Had mine for 1 year now. 7 seat (conference/ vis-a-vis) LWB TDI Style Model. Same colour and wheel choice as in the video. It's ace! Apart from the fiddly infotainment and haptic buttons, this eclipses any car I've ever owned for practicality and versatility. Its a big old unit, and might take some folks a little time to get used to it's dimensions, but don't let that put you off. As Chris says, sliding doors are way better than regular ones. My other car is a top spec SQ5, and the Multivan is the kids first choice every time for which one they want to go out in. As a family car, for me it is totally unmatched on the market. Nothing else comes close other than the SWB Multivan. As mentioned in other comments, don't get the short one. Just get the big one and get used to the dimensions. It's big , tech laden, comfy, versatile, well thought out & practical. Only thing that would make me sell it is to buy another one that's 4WD (if they ever make one)
@@CaliforniaChrisI think they did it. Saw a vid on a 4 motion hybrid version. I hope they make 4 motion diesel as i do not want a hybrid. This is absolutely fantastic car for all outdoors enthusiasts.
Great overview, I have a mk4 caddy maxi life which has been so good for work and family use, I may look at this for the next work car , what puts me of all VW cars now is the built in touch screens.
When I graduated from university, I bought myself a MAZDA MPV and I loved it compact dimensions on the outside yet spacious inside. A seven seater with the middle row, removable. The middle and rear rows fold flat making overnight sleeping quite comfortable for two six footers. I wish there was a version of it now in the 2020s.
Hi Chris. Thank you for this informative video. Quick question. On the Hybrid range, what the distance I can travel, if I have a full tank on fuel and electric?
Does anyone have experience of with panorama roof offered in this van? It does not have sunshade and I wonder how comfortable would,it be sit under direct sun (even with dimmed / UV filtering glass )
I have got a 2022 multivan I wonder can I retrofit extra options heated seats electrifying the side doors so the open by a button the table can this be done mine is a basic multivan any chance this can be done to my vw its a vw t7 but basic model im wondering if anyone can retrofit to make it easier for my family
It’s surprising how small the boot space is even on the long version - I understand you can more them forward but if this is the LWB then the SWB must be utterly pointless in the back?
Why do you refer to say California T7 when vw have said it will be based on the multivan platform (as per the concept). Isn't the mulitvan and Ford T7 different platforms/vehicles?

Awesome review! Thanks for sharing. I do hope they make a 4Motion one!

I hear you. Interesting that Rivian are now working with VW on future infotainment operating systems. Time will tell.

Both versions of the BUZZ should have had all the rear seats on this rail system AND this centre console. Great design.
Thanks for the vid. Do any of the passenger windows open?
I own this - the 2 litre petrol. It’s amazing. Don’t get the short one

Our air b&b in Aruba has tinted windows for the patio doors. They work pretty well.
HiChris, great vlog as always. Do you know where I can rent one of these from? Thanks
Depends on your location. Liverpool VWCV rent them out.
Does it come as an 8 seater?
Is it 4WD?

If the seats are all the way back, the boot space is minimal, but most people have them at least slightly forward. It's a very versatile vehicle.
Is the new california going to be built on this platform, or the multivan ?
The vehicle in this video is the Multivan. The next California is based on this model, yes.
dear Chris, i don't have any family or friends, don't go anywhere and i can't drive... would this vehicle be good for me?
Probably not 😅

Multivan is the T7 platform, the new Transporter is called "The New Transporter".
VW making things simple😂. California Chris is great BTW, really great videos to watch when I was waiting for my van.
VW website doesn’t refer to this car as T7 anywhere in the vehicle pages.
The title of the page (what you see in the browser tab) shows "VW T7 Multivan" 👍
