- Video will explain how to add freon into ac system wen ac compressor clutch is not engaging . Warning i am not a professional. It worked for me and hope it can help someone else.
Thanks for the reminder. Quick and short. 1. Pull a/c compressor relay 2. From + battery terminal jump to A/C relay position 87 (it is printed on the cover of the under hood fuse box) 3. If compressor turns on begin to add freon immediately (don't let compressor run very long before adding freon- you will burn it up). If compressor clutch does not engage after + battery jump you have other problems.

Couldn’t have explained any better . Your awesome
Jump 87 to 30 and it should get you going. Just did it today and didn’t have a extra hand to help me out (I have a 2007 classic body LBZ)
Dude..u jus saved my life so much! LoL
My wife was angry an with no AC.. on her 03 silverado...till an hour ago ,an I watched ur jump wire video..God Bless ur so rich heart!. It worked an I replaced the breaker thing an its cooling now.. I got 2 cans in.. ( lost some ..spewing.). But so much better Essa. .I owe u vato
You’re a savior! After adding some coolant my ac blinking light went off, but my ac compressor wouldn’t engage. I did this and after a few pumps, I pulled the wire, and the compressor started engaging on and off. I kept adding when it was on. It continued to stay on longer by itself and I got it charged. Staying cool like brand new now!
Best video on AC on RUclips all the rest of the other guys never explain why you have to bypass the relay. This one tells you exactly why awesome video man appreciate it
I have been fighting with mine in my 04 Silverado same issue new compressor switches everything you can think of I did this and got it working again blows nice and cold thanks for your video it was a life saver 👍👍👍
It worked on my first try. Thank you so much for the advice amigo! I've tried other RUclips methods, but this is the best way for my situation.

Your welcome enjoy your ac
Like clockwork, I tried it and sure enough, FIXED A/C!! Thankyou sir!
Thank you. I was stressing then I watched this gave it a try and it worked right away
This video was very helpful. I had to fix my wife's ac on her 2006 Avalanche. It was blowing hot air. The ac compressor wasn't engaging. I thought it was the fuse. It wasn't. Then I thought it was the compressor. It wasn't. It didn't have much freon. I did just what this video showing. Ran my wire to the battery and then to 87 prong. Compressor engaged. Left it engaged and added freon. Now ac blows cold air. Compressor works just fine like it's supposed to. Great video!

Im glad it was able to help u . And glad it didnt confuse you next time ill make a video of me actually doing it
Hey do yu leave the wire connected til freon is added? Or do yu just jumpstart it?
@@GlizzyGurlGossip , the way "I" did I left the wire connected so that the ac compressor is running. The compressor has to run for it to accept the freon. After you've put 1 can of freon you can disconnect the wire and insert your relay back in. Then run it like it's supposed to. Hopefully you got it.
@@pedrovaldez9559 ok thanks so much! Oh and what kind of wire can i use?
@@GlizzyGurlGossip, you can use any wire just as long as you can fit it in #87 like explained in the video. Speaker wire is good too.
I HAD A PROBLEM CHARGING THE AC THE COMPRESSOR COIL KEPT TURNING ON AND OFF, I PUT A JUMPER WIRE BETWEEN 87 AND 30 AND THAT KEPT THE COMPRESSOR RUNNING WITHOUT TURNING ON AND OFF, SO I WAS ABLE TO CHARGE THE REFRIGERANT ON THE SYSTEM WITHOUT AN ISSUE, I DIDN'T USE THE WIRE FROM BATTERY TO 87, BUT YOUR TIP WAS VERY HELPFUL INDEED, THANKS
It works easy on my 2007 GMC Yukon, very helpful. It was cool again. Thank you very much!!!
MVP THIS IS HOW U MAKE A VID STR8 TO THE POINT AND SOLUTION THANX 👏 WORKED
your trick solved the problem, and saved me a lot of money and time. thank you
Just did the jump Compressor engaged loaded it and it working thanks for the video thought I was gonna have to get a new one
mandujano70
Thanks for watching glad it helped
I've done everything you can think of besides this to fix my AC in my Tahoe. Expansion valve, pulled vacuum idk how many times, 2 ac compressors. One compressor had bad threads where the high line goes and didn't see it till I had it on. Second compressor is new and still won't pull Freon through the system. Honestly forgot about jumping the relay. Gonna give it a shot in the morning. Hopefully it works
This is the video I was looking for! Straight to the subject with no BS! Thank you sir
This fixed my problem, and it also help me locate the leak I have. Now I need to find a video on how to fix the leak lol. Thanks for the helpful video!
