes, but pretty doesn't matter when it can't perform.
