But because it used to be considered clean, doesn't mean that they weren't wrong then. A hit to the head is no good. Imagine the careers that would have been extended with an earlier focus on hits to the head.
I remember this game like it was yesterday. Kasparitis was my favorite penguin at the time and when he crushed lindros like that my jaw dropped because I didn't think anyone could hit lindros and take him out like that. That hit definitely changed lindros's career for sure.
Eric Lindros and the oversized Flyers could dish it out, but couldn't take it. And Kasparitis was fun to watch . (Remember the 'terrible towel'?) The 'high -fives' seem out of order when viewing this short clip, but the entire game tells a different story. Do you mean Francois Leroux? Brett was concussed in a fight with Leroux. He suffered two more in Buffalo and L.A and retired. Frawley last NHL season was 88-89 and then played in the AHL which Brett never played.

Had it been Stevens, who was always a bigger body and harder hitter than Kasparaitis could ever be, coming across and delivering this hit, Lindros would have surely been totally knocked out with his NHL career ended on the spot.

Of course I write this using many big words that I'm sure someone who replied "lol wut" will have lost interest by this point.

I never liked lindros that much but that hit was cheap. I never hit a player without the puck. If you think this was a clean hit that's probably because you were a bad player and that all you got to offer hitting players 2-3 seconds after the play.. the guy don't have the puck you don't hit. These hits made rules and calls tougher and let place to smaller agile players flying around the ice, and took out big rough players out of the game eventually. I think it made hockey way more faster and interesting at the end. Sad for big tough slow guys though. Hockey has changed from toughness to speed. There still cheap shot players that need to be dealt with though.. like being suspended as long as the guy don't come back..

Those are two players known for dirty hits.. Glad the NHL is getting cleaner.
