agreed! her characters personality is quite fleshed out considering her short span! I love her geeky moments & how she’s a dork under all that corporate talk. I hope she does return!

Tho this show might be the “problem child” of the muppets era, I LOVE it & wish it had more chance to flourish😢
The episode where they all get drunk with Piggy is forever my fav, the innuendos pushed the network threshold LOL!

With your comment about Denise being too nice, I actually can see that being somewhat based in reality. She’s meant to be the exact opposite of miss piggy, which some ppl go for after a bad break up

I wish this show could have lasted longer and they got to do a season 2 they could've still used Denise and have a episode where her and Kermit decides to still be friends even after Kermit got back together with miss piggy, just wished people didn't dismissed this show when it first aired.

If you ask me, Kermit and Denise’s relationship was doomed to failure. In episode 11 of the ABC series, she’s revealed to be quite the jealous type and has difficulty trusting Kermit around his ex Miss Piggy. This is especially apparent when they sang the song together at the end of the episode, where she glared disapprovingly at the two of them throughout. And ultimately she decided to just breakup with Kermit convinced that he still has feelings for Piggy. It’s not an uncommon trait for girlfriends in movies and TV, but what Denise failed to realize is that the only reason Kermit and Piggy performed that song together in the first place is because their branding guru Pache was a total dick. He didn’t like that the Muppets didn’t go along with his ideas for the show, so as a form of bitter payback, he sends the shows guest stars, Key & Peele, over to Shark Tank, forcing Kermit and Piggy to scramble together a new number at the last minute. And if they didn’t, the show would be canceled and everyone would be out of a job. But when it was all said and done, Denise didn’t seem to care and just walked out on Kermit. If Denise was too proud to look at the situation from Kermit’s point of view, then that’s just plain selfish. Ultimately she’s the only one responsible for her breakup with Kermit. And if she doesn’t see it that way, then she’s not just petty, but delusional too.

Pity. I was starting to get to know Denise. Not to mention take an interesting liking towards her. She kinda looks like Tina Fey in some ways when she wore those glasses. Not to mention cute and adorable as well. Certainly way more entertaining than Annie Sue. She also had a wonderful singing voice when she sang a a snippet of You Are The Sunshine Of My Life.

It’s still kinda sad the show was cancelled after only one season. There’s a lot of genuinely great stuff about it, and it was finding better footing with the second half of season 1 imo. Would’ve been great to have her return and see her character with more depth

The video's conclusion highlights the ambiguity of what the Muppets' in-universe lives are supposed to be like with respect to their identity. The Henson puppeteers and writers have fleshed out so many of these characters, they become real to us. We would think of the Muppets as puppets, usually made of soft material. In cases like this we are supposed to suspend that notion and believe Denise isn't a Muppet but an employee of the Muppets, her "species" being coincidental. What exactly is a Muppet to a Muppet? Was this show really supposed to be The Muppets in their candid day-to-day lives? Or are they still actors, this time pretending to work on another show starring Piggy? I guess that question is left up in the air for fans to decide for themselves. It's interesting how this one character can open up those questions.

Disney doesn’t understand the Heart of what makes the Muppets the Muppets, they didn’t anyway.
They’ve tried and failed and tried and gotten better (with Mayhem) but still fallen short of the mark.
      Their jokes fall flat sometimes.
I have this series (muppets) the benefit of the doubt and it started strong. After watching this and hearing news of the original show runner leaving, it all makes sense.
I was hesitant at first but then actually supportive of them taking the characters in a slightly new direction. I thought they were going to cross the line a few times, and then fell just a bit short. The muppets have always been able to poke fun of themselves and Everybody whether it was PC or Not. Yes , much of the old material is cringey 😬 to watch today, however they also knew how to be subtle and not beer you over the head, everyone was fair game. They were Never preachy except preach in peace and tolerance as the original performers were mostly hippies.
I fee there are many things that Disney is unwilling or scared to do with the Muppets.
Finally lost everyone I talk to either Loves the Muppets or knows next to nothing about them.
Most people under the age of 40 today have no relationship to these characters. Heck I was a little kid when I grew up with them although I would consume anything Muppet related and shared that with my children.
Anyone born after the 90s and to parents born after the 80s really would have a tough time being introduced to these “new” characters when it aired

It's a weird choice considering The Muppets' past show and movie premises. It's anyone's guess as to why ABC went with this format, and my suspicion is that they wanted to be "daring" or "fresh." They might have assumed another variety show would go stale too quickly for modern audiences. Shows factually or fictionally based in reality are currently more relatable than variety shows. The Office was fictional but made to look as though someone was actually in the workplace filming. Maybe the producers looked at that format and envisioned a good fit for The Muppets. The Muppets are fictional but often made to appear as though they lead independent lives along side us. That much would make sense.

Am I the only one who thinks that instead of Denise, they could have just brought back Annie Sue as the new love interest for Kermit in the 2015 muppet series. With how Miss piggy was always the only one who was jealous and confrontational yet Denise was kind and caring towards Piggy. that dynamic is also what they did for Piggy and Annie Sue in the original Muppet Show.

Jim Henson was the original puppeteer and voice of Kermit. After Jim's death in 1990, Steve Whitmire, who joined the Muppets back in 1978, accepted an offer from Jim's son Brian Henson, to take over as Kermit the Frog. Steve portrayed Kermit from 1990 until October 2016, when he was fired from the role by Disney, partly due to Whitmire having irked showrunners during production of this series, by providing detailed notes over what the Muppet characters would and would not do. Matt Vogel was then handed the role of Kermit after Whitmire's departure.

im just happy for kermit that he isnt with that EXTREMELY abusive piece of shit other pig anymore. its insane how long her had to suffer for with her and how close she came to killing him on so many occasions. she is easily one of the most abusive characters on tv. ever.

    • @lahannasingh
      @lahannasingh Год назад +2

      Okay, I will!
Piggy has way more style, elegance, and class than Denise ever did. She had hardly any screen time and wasn’t even given a proper goodbye, it’s also very likely she’ll never be seen again unlike Walter and Constantine, muppets that are relatively new but succeeded in being good characters. She also could’ve been good at the theatre and been a good muppet but as seen in the ex-factor she admitted to Kristin Chenoweth that she was a theatre major in college but gave it up because she got her master's degree. If she hadn’t given it up she could’ve made it big time in show biz and the Muppets could’ve made her exclusively a member because of that. Another thing is there was a lot of potential that could’ve been had with her and Miss Piggy if only given the chance. Instead of a rival what if they instead tried talking with one another and finding that the two of them had a lot in common? Here’s another thing Denise practically looks like a younger version of Miss Piggy what if that wasn’t a coincidence? What if turned out the two of them were related and neither one of them just like how Kermit and Constantine are cousins (Kermit admitted in an interview Constantine is a distant cousin) knew that they were family? There was a ton of potential with this girl and it saddens me that she was tossed out without given a proper chance. Do I hate Denise? No! Of course not! If anything it bothers me what they did to her because she could’ve had a lot of potential. What I hate is that stunt they tried to do and pair her and Kermit together when everyone knew Kermit and Piggy would eventually go back to one another, however there is no way anyone in their right mind can say she is better than Miss Piggy. I don’t hate her character and she’s even a bit cute but she can't and never will be better than Miss Piggy there’s just too much about her that we don’t know or just didn’t see.
