I'd love some builds that add to the careers in the game eg. a doctors clinic (I've been thinking about making a club of doctors and making it their hangout so my pregnant sims can go and ask them if they are having a boy/girl) 😅 Also, accommodation and research facility in Sulani for marine biologists and geologist studying the volcano. I've been looking for these but have had no luck.
It's beautiful that you brought real-life issues emphatically into your build, not in an attempt to use it for drama, but to show possible solutions and humanizing those in rough situations. ❤
I also built a "social housing residence"! But mine was really rugged (a lot of the CL-stuff) and super small rooms in one bigger building with a communal bathroom and kitchen.. More like the over night shelters I have seen in my country. Wouldn't be so cool to live in irl but is surely fun to play in. Would also be fun to do a story line with someone who starts and runs a good quality shelter in order to help people in need
That sounds like a really cool build. I was also wanting to do another build for a sort of shelter type-thing so I'll have to put that on my to-do list.
No problem. It takes a bit of time for me to go back in & edit the autogenerated subtitles YT does,. So they're usually not up immediately after publishing the video, but I do get them done as quickly as I can. Glad to hear they're helping.
This is a great idea - nice mix of a aspirational and realistic space for what it would/could be. One thing I think would make a cool addition (gameplay wise) is a selling table, so there is a way they can make money with their crafts etc!
Totally. I considered adding one but as the build came together I didn't have a great spot for it out front. I also figured that might be something you just keep in their inventories & pull out as needed. A selling table would be a great addition though.
I love this idea for the for rent pack. I’ve been thinking a college dorm or a boarding school, or redoing my family farm (4 households on 1 property, plus a pond and two barns, and of course the orchards) but this is a wonderful little contained community. I suppose we could also build something like a commune or maybe a frontier or apocalypse style mini community…
I’m currently in college and I’m a sociology major with a focus on urban planning and this is exactly what we’ve been talking about all semester. I shared this with my professor 👀
Loved the level of detail and unique backstories. I loved the idea of giving these sims a chance to start over and better their lives. This is definitely going into my game. Amazing job!
Hot keys/shortcuts speed me up. Learning that you can tap the plus sign button (+) to cycle through swatches BEFORE placing them really helps me. I can see it in the space in all the colors before I place or duplicate it. Saves a ton of time than trying to click on those tiny squares.
Loved this! It's such a good idea. The sims backstories were so creative and the builds you did for them matched perfectly As a player, these are my favourite types of builds - ones that add to game play and aren't too big and cluttered to navigate. Thank you so much for sharing - I'm off to watch your retirement build now 😊... New subscriber here.
no wonder this takes so long with all the details!! i love each story and how the different households might interact with each other. the storytelling side of things doesn’t come as naturally to me, but i find building a lot more fun when i do have personality and backstory to guide me. your approach will definitely inspire me. i also love how unique and balanced your sims are. it has a really grounded effect.
WOW!! Not only do I love the concept and find the build itself so cool and realistic, but I love how you injected so much personality into these sims and how that shines through in their homes! I feel a build like this is so lovely and a reminder for some folks that homeless people are still people and deserve safety and compassion. I'm so glad you created this
Aw thank you so much. Yes, giving each of these sims unique personalities & backstories was very important to me, especially for this build. Seeing housing insecure people as diverse & relatable individuals is imperative.
Oh my gosh i just found your channel and i love it. I've always wanted to start a Sims build youtube channel but keep saying i cant because I'm a slow builder that changes things back and forth A LOT. And also couldn't be super consistent with my mom duties. Your channel is great and love all the back stories! You're doing great and can't wait to see more from you whenever it ends up being. 😊
Thank you so much. Yes, everyone always harps about consistency & keyword research for YT. I'm sure it's very important but I just do not have the time/mental capacity for all that. I'm doing this as a hobby around my full time job. So I'm just here to build what I want, when I want, & post whenever I can & I'll see what happens.
