I'm glad you brought up trimming as many people don't trim handgun brass. I always trim brass no matter pistol, revolver, or rifle. It makes consistency of the crimp uniform 1 case to the next. In semi auto pistols it also assures proper head space
I've never really done it before for pistols, but this seemed like a perfect opportunity to give it a shot. If 9mm weren't so disposable I would probably care more about those, but I'll most likely start doing it for the 38spl/357mag. Thanks for watching 👍👊🇺🇸
Good to hear you got a chronograph, I found it was a bit of a learning curve, 4 or 5 trips in I was getting good info. Pistol shot shells were the most difficult. Having real velocity data was something I really learned from. Added one more layer of difficulty while filming at the range though which is why I don't use it, or try to film when the day is scheduled for FUN.
It was indeed a learning curve, but I think I've got a decent grasp of it for now. The range was also really busy, and I didn't want to be "that guy" in the way of other people who were there to shoot with limited time. Took a little while to get used to it's quirks, should be better next time. Thanks for watching brother 👊👍🤘
I'm going to bump up the charge a bit and see what happens. No excessive smoke or anything unusual from not GCing. I've never actually GCd any of my cast loads, adds to the cost and I'm cheap lol 😆 Thanks for watching brother 👊👍🇺🇸
Hey Big Dummy. good enthusiastic content. I have reloaded thousands of rounds of .357, all kinds of powders and bullet combinations, H-110, Accurate #7, Accurate #9 Win-296, and Aliant 2400, which have all been good performers. -Dave
Thanks, Dave! I have all of those but #7 and #9. I do have SW Heavy Pistol, which is supposed to be their 'clone' of #9. I'll have to compare the data between them and see how close they really are some day.
I'm NOT telling anyone anything, no liability here😉 but my 158 JSP Favored deer round for 20"Henry uses 16.9-h110 Win sp-mag prmr@ approx 1.588 OAL with the particular projectile I use for that purpose.and you can thread a needle with it 😉 IV went hotter on that exact loading and groups widened IV went lower and groups widened & dropped obviously and was more messy. Disclaimer, I'm not permitted to disclose load data publicly, lol
@@DummyRound Not what I consider to be concerning myself, starting to flat bit but there was no signs or concern elsewhere I consider to be a red flag HOWEVER , I'm using them in a Henry BBS, not a 1873 Sporter,SAA or Revolver that does play in to things a bit, it's just a good hunting load not one I run 500 rounds through a Saturday you know what I mean, idk it works for me but I do not recommend using it in a handgun or any action weaker than a 92 action with the large double locking lugs, the Henry is ideal for those hunting loads...he ry is not not ideal for SAAS in the least but a great farm/ranch/hunting unit
But the primary reason really I don't use them in pistols isn't because I'm worried about it being overpressured it's just not sensible to introduce more recoil, more sandblasting..ECT to a pistol to achieve a lower velocity than a more suited pistol powder (I like N350 best) because it only burns a fraction of whats in it while it's in the barrel
There are no velocity requirements that I'm aware of. Depending on which state, it could say something like, "only centerfire, straight wall, above 22 cal allowed", some are, "any centerfire above 22 cal", some are, "any centerfire that holds 10 rounds or less" and other variations of that. No velocities mentioned, just caliber and capacity as far as I know. I'm obviously not an authority on the subject of hunting regulations, but that's close enough 🙃 Thanks brother 🤘👍👊
Dang IV missed the last 2 videos, if I can il hopefully get to enjoy them today, my service is atrocious lately it takes an hour to get through a 20 min video for near a month, so far In this video IV seen the PC 150's , those look great!
Have I missed your S.W. Heavy Pistol loads for 357? I'm just getting ready to start using it for 357 (45LC, too, if I can get some Quickloads data), and wondered how those went?
Out of curiosity have you tried using RCBS' press mounted primer to prime? It looks like you're just missing the priming arm and pickup tubes. I've been using that setup for a while and I believe it's just easier and faster than the ram prime.
I have not! Got this thing used and it didn't have anything with it but the press itself! Maybe I could reach out to them and see what it would cost to get those parts out? Thanks for watching brother 👊🇺🇸👍
I would give RCBS a call in the past they've sent stuff out for free but who knows nowadays. This is what you need to get priming. 9113 Primer Arm Pin 9550 RCBS Single Stage Press Universal Primer Arm 2 9580 RCBS Auto Primer Feeder Combo Or tubes only: 9582 RCBS Auto Primer Feeder Tube Small 9581 RCBS Auto Primer Feeder Tube Large
@@DummyRound Those are great, If it ever comes back available try n350,or even N320with that one you will absolutely love it, unfortunately I haven't seen that available in a long long time I'd like to source a couple more Lb's myself, it was considered expensive 3 years ago I bet its really up there now, I was using that in 9's when I was fooling around with competition it's a very popular choice for precision sports, then I eventually got around to using it in 38xtp,357ftx ,ECT from pistols and I'm like this is the greatest powder in the world, lol ,that's subject to opinion of course but if the opertunity ever presents itself try that one from your gp100
That H110 is the magnum mack daddy for .357 and .44 mag handloads.💥
It seems to work very well with almost all straight wall cartridges 👍
@@DummyRound yep, it gets the job done for sure.
It's my personal choice for .300 BLK as well.
It's a good one!
I like those longer videos and you are always fun to watch, beautiful bullets
Thanks brother, I appreciate that👊👍🤘
Great video made better by the color commentary.
You make watching a tedious process a pleasure.
Loved the line, “Sick drop bro”.
Thanks for the comment, I really appreciate it. Glad you enjoyed it!👊👍🇺🇸
Love these Fun reloading videos! Great enthusiasm!
Thanks brother! 👍👊🇺🇸

Another pleasantly entertaining and informative video by the Dr. The chronograph info was dam good to see brother. Keep em coming
Yay for being able to provide some real data, other than how I ended up shooting on that specific day lol. Thanks for watching brother 👍🇺🇸👊
😀 work flo , OCD , work flo , OCD....😉 me too brother 😳 ok back to the vid
🤣you got me there
Great video 👍🏻 I was wondering if you had to gas check 357 mag. Now I know. Probably would if your running them hot though.

Haha thanks. How did your primers look up at 16.9? I know mine aren't totally flat, but have yet to try it in the lever gun.

I see a 358 Winchester or 35 Whelen rifle in your future....
I've got a 35 Remington!
I forgot to mention that in my country we have a say that 1000feet pr sec for deer hunting but I don't know what the rules are in America

Anyone here tried imr 4227 ? I have not but it's on the way, interested to see whats to be said about it.
I'll be testing this soon, but have never used it before. I would also like to hear what everyone thinks.
Yes in 44 magnum it is filthy but the most accurate magnum powder I have ever tested. Gonna try it in 357 magnum shortly.
What was you firing these from? 4"-6" barrel?..just curious.
4 Inch GP100
