Dogs aren’t capable of complex conversations, but you can absolutely train a dog to press a button to indicate when they need to go potty. I too am skeptical of these word buttons owners use, but simple stuff like this doesn’t seem fabricated to me.

He really wanted to go out when he heard it. So we started spelling others. out loud. Sometimes we messed up and spelled it out when talking about taking him outside or forgot to spell it for other things. Within weeks he learned how to spell it. So I believe this is possible.

Our Family Baby Kira (now 15 years old) did never need buttons, she could always signal us when she wanted to eat or drink, when to cuddle, when to sleep or left to rest, when to play and when she needed to go outside. We did go for walks with her but outside of that we always let her in the garden when she needed to go potty between our Morning and Evening walk (those were the big walks, i would always take her out with me after school for a quick walk or when i went to the park or something like that). Now that she's old one button would sometimes be useful because she just doesn't come to us anymore or walk to the door when she needs to go potty, she has dementia and has problems with sight and hearing... She does still see and hear but not that good anymore, well she's a granny now and she wears diapers when my parents are working and i am working from home, i live in the same house but not the same ground and even if i try i can't go up every 10 minutes to look after her and she doesn't want to be constantly under my desk when i'm working. Of course she wants to be at home wich is the flat of my parents for her but i do look after her every 1 to 2 hours and let her in the garden. A button would be handy now so that she could signal us 'potty' but now she's just to old to learn that and i'm just happy that she's still with us... Who cares if we sometimes need to clean up when she doesn't have her diaper on and was outside just half an hour ago... It happens 🤷🏻♀️ and we'll be happy to pay that little price if she stays with us for a long time❤ You know, when it's useful than okay but buttons for: Love, Mom, Dad, Hello, Bye and i don't know what the heck are just unnecessary and stupid!