@pancakesmakes yes! I'm not even sure I could set the time to edit much less research and keep up with the algorithm. I love this for you! Your channel is so fun and makes me feel like I'm not building "wrong". 😊
I love thisss. You've inspired me to make something similar! As someone who splits every san myshuno apartment in 4 studio apartments and gets roommates for the other 3, I will say I think you went overboard on the personalization. Realistically they'd all probably have the same bedframe and kitchen shelves/fridge. They could put up posters but I doubt they'd have framed portraits. I can see the clutter being super unique to each though!
True, the level of personalized decorations is a bit unrealistic. I considered keeping each house quite bare bones for realism, but I find it's much more fun to go in-depth with the decorating for building/watching/playing. So it's not true to how a lot like this would look irl, but it looks more interesting to play with.
This is the kind of realistic gameplay I really like! Thank you for thinking outside the box of a apartment rent/hotel idea! If you do put this on the gallery (I'm halfway thru this video) I will definitely be downloading! Thanks again xx
I absolutely love this idea and build. I think it brings life into the sims. Plus you do such a good job at creating characters and their backstories that are so in depth. In regards to your building speed, i think it's ok if it take a lot of time, seeing how you put a lot of thought into characters and creating a space for them, you do a good job. I'm also a slow builder so. Yea. Definetly going to subscribe!
There is a charity in Canada that builds little communities like this for houseless veterans! "Homes for Heroes" will buy little lots, add in tiny homes (some are accessible), an admin/social worker building, and make the area look nice! They choose lots with access to public transit. It's a nice little charity!
Ohh I love this one too!!! just saw the retirement one, need to add this to my list aswell, love the storys! I do the same then I get way to invested in them and refuse to let them die lol!
I've been thinking about building a community space like this slowly over time from an abandoned factory or industrial building after I heard about some cases of people doing it irl. The people generally end up getting kicked out and having their space taken over by the "owners" that had abandoned it but like idk, the idea of taking an unwanted space and making it something beautiful is very appealing. I think I got infected by the abandoned lot episode of Hey Arnold
I really appreciate your realistic views on builds because it’s really overwhelming at times. I’m new to your channel and will definitely be a new sub!
Just found you and this is pretty cool! I very much enjoyed this video and as much as I would like to get back into playing Sims I just can't afford it price and time wise but I'm glad I found a new simmer to watch!!
I love the idea and the builds so much. by telling us their backgrounds and personalitiesr, it somehow makes them seems real and relatable. I'd love to see you build tiny trailer house community if that's possible. 🙆
Thanks! I actually had one that I started, but the build got lost in a computer transfer at some point. I'll have to revisit that idea because it's a fun idea. I'll add it to my "to build" list" 🙂
Thank you. I'm definitely not here trying to encourage people to buy any packs. I don't have For Rent & probably won't be getting it any time soon (maybe never depending on the bugs). I just felt inspired by the concept & felt like building something with what I already have. Hopefully it encourages others to do the same, because even if we can't swing buying something new, doesn't mean we can't still have fun with the game.
This build looks so cool!! I love this thing! If you’re looking for build ideas, the exterior of the build also kinda screamed zombie apocalypse to me?
This was such a wonderful video and build! I love the backstories for all of your sims and how each house reflects their unique personalities and lifestyles. Also your voice and background music are so soothing -- it's like sims ASMR! :D
I've been wanting to start getting into gameplay for Sims and/or Stardew Valley, just not where to start yet. Maybe with the holiday breaks coming up I'll have a bit more downtime to plan stuff out. If you have suggestions, definitely let me know.
I just found your channel and I'm in love with it!i noticed alsl that a lof of other simmer usually have builds with very definite nature boundaries, I would love fo see your take on a more "communal living" with nature! Edit: i just fonished the video, i loved your take on the natural elements! Also the characters you've created, they all feel so real! I'll def keep an eye on the channel, hope you have a nice day ☀️
immediately I imagined the Greenburg (the elderly lesbian couple with a grown son from eco lifestyle) owning and managing this for the struggling artist in Del Sol
My son died whilst living homeles in Tasmania Australia. The Govt gave him housing in Adelaide but he could only sleep on the veranda. He had mental health (schizo-affective.)
