  • While travelling in Nara, I got to sleep in a Gyokuzoin Buddhist Temple in Nara for a night and it was one of the most memorable experiences of my trip in Japan.
This Japan vlog shows what a traditional temple stay is like, including where you sleep, the view from the room, what you eat (vegetarian food) and attending morning prayers at 5.15am and 6.15am.

Is it possible to book for couples only or you have to share room?

Hi Janet! Thank you for sharing this amazing experience! I'm planning my trip to Japan and I would love to stay a night at Koyasan. I'll travel solo though and this will be my first solo trip... so, I'm a little uncomfortable traveling alone in such an isolated area. Do you think that I shouldn't? I would like to know what you think since you've been there. Were you traveling solo at the time you visited Koyasan? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks
