I do care about saving money. I bought mine on Amazon Prime Day and Black Friday.
You could add oil and lotion to the inside of the boot. It will soften and loosen up the fibers for an easier break in. Not to mention that the conditioner properties will prepare the lining for the heat and perspiration from your foot.

I started with size 12 US in January, I wear the same size in African Rangers and Razorbacks. Both are just right. The first pair of Numzaans feels a bit loose (the stiff leather contributes). I just received the new pair (in natural) 11.5 US. The toes are just a bit snug, but everything else feels better than the size 12s. I don't have much hope for break-in on the ultra thick toe box, we shall see. Best of luck with your family medical procedures.

Yours truly has had two ablations both done differently. After the first one my heart was back in rhythm 95%. I should have called it good since I felt pretty darn good. But my doctor wanted to get that last 5% and it didn’t work. I’m now back in a-fib 90% of the time but I don’t feel I’m in a-fib. Please wish Amanda the best of luck. The procedure is a piece of cake!

No heavy lifting for 2 weeks. She never felt her AF and it was discovered incidentally, so she’s finding it hard to gauge if she feels “better” and we await a check in 3 months when the ablation scarring has settled!
Teik, do you think this gusset design helps in uniformity with tongue and break-in? This instep and hot spot isse for break-in on many PNW, thick leather, especially certain Thorogood boots is a real thing. Very clever design here from Jim Green. Excellent video, thank you!
I bought a pair about 6 months ago, but haven't worn them once. You get a lot of heft for the money but, to me, they're too chunky for everyday use. I'll likely use them as a hiking boot. For anyone who enjoys a chunky statement boot such as Doc Martens, these might be a nice alternative.

I ended up returning and sizing up 1 full size to accommodate my orthotics. I was afraid that thick leather was going to be a bear; however, these are the most comfortable boots I've purchased to date and the ones I reach for when I do not need to wear a more attractive pair of boots. I often put conditioner on smooth leather boots to soften the leather or bee wax if suede or rough out. Only wax flesh boots I don't touch it out of the box.
As a proud owner of a few Jim Green boots, don't sleep on them. They are great boots and well worth the price, which is very affordable. Tough boots that will last a very long time, even if you have a tough on boots job/work.

Speedy recovery to you both! As for office-wear, most people I know wear sneakers or even something like hiking boots to the office. I guess I don’t know a lot of lawyers or CEOs though, just teachers, scientists, academics, IT people and such, but not all tradies or anything. I guess these boots might be quite casual if you’re in marketing or a business role like that in a larger city. All depends on cultural context.

Ablation surgery is a hit or miss procedure, hopefully it works...The good news is that it is a relatively minor surgery as far as heart surgery goes, so complications are very unlikely. I'd say you might want to surprise the wife with some new shoes or boots :) The synthetic heel counters are really kind of tough, then do eventually soften up as the resins get broken apart on the fibers...I wish they'd go with a soft leather heel counter, even maybe consider using scraps. Compared to Nicks JIM greens break in fast, about a week or 3-5 days of wear. The round wide toe is so superior in fit to Nicks HNW last...it allows a lot of free movent of the toe joints but no slippage. Although slightly cheaper materials than Redwings...you are getting a lighter boot which adds a ton of comfort with each footstep. I think people in between a genuine wide E width or wanting somemthing in between EE and EEE width will love the fit. I take my JIm Green Razorbacks hiking more than my Nicks because...they fit better, are lighter and more agile. If Jim Green would build a 400$ boot with thicker higher quality leather components, I'd buy it for the last alone...its a great last for certain feet shape/sizes.
Those may be my next JG boots. When they get more cape buffalo skin I may order another pair of customs. Waiting for my custom AR8's as I write. Hope your cataract surgery goes as well as mine did. My dominant eye focused at infinity and the other focused at 40cm for reading without glasses. First time since 6th grade that I didn't need glasses to get around.
According to Jim Green, their fit runs true to size. Since my Brannock size is 10D, I assumed my true size would be 10D. However, I was mistaken. I custom-made 10D size AR8 boots with the ASHM last, the same last as the Numzaan Boot. The boots are too small, tight, and uncomfortable in the toe box, making them unwearable. I had to remove the footbed to slide in with a thin sock, but they are still too tight all around. Wearing a boot without a footbed and having your feet touch the fiberboard midsole is not a great feeling. Since they are custom-made, I cannot return or exchange them. I am now using a boot stretcher to see if the fit improves. Overall, their fitting has been a disappointing experience compared to Truman or Red Wing. I would think twice before buying from them again.

Applying the South African formality scale, I wore my African Rangers to a wedding. The bride, of all people, couldn’t help commenting on the wide, round toe box. So I suggested she stop kissing me! Question for ya, when I got mine, the upper was kind of loose around my leg, even with thick socks. Sizing down fixed this problem, but then it was too small for my foot. Would you be willing to live with it slightly loose at the top (I pulled the laces HARD) or just find another boot?