I am also curious about how long I truly take on a build but also it'd be so high I also don't want to know haha. Definitely well into the double digits for every build. 🥲
What a great idea! I'd totally watch this if it was a let's play series. I love the backstories you made up for all of your sims. Here's an idea; do another homeless community for magical sims. 😀
If I was to get the for rent expansion, this type of thing is the only way I'd use the landlord feature. Providing a home for Sims trying to get back on their feet.
Yeah, I haven't bought a new pack since Cottage Living haha I'm in no rush though, I have plenty of stuff I can do with what I already have in the game.
I take forever in cas and bould mode that when im done setting up a new family I'm done playing 😂. I wish that i could make like base sims with all the skills and money to start and save them and then like decorate them
Same here. Often when I'm making a large household, there's no way I can finish them all in 1 go. So to get around not being able to save in CAS, I'll like fully make 1 sim & save them to my personal gallery. Then when I have time to come back to it, I'll import that household to continue adding the next sim, then repeat. Once the whole household is done eventually, then I'll upload them to the public gallery.
I do something similar but I had to make them generic or community lots so people would come. In the EL world, all my community centers have dorms, kitchen, bathrooms. Now with FR, I'm building luxury apts that will subsidize my low income and no income communities. Set 'rent' at 0 or below 50 and that's works well enough. I hate having homeless sims. If I'm going to have a world, then I want a world with everyone having a bed to sleep in, food in a kitchen and safety from weather.
The meditation stools would have been perfect instead of the folding chairs in yhe therapy room bc then it would actually be functional. if you have get together make a group with all those living in the lot and call them to come meditate to work on their "issues" and destress Also the military guy should have gotten stuff from stranger ville like paranoia type stuff or atleast posters/news articles bc his paranoia and excareer (yes hes there to get help but old habits and delusions die hard)
Those would all be great tweaks to make if you're planning on playing in this lot. Sounds like you've got a plan for playing some interesting stories out here 👍
@@pancakesmakes oh yea it's not often you find a lot that introduces an original idea for gameplay, esp not one that's just family or career related! Just as a build though it's beautiful and amazing and really captures reality!
Holding "SHIFT" & clicking the bracket keys: [ ] are used to resize items. You can use the "9" key to raise items & the "0" key to lower items. If you have camera presets, you'll need to hold the "CTRL" key down while you raise & lower items so that your camera doesn't jump around.
I have built a few "unhoused" community areas for my sims and I have shared them all in my Gallery. There is even one for a couple of families. It was at least a couple of years ago but they are still there. ID LadyKatAngel. I do like yours better though :)
I somehow can not create anything in this new world. It jumpes back to the 'worlds' page everytime. Anyone else experiencing this? How do i solve this,
I'm building in Del Sol Valley from Get Famous here, as I don't have the new pack & haven't had any issues. If you're referring to the new world that comes with For Rent, maybe someone who has played it can help out?
Thanks for subscribing. Yes, it's so easy & quick to say them when you tell someone your name. Like why not? It's a good thing to share right off the bat.
Hey, really love the video and the backstorys! The only thing that bothers me is your phrasing "She's probably a little ADHD" when talking about Kay. You either are ADHD or not. It kinda sounds like a "Everyone can be/is a little ADHD sometimes!" thing to say. And as an ADHD Person that was late diagnosed and/because not being taken seriously a lot of times in my life when struggling and talking about it I guess ppl saying stuff like that strikes a nerve for me. The struggles one goes through when living with ADHD, wether it's diagnosed or not, can be incredibly hard. I don't know alot about you, this was the first video of you I watched and I don't mean to offend you. Maybe you know a lot about ADHD, I actually thought she could be ADHD by your description (before you said it), or maybe you are ADHD yourself. Maybe you don't think "Everyone is a little ADHD sometimes!" and it was just an unfortunate (?) phrasing (in that case I think it's still valid to give this feedback). Or maybe you do. I just wanted to let you know that it kinda hurts hearing this because it feels like a lot of ppl do not realise that there is a giant difference between having some of the symptoms now and then and having to deal with a lot of the symptoms all at once every minute of your life, never getting a break, and struggling and hurting because of it. Like I said I don't want to offend you by this, I really like your video and the way you styled this Community, I just felt the need to react to that wording. Hope you have a great day!