E A is the valve bubbling wer u put in the Freon ? If it is then that’s the problem
@@josesoto9099 Yeah it is, I already bought a kit for the inlets but I have to drain the freon to do this.
E A
Unfortunately yes a shop will charge around 50$ to do it
Thanks bro !! Helped me fix the old ladies 💃 saturn vue . 😎
Thanks bro! Need to try this on my ‘98 Chevy Truck
It should i also did this on year 2000 silverado and worked
thanks for this video, very helpful.
You can pull the ac relay in that panel and the two left holes 86 and 87 hook them together with one piece of wire one into front hold one into back hole the front left 2 holes it’ll make it run
Worked for my 2014 gmc. Was 35 i think instead of the 87 prong to power the clutch but worked like a charm. Thanks man good vid. 👍🏼
My ac stopped working but before I put Freon in it, it started back. I have a 2014 gmc as well. This is the 2nd time its done that to me. What is going on with it?
Update. Quit working again. Mine had a tiny leak at the condenser. Replaced and all good now
@@reded6640 because it's leaking refrigerant. It's a pressurized system, so the low pressure switch is a feature built in to keep you from burning up the compressor, as the refrigerant is also it's coolant. If it's low enough that bumping it with a can of refrigerant won't engage the clutch and it hasn't been sitting for several years, you've probably got a leak somewhere. So refilling it gives enough pressure for it to run, until it leaks out again.
@@CharliesTheMan thanks. The dealership said they think it was the actuator door and wanted to charge me $900 which I didn't get but turns out it a module that needed replacing. Only 30 buck and got charged 50 to get it replaced by a friend. Dealerships are rip-offs
Thank u so much this worked
Good looking out! Jumped the 87/30 tho. Quick and easy. Was about to take it to the mechanic for this one but its blowing cold now
Thanks very helpful .😁
This is actually the only thing that worked...thanks...little less repeating though lol
I kno it’s not the best quality I’m no pro utuber but ay u can’t complain if it got your ac to work either go waste hundreds of dollars or deal with the long 7 min video. Wat car did u try it on if don’t mind me asking
@@josesoto9099 no all good bro...thanks again...I got a 2000 silverado
You are bypassing the low pressure switch which must be satisfied for Compressor to run. Simply add refrigerant until low pressure switch is satisfied and compressor will start in its protected state. Check fuses, relay. and low pressure switch. If OK, run car with AC on max. Add refrigerant and the compressor will start when low pressure switch is satisfied. Not sure why so many of these bypass videos exist. No harm if enough refrigerant is added before any damage to the compressor occurs.
Dagone, that drier looks like an IED hit it😄
Thanks bro this helped me alot 👊🏽💯
Also jost use a jumper wire or paper clip to conect 87 to 30 in the relay plug holes and yourac clutch will engage also so you can add the freon.
Kenneth Grimes
I didn’t kno about that trick I’ll try it out next time
U shoulda said that the first time lol
You saved me grief thanks
Big Rock candy Mountain your welcome
Thanks bro I was gonna spend 1300 bucks at the dealership
Cold Striker
Good thing u came across the video
Much appreciated good explanation of the video. Its my first time and it work very well for me. You save me $150 here in AZ. Thanks
Nice 👍 work enjoyed the video
Life saver!!!
Gustavo Fernandez
Your welcome bro
Very helpfull thank you so much
Thank you. But definitely stay away any leak stop or leak seal product. It will also seal (clog) the orifice tube
Really.! Ive heard many say the sealer is great and softens rubber seals.
It worked thx
thanks bro this shit worked perfectly
La la laaaa la .... Id like to charge my ac before winter!
Thumbs up.
Thanks bro
Thank you amigo
Muñañyo 💯🤙🏽🙌🏽
Worked for Me
my low pressure valve was the one closer to the sensor
Thanks bro it really works, you just save me a lot of money
Thks, this jumper started my clutch and i added one can. That's all it would take. Terminal 5 is the same as 87 on my relay a gm 4.3.
Joseph cox
Glad it helped out and yea some vehicles have different terminal numbers i did this also on a honda civic and I believe it was a terminal 3 and worked 👊 well thanks for watching have a wonderful rest of your day 💯 💯
Thanks
Jump 87 and 30 will do the same thing, but good video 👍🏿
I tried jumping 87 and 30 with paper clip, but clutch will still not engage.
