Tommy still does the original solo, note for note, just like he did it on the record.... even though he used to say he cringed when he heard it and it sounded like he played it with his thumbs. This is just great.
I have the original 1969 pressing of "Hanky Panky" from the Niles Michigan studio where it was recorded. My family is from South Bend, Indiana, right on the border with Niles, and my aunt and cousin were teenagers during the best times of rock and roll and got the 45 then.
You have the 1964 pressing on SNAP I thinking. The same tape was released later on Roulette under the name Tommy James & The Shondels. I remember this being played at the local swimming pool in Anderson, IN, not far from Niles. When it came out again in 66 I was confused by the addition of this Tommy James guy. (I was not yet a teen)
@titostacos Yeah it's one of the best rock autobiographies I've read, mainly because Tommy is completely honest about everything. He doesn't hold back facts or events or try to paint himself as a saint. In fact, Tommy is a Christian and has been free from drugs, alcohol or any mind-altering substances since the 80s. Tommy knows that it's better to be honest and inspire others to improve their lives like he has done.
It comes from his heart, there is nothing to remember...it is gold... Tommy can u hear me, Tommy can u see me...// see me, feel me...touch me... heal me....ed
That was one of my two first records .... I played it for hours (at X-mas !!!) --- haha ... Admitted the words are... but the memoirs are nice. Thanks for posting. Silviiie, Austria.
For some crazy reason, this group didn't seem to be taken "seriously" when they were cranking out one amazing song after another. I never quite understood it! Their music has aged very very well!
Trying to REMEMBER the words to this song is very difficult. I bet No One here can remember the words to this song. Only Tommy can remember these words. Think of how long this song is, then you will see how difficult it is to actually remember ALL OF THE WORDS.

his solo is a great surf guitar sound...
Been years since I heard this one & it still sounds good
As a 10 year old I loved this song now it's 54 years later.
It was one of my my Mom's records I must have been 8. I remember she also had Ritchie Valens 45rpm - La Bamba~Donna
This is such a great song from a fantastic singer with a great voice.
Seen Tommy James and the shondells at the Sharon Morse in December 2022, one of the best concert's I've seen in a while, Tommy is a living legend 👍
as a child i u sed to sing this song all the time. Never knew what hanky panky meant then...now i think of it , puts a smile on my face.
I remember that when this song was released I was so glad that a band was willing to play straight-ahead "good ol' rock 'n' roll".
Tommy James is a great songwriter and musician.
back in the 60s little town Alabama at the movie theater 10 years old they played this for two solid hours ! crazy 63 now still love it !
This should be the official song of the home state of the great Tommy James.
You can make that time standing on your head ( from daddy)

Damn, he looks good for what he's been through. Got an autobiography that's well worthwhile.
