    could " staring into the fire " at the end of the piece also show that due to her father's impact, she has escaped poverty and hardships because having a fireplace is considered something richer people would own. If this is the case it perhaps makes the poem antithetical.

      I can understand your interpretation here and I certainly agree that there is a sense that she has escaped the poverty her father knew. There’s a sense of intense reflection at the end. I’m not sure if fire places are considered a feature of wealth - I suppose it depends on the fire place!