@@Eyes4Hire yours might have a bad clutch or bad wire
@@eroom2087 It is a new compressor that came complete with clutch, but I am starting to suspect that they sent me a defective one.
@@Eyes4Hire just jump a wire to the compressor
If you got a test light check to see if you getting power to the clutch
Did he show it with the wiring?
I’d like to do this but I can’t seem to find the relay for my 2012 jetta
My 05 Nissan Xterra doesn't have A/C Comp relay. I did researched all over the internet. It just does NOT equip with A/C comp relay. Can I hot wire from Positive (+) terminal to A/C clutch wire in order to have the clutch engaged? To do that am I going to damage the compressor or anything else? Please advise ASAP. Thank you very much in advance!
There is a relay for it just having trouble locating it on the net as well . I believe ther blue colored how many blue relays do u c in your box
Personally i have never tryed hot wiring to the clutch so idk if it would damage it
I know a ac relay exists on it cuz if you online shop for a ac relay they show up
ruclips.net/video/7VqfGQlpC1w/видео.html
This diagram link i sent shows its 42 , check it out
so i did this on my 03 silverado and I can hear a click but the clutch doesn't engage. bad compressor? I also just replaced both pressure switches and the orifice tube.
Vandon Hobbs
Yea if u tried this and didnt work u probably need a new compressor,
@@josesoto9099 it worked put in a new compressor. Still having issues but the clutch is engaging now
Vandon Hobbs
What issues are u still having
How do you no which number to put the wire on I have a 2005 Mercedes c 230 and the clutch is not working any help would be great. Thank you
Have tryed puting the wire in any slot
I did this on a honda the other day i tryed all the slots till one worked at first i was iffy about but did it anyways
@@josesoto9099 thanks man for getting back to me. I am going to try it tomorrow wish me luck. Thank you so much for this video what a help to people like me. God bless You
@@josesoto9099 well I just looked at my fuse box and can't find the relay on it I guess I am going to try and find it some how. But again thank you my friend
I just put a paper clip in the plug at the dryer. It always jumped the clutch. But now i see mine is aparently to low i had to jump the relay useing paper clip. 👍
I don't know why some people are against the sealer. Hmm
It's because the sealer is a short term solution for an A/C system that's junk. Once you run that sealer through it, it's going to clog up a lot of orifices that are supposed to be open. It's like a blood clot basically. Since it's a circulating system, it's going to gunk up every part it flows through. So if you're planning to buy a whole new compressor, dryer, condenser etc then you don't have anything to lose. But if it's just a minor leak in a line, it could damage a lot of parts while trying to fix the issue.
Ta ta ya today junior! Smh!!!
So what is the pressure suppose to read I have a 2007 Chevy Silverado 1500
Usually the pressure gauge that comes with the freon can has a green zone were it wants u to be in
I know it's late but for others that see this, look up "A/C Refrigerant Chart" because the pressure you need changes with ambient temperature. It will tell you how much you need for each temperature range, match that up with the temperature outside when you're filling it, and you'll be golden.
Just making sure when you say turn your truck on....you mean start it or just turn the ignition to the on position
Turn on the truck
Great vid , but why at night ? Is that even YOUR truck
david jimenez yes
Idk ill do one next time in the daylight wit an actual demonstration
Nah video was dope I was just F@ckin ‘ wit you ,lol
Does the truck has to be running to do this job?
Gabriel M
Yes then u turn on the ac full blast then proceed to jumpstart the compressor clutch
Just jump 87 and 30 with one wire, and it engages like it’s supposed to, or it doesn’t.
Stick wire from hot battery terminal to 87 slot , then clutch should engage then add your freon with the ac controlls on full blast
@@josesoto9099 I had the same issue. I pulled the ac fuse, and jumped the 87 and 30 prongs with a gem clip. Made the clutch kick on and was able to get freon in it.
Or jump wire from 30 to 87
What if you dont have numbers 87 but you have numbers labeled 1,2,3,5 for relay
Myyoutubechannel
I would try each one until you hear the click
Myyoutubechannel
I had the same question when I attempted this on a Honda Civic my relay for that car did not have any numbers on it. So I just tried each little insert until I heard the clutch engage
Hope that helps
@@josesoto9099 i connected the positive from the battery to each one of the terminals and got nothing turned on smh lol the clutch didnt engage
Myyoutubechannel
Was your car on with the ac turned full blast as u tryed it? If it’s not working then it can be possible u will need a new compressor unfortunately
Hey bro, what type of wire did you use?
