$350 for the glass, $600 for the recalibration. A scam for features I never wanted or use in a car.
I drive a manual transmission, I don’t touch my phone when driving, I don’t ever use cruise control, and my eyes aren’t off the road so the brake warning for a car stopping short in front of me has never been anything but an annoyance. Money grab 💰🤬

So why do I have to pay for calibration on my rain sensing windshield? Charged $150 for but they couldn’t show me the process…

Adas calibration is only required if you have a front facing camera on your windshield. If all you have equipped on the windshield is a rain sensor there is no calibration required.

I don't have ANY extras in my truck . Base model. Safelite says they "have to" recalibrate mine. I have no sensors or cameras or adaptive cc .. nothing.

I just had my windscreen replaced, the quote was meant to include calibration to camera.. They have replaced it and I asked how do you calibrate the camera. He said the windscreen was already calibrated.. I feel they ripped me off. Is it possible the new windscreen would be calibrated using factory settings?

If you are replacing any glass that the ADAS camera sees through you are required to calibrate. This is due to the small differences in the glass and the positioning when you set the new glass. These differences can be as minute as a few millimeters but that would be enough to throw the camera off, therefore needing a recalibration.

It's not changing location. Going back in the exact same spot. Sounds like an easy money grab to me. Make some undeniable videos where this was needed. A wreck with a total windshield smash, maybe but any other situation doubtful.

False bro, I have a G05 X5 and windscreen got replaced and camera has been acting all crazy ever since. Adaptive cruise control and lane departure haven’t been working. It needs to be recalibrated by dealer… BUT, not alll cars require recalibration as some cars are designed to self calibrate.