Thanks for sharing. Yeah, people saying "everyone's a little ADHD" is totally incorrect & definitely not what I was trying to come across as saying. There are different gradations in how ADHD presents for people & that's sort of what I was trying to go for, but I see how it came across in the wrong way. My apologies.
Each of the tiny homes has a bathroom with a shower, toilet, & sink in the 1x3 room at the back of the house. They're pretty small & basic, so I didn't show them off much in the speed build, but don't worry they're definitely there!

A women’s and children’s shelter for domestic violence survivors would be cool. I can imagine you’d give them some great back stories!
I'd love some builds that add to the careers in the game eg. a doctors clinic (I've been thinking about making a club of doctors and making it their hangout so my pregnant sims can go and ask them if they are having a boy/girl) 😅

@@SamJones-qx9hz Love those ideas!
@@Miracle12348 That's a neat idea. I've never build one of those before. I have done a daycare though which was fun.
I love that you gave them all detailed backstories and personalities!
Thanks. I love creating detailed characters for my builds. I think it helps give me some direction & more personality to add into the builds.
The backstories are the best part of the video!
I wish there were more places like this available and accessible in the US.. or even all over the world.
It's like my life dream to be able to provide something like this

Very nice. The “ circle of uncomfortable folding chairs“ got me 😆
This is a great idea - nice mix of a aspirational and realistic space for what it would/could be.
One thing I think would make a cool addition (gameplay wise) is a selling table, so there is a way they can make money with their crafts etc!

i love the story telling aspect to giving your sims the backstory of having been homeless

So to get around not being able to save in CAS, I'll like fully make 1 sim & save them to my personal gallery. Then when I have time to come back to it, I'll import that household to continue adding the next sim, then repeat. Once the whole household is done eventually, then I'll upload them to the public gallery.
❤Love this idea. Are we able to download this from the gallery, residents and all?.😂😂
Thanks! Yes, both the lot & the household are on my gallery page (pan-cakes_makes) for download. Enjoy!
That's great you're building these spaces in your game as well. Yes, let's keep making our sims world better than the irl thing for sure 👍
The meditation stools would have been perfect instead of the folding chairs in yhe therapy room bc then it would actually be functional. if you have get together make a group with all those living in the lot and call them to come meditate to work on their "issues" and destress
Also the military guy should have gotten stuff from stranger ville like paranoia type stuff or atleast posters/news articles bc his paranoia and excareer (yes hes there to get help but old habits and delusions die hard)
@@alexrusso6503 Thank you so much. Glad you like it 🙂
I just realized last night you can make the book shelves skills only......
How do you make items go higher/lower and bigger/smaller? Help me out please!
Thank you so much!!!! @@pancakesmakes
I have built a few "unhoused" community areas for my sims and I have shared them all in my Gallery. There is even one for a couple of families. It was at least a couple of years ago but they are still there. ID LadyKatAngel. I do like yours better though :)
I do finish builds within a couple hours. My secret? They're not good at all lol
Haha, no shame in that. You're just efficient & get to start playing right way which is nice.
Subscribed to you because you told us your pronouns at the start, really appreciate that! Normalize telling others our pronouns!
There are no toilets or showers. Otherwise it's great!
Each of the tiny homes has a bathroom with a shower, toilet, & sink in the 1x3 room at the back of the house. They're pretty small & basic, so I didn't show them off much in the speed build, but don't worry they're definitely there!