Damean Rosales
I used some speaker wire
Thanks brotha, ended up using a push pin lol, got it to work tho. Appreciate it
Barb wire from cow lot
Changed the relay and now it works. But no cold a/c !
Did u add freon
Hi, my compressor won't engage due ECU malfunction so I followed the
above steps with the engine running. Sure enough the compressor engaged but i let it run too
long (about a minute )and high pressured white gas shot out in a loud
hiss from the engine bay. I couldn't see from where the gas was coming
from exactly, as I ran panicked to shutdown the engine. Question is the
compressor destroyed? Or is it still ok despite what just happened?
earl chester
It should still work have u tryed it again ? Maybe the ecu caused it to do that
@@josesoto9099 I haven't tried it again coz don't want to screw something up. I'll just wait for a new ECU to arrive. Thank you sir.
Its only temporary fix if you got a leak
After u add the freon ...do u disconnect the wire that's connected to the battery to relay or just leave that connect ?
Jorge Cruz
Yes after adding Freon you disconnect the wire and clutch will go back off , then you just put the relay back on and it will turn back on
What if after you put the relay back on and charging the system the compressor doesnt turn back on? Would it be a bad compressor?
What tope of wire
Any wire that will fit in the slots
Oh man it started to work then my truck turned off now when I have the ac on my truck stalls idk what to do now
get rid of the truck
You can just jump 87 / & 30 with a paper clip
I hope this works just got quoted 500$ for a new ac compressor cuz they tried recharging it at a shop and the compressor didnt turn on.
DopeTheft Media
If your compressor is not broken and is only low on freon this will work
@@josesoto9099 I recently swapped my engine and had to swap out the ac compressor as well so its was low on freon
DopeTheft Media
Yea this should work by turning on the compressor manually did u swap the engin yourself?
No I had a homie help me with it.
DopeTheft Media
Alright this really easy to do
Wat i didn’t mention in the video
Recomonding changing the lil valve wer u connect freon hose into , those lil valves break and leak sometimes and since your lines are completely empty now its a good idea to replace the lil valve they only like 6$ at parts store last thing u want after successfully adding freon is that lil valve leaking , they bubble wen they leak then u have to get freon vaccumed out and replace the lil valve n redo process
It is very hard to understand what you are saying; poor sound quality. It would be easier to see if you put some light on the subject.
My ac compressor came on but it didn't take any freon
I did this bro. And my truck blew up wtf now I have no vechile to drive what happen?
Why won’t my clutch engage with out wire
Its out of freon or the ac compressor needs to b replaced
So ac blows cold with it jumped at the fuse, the lines are holding Freon and are in the green on the gauge, but once I put fuse relay back on it goes back to cutting off and on, anyone having this issue or ran into this problem?
Try replacing your fuse
He shoulda just told u to jump 87 to 30 and you wouldn't have to worry about it cutting off again
Actually you want one without leak sealer. That shit is like a blood clot in an ac system
This actually worked but once I took the The wire off the relay the compressor turned off so I am sure what’s happening
Jona did u add the freon wen u had the compressor running?
Mines did the same. Got a 03 Silverado
Jose Soto Yes I did and I found the problem there was a leak, thank you
I did all of this and filled it up with Freon and the compressor kicks on and still not cold
Updates?
My ac is blowing the fuse
I tried it, but the compressor didn't engage. My 2001 Deville doesn't have the number 87 on the fuse box. it has it on the fuse, but I don't know if the fuse was inserted right. How can I find 87 on a 2001 Deville?
Mary Lamb
How many prongs are on your ac compressor relay
I think your numbers will be on the bottom of your ac relay fuse
My toyota different to my is cm 4 pro g and only says 30 on one so the front 2 has to be the one to engage compressor. .well any ways different cars different labels
I did this and my truck will not cut on
U might need a new compressor
CAN NOT HEAR YOU
There’s buttons you can press on your phone to turn up the volume.. life hacks
How are you demstraing with out even turning on the clutch? I think you need a new processor for ur brain to function faster a bit ;)

I’ll write it down next time😜
That was rude and stupid. Jose is a hero and you are a zero.
