Y'know it's amazing how this mod developer has made two amazing mods this large and they're both interconnected with their own stories! So for instance in the bit in this game when your in the container and the security guard walks by and says "End of the line for you" that's the Azure Sheep Security Guard! And in the area where you steal the Manta? In Azure Sheep you actually visit that same area

It’s actually quite interesting that the Black Mesa levels have furthered the idea of a full facility for the survey teams when they released their Xen levels
Fun Fact! This mod was actually based off of a cut idea from another mod made by the same person, "Azure Sheep." There was supposed to be a section where the player would transform into a Vortigaunt, but that got cut.

I think it was because of the point of view from the other side, the Vortigaunts.
In this vision THEY were the people who were being affect by an alien species, the humans.
Look, there's a reason for the cutscenes, Niko. Some parts of the game require cutscenes in order to make sense.

The final boss is an MTM-8 Black mesa robot it's like yellow and used to Carey boxes but with guns is epic
You dont have to fight the Apache, you can just go continue regardless.

Yeah, Azure Sheep already have one, as for POV it is not this easy. There is a mod called "Black Guard", I think it do have a remake in the work but I am not sure.
I've never seen any crouching, button-pressing, swimming, each other-killing, and climbing aliens in this game lol.
Great mod, really liked it. Felt like an expansion pack like Blue Shift and Opposing Force! My main question; did I see and hear Pulse Rifles from Alien scattered about? If so... I want one for Half Life!
Azure Sheep has it, but it's just a faster MP5 with the same grenade attachment
@gordon freeman I think it's a straight upgrade but yeah, it's very disappointing as a new weapon. The Beretta is even worse in that regard

Why do the aliens start attacking you all of a sudden
It is explained in the diaries that you can read throughout the game. Pretty much what happened was that the vort you play as begins to doubt nihilanth and his superiors which causes pheromones to be released by their cuffs which alerts other aliens that they are traitors.

At one point the vortigaunt is at like 20 health, the next he's at 80
The lightning attack allows you to drain health from organic enemies
Headshots seem to drain more as long as they don't have little health
It's because the vortigaunt is malleable

When I played this mod, the green circle that shows where you're aiming didn't appear for me, making the mod much harder for me. Anyone know why the circle didn't appear for me?
Open console and type "crosshair 1" that should work

I don't understand why the crosshair is disabled by default in this mod, I don't think it was intentional because otherwise they wouldn't have bothered to give the crosshair a unique design.

Hopefully someone having this issue will run across this comment. At 45:19, there is a bug, referred to as "manta ride bug" in manual: you get stuck in place, taking damage. Here is a solution that worked for me just now:
Open a console and use command "fps_max" to set your framerate to 5. With this, I managed to ride manta without an issue few times regardless of how I got onto manta. You may still need to try few times or lower framerate further.
What's interesting is this story predates the idea in Half-Life 2 that the vortigaunts were enslaved by the Nihlianth.
You could already tell they were held under some sort of captivity by the cuffs they wear.

I like to play GoldSource games on an extremely high-end computer, and just try to push the visuals as far as I can through the graphics control panel. Like cranking up the Anisotropic Filtering and Anti-Aliasing, for example. It is a shame I can't improve the Z-Buffer through the Nvidia Control Panel, the Z-Buffer built-in to Half-Life isn't very good.
Another thing I wish I could do was mount Half-Life 1 mods onto Half-Life Source. But alas, the engine was not designed for that.

The story is incorrect in terms of the half life story, but this game out before hl2, so I can’t blame them.
I remember waiting like mad for this mod to be finished back in the day, it was like friggin Black Mesa Source. I find going back and playing it though that it feels kind of dull. I think primarily it's something it can't help but it's the lack of weapon and combat verity. It just gets boring to charge up an attack and zap stuff over and over and over. Especially since it's the only way to get health that's even more reason to never use any other attack. I get it, you're a vortigaunt, it's what they do. It doesn't mean it's fun though.

I think it's explained in the Vortigaunt logs he has.
I hate how boring this looks. the main character is designed to be adaptable and yet the weapon variety is restricted to three weapons (clawing, charge attack and hive hand, hive hand being restricted for a good chunk of the campaign) and a fourth your not supposed to get. facetank damage, charge attack, repeat. It looks do god damn boring.
You could play this with Ultra-Definition Model Pack that exists since 2010 www.moddb.com/mods/point-of-view/addons/point-of-view-ultra-definition-pack and also you'd be more comfortable installing the old crosshairs after UD pack www.moddb.com/games/half-life/downloads/old-crosshairs-for-hl-point-of-view-mod-in-ud
Another thing: there s a key binding for reading story logs, if can you see the S icon fading in and out in the top right of the screen you have unread entries.
Still a better mod then hunt down the freeman

Actually Nihilanth was slaving the vortigaunts trough mind control.
Nihilanth was planning to invade and conquer Earth so the Xen races could flee from the Combine, but Gordon stopped him and ended the huge harmonic reflux that was happening around the world (Xen portals opening and closing like crazy all over Earth)
Well in majority yes...
But not for Nihilanth or the Combine though, these two where coming to decimate and conquer, so Freeman was the key to stop them. Shepard also detained huge monsters from entering Earth like that final boss of Opposing Force.

It is not possible, to do this you need the source codes for Opposing Force and Gearbox never released any SDK for all of Opfor, Blue Shift, and Decay. Only HL1 SDK was released by Valve.

A good mod overall, but what the hell is wrong with the developer making a HUGE MAZE in a game with NO MAP. Well, there is a "map" at around 22:59, but it's totally wrong and useless.

This might sound weird but if the alien never charged his attack he would probably hit a lot more things than just always charging it instead of charging his attack he's your chest attack then he would hit a lot of stuff and kill a lot of people the union should not have to charge his attack

Based on the mod's journals entries, it's some kind of orb that the Xenians were using to power their stuff. However, those orbs turned out to be living and did not like being used the way that they were. That's why in some segments they warp in and attack everyone, including you.
