    I know everyone is impressed with Natacha's determination and drive and willpower (so am I, believe me) but what also impresses me is the love these two have for each other. Natacha being so happy to see Mario that she breaks down in tears and asks for a hug is just heart-warming to me. They have been together for so long and yet they never seem to take each other's support and affection for granted. This, my friends, is truly inspirational.

You're such a fucking insipiration Natacha and i know probably thousands of people tell you this and you don't even stop and think that it's true, but it really is. You're the most resilient, hard-working, devoted person. It's not an accident that it was you who did this challange or that it was YOU who keeps doing seemingly unhuman-ly things WHILE documenting the ENTIRE thing, for the army of critics who haven't gotten up to do a squat in years. Your strength lies in your vulnerability and the incredible courage you take on every damn challange you can think of, because strength isn't about doing only difficult things, it's about courage to show how truly difficult it can be to "do difficult". To Natacha or whoever reads this, I’ve been bad at running my whole life. Not in the normal ‘I hate cardio way’, but in the way that people made fun of me for being the slowest. I didn’t hate cardio because it hurt, but because it humiliated me every time I did it.
    I started speed walking on a treadmill a few years ago. I never exceeded a mile, and I was honestly just happy to be technically doing cardio.
    Then I saw your video about running a marathon with no training to prove that these feats are mine over matter. I have no idea how you motivated me that much, but I decided I was going to run 5 kilometres for the first time in my life. I said, it’s ok if I stop running, but I will start running, and I won’t stop moving till I hit 5k. And I did it.
    This feat is then what motivated me more and more. The fact that running was truly my enemy, but because I decided, one day I did a 5k. I got better and better until I was running 10k several times a week.
    I’ve since stopped running but I hope to get back into it. But your video on cardio changed my life. I thought I was hopeless and I hated how embarrassing cardio was for me. I hated being the slowest. I thought I just had something in me that wouldn’t let me run life other people, but I didn’t just learn to run like others, I exceeded them.

    Would be interesting to hear more about how you managed recovery after this challenge. Were you able to walk the next day etc? I heard David Goggins talk about a 24 hour running challenge he did and I think he said he could barely walk for days or weeks after? Wondering how long it took you to feel reasonable recovered after

    • @natachaoceane
      @natachaoceane  2 года назад +911

      hey Christina! 🤍 I hope you're doing gooood (: honestly my recovery experience wasn't like what he described: my legs were achey for suuuure, and I could still feel some ache and fatigue 7 days after. But walking felt 50% back to normal probably 2-3 days after and felt back to normal fully after 6-7 days. I actually still felt tired (as in lacking sleep) for longer, around 7-10 days after. There's probably a big difference in how hard we pushed ourselves though, that I expect explains the difference. I wasn't going 110% as if I was in a competition or try to set a personal best - I had a light distance goal I was curious about, but I took extra rest when I needed it in the last 12 hours because this was my first attempt and my goal was more to understand the experience for future attempts, and I'm holding a little back until I feel like my recovery from my injury is complete (mentally). I still really pushed myself and was committed to completing the run, but I know DG probably went balls to the wall and really pushed it for 24 hours which I didn't do. Now I'm more familiar with this type of event, I may do that next time and have a different answer!

      David Goggins doesn't run like Natacha. He runs angry He didn't take in hardly any nutrition during that challenge either. Natacha is super smart to keep such an optimistic attitude and to fuel with several sources of nutrition through it all. Much easier to recover.

    As someone who suffered a spinal injury this past summer, thank you so incredibly much for making this video. As you reached your goal, I burst into tears thinking of how much hope there is that my mind and body can recover become stronger and more resilient than it was before the injury. While I know running for 24 hours is not in my plans for the future, this video is giving me a reason to pause and appreciate just how far I've come in such a short time period.

    9:05 This is such a strong sentiment. I have a disability that left me bedbound and it comes with chronic pain. Doctors told me I couldn't walk anymore and my pain made me believe it. Eventually life wasn't worth living (I was at a point I couldn't even sit up most of the day) but I had a last ditch effort of flexing muscles, eventually allowing some movement I repeated as much as possible, months later I could go to the bathroom on my own, eventually got myself to the treadmill, with handles, then without. It was excruciating and terrifying, but nowadays, same body, same messed up skeleton, damaged muscles and I can do anything and the pain doesn't feel nearly as bad.
    It's not a normal life and I'm still in pain 24/7, I non-stop gotta fight it but it gets easier and easier. Most of that is simply mentally, sure my muscles got stronger but they're now at a point it barely matters when I improve, rest is all just knowing I can and breaking through the mental barriers.

      hey Kate 🤍 I am sorry to hear that, firstly I'm sending you a huge hug 🤗🤗🤗🤗 I understand how you feel, I know it really hits hard. I honestly felt that I didn't have a lot of hope when I injured myself initially, and I know how heavy that feeling is. If there's just one thing I can really stress to help you as much as possible, it's that you go hunting for a physical therapist or physio who you trust 110%. That probably won't be the first person you try (I hope you're lucky and I'm wrong!!) and it may take some digging, but I promise when you feel faith in a specialist who understands you and can see the path to your recovery, everything clicks into gear and hope starts returning.
